    Altered bridesmaids dress
    Morgan P.

I went here to get my dress altered for a wedding I'm in because I saw from other reviews that they could get it done faster for a slightly higher cost. I was actually thinking I'd have to spend $100+ just to get a couple inches off the bottom in a week. Fortunately, I told them my deadline and they said it was no problem and the cost was only $70 (and to get it done in 6 days, I thought that was awesome). Additionally, the lady that greeted me was so kind and offered help with other parts of the dress that I didn't even notice. I'll totally come back here if I ever need any other alterations.

Completely ruined my dress. The under lining was hanging out, seams don't match. The breast area is puckered!

I was referred to her by Altar Bridal, where I purchased my wedding dress, so I felt confident that I was being referred to someone experienced and trustworthy with bridal gowns. Unfortunately, that confidence was completely misplaced. My dress originally fit almost perfectly. It was maybe a half size too big and only needed minor alteration. It is a satin dress, so I was especially careful about who I trusted to work on it. After the alterations, my dress is now visibly damaged. There are sewing marks all over the satin where stitching was done and then removed, leaving obvious needle and thread marks throughout the fabric. The dress is now crooked, and the rouching has been completely distorted and does not lay correctly anymore. These are not small imperfections that can be overlooked on my wedding day. The dress looks cheap and destroyed not delicate and elegant like when I got it. My wedding is only a month away. I brought her a dress that already fit almost perfectly, and I am now left with a damaged wedding dress and no idea how I am going to get it repaired in time for my wedding. I understand that alterations can be complicated and that mistakes can happen. However, when someone is trusted with a wedding dress, especially a delicate satin gown, I expect a much higher level of care and expertise. I also trusted this recommendation because it came directly from the bridal shop where I purchased my dress. I gave her multiple opportunities to fix the dress, but at what should have been my last appointment I didn't trust her to touch my dress anymore. If you are considering using this seamstress for your wedding dress, I strongly recommend doing your research and considering other options. I would never want another bride to be in the position I am in now. My wedding is 32 days away and I absolutely hate my dress now.

They also added a large bow in the back which looked great. I went for 3 fittings over the course of a 6 months, so they could make sure the dress looked good as we got closer to wedding day. I thought they did a fabulous job with the alterations but communication between appointments was a little spotty. Twice, I was given instructions to communicate via text (I assume with the owner) but no one replied and I had to follow up days later. Not the worst, but definitely frustrating when you have a wedding to-do list a million miles long. Back to the positives - they gave very great instructions on how to bustle. On final fitting day, I brought a bridesmaid and a seamstress walked her through how to bustle. The bustle was complicated since I had a large dress, so the demonstration was wonderful. They also provided written in instructions in case we forgot. Day of the wedding- my dress was bustled without a hitch! I am so thankful for their professionalism in that regard. I would choose the Wedding Seamstress again for professional alterations.

My dress was heavily beaded and required significant work, including being taken in, hemmed, and a bustle for my first dance. The team handled it all with incredible skill and professionalism. The process was seamless and efficient. During my first visit, I tried on the dress, received a clear pricing estimate, and paid in full to drop it off. They immediately started working on the bustle so they could handle the hemming and final bustling in the next appointment. They even used a body scanner to get my exact measurements, which speaks to their precision and modern approach. I only needed three visits total, with the final one being just for pickup. This efficiency was a huge relief during the busy wedding planning process. Their professionalism and willingness to answer all my questions made me feel confident and at ease. If you're looking for a reliable and expert seamstress for your wedding dress, I highly recommend them.

Absolutely atrocious work done on a…read morebridesmaid dress... so bad that I had to buy a NEW dress days before traveling for a destination wedding. She told me it would be done within a week - I had to follow up with her to see if it was done over a week later and then she happened to not be there when I picked it up so had no option to try it on. As soon as I got home I looked at the work and texted her right away expressing my extreme disappointment and asked for a refund. She completely ruined the slit, the stitching was terribly crooked, hem was uneven, and she created a double seam in the skirt line - the most prominent part of the dress. After going back and forth on text she refunded half of the $185 I was charged - refusing to acknowledge how bad it was and at one point said it was a cheaply made dress so it was the best she could do. All I asked for was a full refund given that I had to buy a new dress and rush shipping. Everyone who has seen the photos has been APPALLED - including the saint who was able to turn around a quick hem on the new dress. I was out hundreds of dollars with the entire ordeal not to mention the stress the whole situation caused. Unable to share photos but they are included on my Google Review.

*Please also see attached photos*…read more After attempting to resolve this matter privately with Accurate Alterations without success, I'm sharing my experience publicly. On December 12, I brought seven garments to Accurate Alterations for alterations and paid in total $113. When the items were returned, while some garments were done well, I was dissatisfied with the results on several pieces. Specifically, in my opinion: -- One pair of jeans had an uneven hem and did not sit straight when worn. -- One pair of joggers no longer had the original taper, and the cuffs appeared inconsistently stitched. Additionally, they no longer feel like they fit like joggers but skinny pants instead. -- Another pair of joggers had similar issues but also interior stitching removed that was not restored. -- One pair of dress pants had an uneven hem and puckering at the bottom, and the original taper was not maintained. These garments were new and unworn prior to the alterations. Because of the nature of the work already done and my prior experience, further alterations would not be possible without significantly shortening the pants. I have reached out to Accurate Alterations multiple times since January 12th to discuss a resolution but we have yet to reach one that is mutually satisfactory. I'm seeking advice on what would be considered reasonable next steps. As I see it, I have a few options. In good faith I could try one more time to have them reexamine the work and try to fix it or I can seek reimbursement. Reimbursement could be a refund of alteration costs ($113), that amount plus a complete (~$100) replacement cost, or another fair solution. This post reflects my personal experience and opinion only. - Please advise.

It could be done by mail shipping to and from Steamboat Springs, CO. They would check it, send an estimate and with acceptance repair and ship it back. That seemed unnecessarily complicated from a place like Boulder, home of many outdoor gear companies and repair support. We stopped in to the place we had purchased it, our REI store being incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of such repairs, though they don't do any themselves. They gave us two names, Bare Boulder being the most comprehensive and a 20 minute drive away, on a prominent street in Lafayette. I called, got info from the owner, Eli, about general pricing and timing. We took the bag of poles out 3 weeks ago, the estimate in person was at the low end of general approximation on the phone. We dropped it off and was told about 3 weeks as my husband had no need to camp with for at least a month. We picked it up today, ready on time and beautifully done with even higher quality cord than original. The shop is amazing, with antique sewing machine display, thousands of sizes and colors of zippers, piles of buckles and straps. It appears he can fix such parts on almost anything, luggage, jackets, backpacks, scuba BC vests, tents handbags, tote bags, recreation gear galore. We will certainly return as we wear out more and more of our gear.
