I have no words to describe how incredible the Right At Home team is. We started working with Right At Home when my father was discharged from a long hospitalization and we needed around the clock care for him. We worked with them through my dad's hospice and they still check on our family even after he passed. The special sauce is the oversight from Gulraj and Debbie. This is not just a business to them. I want to add another note about how helpful Right at Home Peninsula is. While my mother was in Hospice care, my out-of-town sister was taking care of Mom nights. My sister wasn't getting much sleep so I again called Gulraj and asked him how it might work to get last minute help for the night shifts. Gulraj was very clear about how this would work. If we called during the afternoon, he could still send someone out but couldn't guarantee that the caregiver would stay awake all night as they wouldn't have had a chance to sleep before arriving. (That makes total sense to me as my daughter-in-law does night nursing shifts and always naps before hand.) If I called in the morning requesting help, the caregiver would stay up all night. Then I asked about administering meds and Gulraj was again very clear that the caregivers weren't licensed to give morphine even if it was preloaded in the oral syringe. Other meds were okay. I so appreciated this clear, straightforward and honest communication as then we would know exactly what to expect if help was needed. Our mother passed away shortly after this phone call but I felt confident that had we needed someone to come out he/she would have done a great job. read more

Flying all the way from rural Wisconsin to Redwood City and not knowing for sure if the doctor would even operate on me, Nicole assured me I was covered no matter what. We had a wonderful and reassuring experience in our engagement with Gulraj's team at Right At Home. We came to them with a difficult situation. our brother need at home care to help support hospice because he was in the hospital with pneumonia and two broken legs, and would be discharged soon. What stood out to me was that Gulraj wanted to know about my brother, who he was, not just his condition. My brother had other challenges too, Down Syndrome and Alzheimer's disease, but Gulraj assured us they would have caregivers who could handle such a situation gracefully. I needed very specialized care in that I had to lay flat on my back while being driven to various medical appointments and back to my hotel. I would not recommend using this company. We were very disappointed. We go through agency's so we can follow all protocols to keep our family safe and we trust that they have done all the right procedures to ensure us that we have a caregiver coming into our home that we feel safe with. Well.. not this agency, they sent us a caregiver who was NOT state complaint to work for our family. Makes you wonder what other protocols they are not following. You think your safe going through an agency, instead of hiring privately for these reasons, just to get caught in the same situation. Right At Home was invaluable in my dad's recovery from stroke and heart surgery. Shawna (owner) and Julia (patient coordinator) met with us when my dad was still at the skilled nursing facility. This made the transition from snf to home very smooth. There were two caregivers - Helen, then Marie. Both were very kind. They really listened to our needs, kept up with his many medications, blood pressure checks, doctor's appointments, heating up his food, and left us detailed notes every day. When he first arrived at the house, he was shuffling, struggled to climb stairs, had difficulty getting up off a chair, and tired easily. The PT would come to the house for an hour twice a week, but this wasn't enough. He needed daily physical therapy to help improve his balance and regain muscle mass. They made sure of this. At the end of 2 months, he was walking uphill, can get up using just his leg muscles, and had no problems walking up and down the stairs. The improvement still impresses me. During the last 2 weeks, he felt so great; he had Marie take him to the grocery store. I think it gave him a sense of freedom again. I can't thank them enough. read more
