I have seen a lot of Dr Luce's patients coming through our office as well as many other Otho practices. We have referred out our patients to her and with good reason. This Is why I have decided her office to be my Dr to use the Invisilign system. I had braces, full band, as a kid. Now 60, I needed redirection of migrating teeth to correct bite and improve smile. At no point was I informed that this visit would involve a dental evaluation or that any additional fees would be incurred. Upon arrival Dr. Dano immediately began promoting his own dental device, claiming it was superior to the one I currently use. He then proceeded to perform -without my request or consent- a dental evaluation. Following this unsolicited evaluation he informed me that all my silver fillings needed to be removed and that additional caps were necessary, totaling an estimated cost of $7630. I left the appointment without the adjustment I came for, confused, concerned, and extremely disappointed. I sought a simple adjustment, not a sales pitch or an unrequested dental evaluation. Shortly afterward, I received a bill for $225 for a "dental evaluation", which I never requested, approved, or was informed would take place. When I questioned the charge, the office manager responded rudely and stated that if I did not pay the bill, they would pursue the matter in small claims court- adding that they have never lost. The threatening tone and lack of professionalism were completely unacceptable. Had I been informed in advance that a fee would be charged for a dental evaluation, I would not have scheduled the appointment. TRANSPARENCY REGARDING COSTS AND PROCEDURES IS A FUNDAMENTAL ETHICAL STANDARD IN HEALTH CARE. Bull Valley Dentistry failed to uphold this standard, and in my experience, did not act with transparency, informed consent, or professional courtesy. I have filed complaints with the American Dental Association and Better Business Bureau. I believe patients deserve to be treated honestly and respectfully, and no practice should be allowed to mislead or pressure patients into unnecessary services or surprise billing. I do feel fortunate that I am only out $225. Please consider another opinion before letting Bull Valley Dentistry be your dentist.

The worst "cleaning" I have ever had. She doesn't understand proper numbing procedure. Over numbed me the first time and way under numbed the second time where I felt the entire cleaning (which was only done to the front of my mouth and she maxed out my benefits). She drilled out a "broken filling" where I felt the entire process and was in pain. I paid nearly $1000 out of pocket for a "deep" cleaning and cavity fill even with insurance. Never paid that much anywhere else ever before.

A few of the people there who do cleanings are nice, but you shouldn't go in the first place. Find a place outside of McHenry if you can. If not, then stay away from here.
