What a rip off. I tried to be a customer of this establishment twice as it is a convenient location for me. Alterations never done on time, extravagantly overprice, not even steamed when done, always looking for your pieces. In other words a shit show. Very nice operators. However, they did not Let me know another zipper on my jacket was "reordered". I made an extra trip to pickup and only notified when I "physically went out of my way" to pick up and the jacket was not ready. Also, they do not offer different ways to pay for services other than an antiquated banking machine. Customers pay all different ways now ie Google pay, Apple pay, etc. . Methods should be adopted to offer clients communication on their terms, ie text, phone call, email. There should also be convenient ways to pay a business and this one, is very old school so, for myself- this wasn't the greatest experience. Adaptability to a customer's needs is important because, I can go anywhere else. And it is 2023 not, 1999. read more

I tried to like her and support her nearby business but each time I have gone to her I was disappointed. I took a coat in to her to let the sleeves out, and one sleeve is shorter and the hem is sloppy. Last month I took in 3 pairs of my moms identical pants with one being marked with a safety pen as to how short to hem them all. They all needed to be cut and hemmed about 2.5 inches. She said to come back in about 1 1/2 weeks. So 1 1/2 weeks later, when I got there, none of the pants had been taken up, and the younger girl there said, "they had hemmed the green ones (the ones I marked), and since the other two were the same length they did not hem the other two." I said none of these were hemmed and they both insisted vehemently their story about one only needing hemming. Wtf? I took them home, my mom tried them on, and with shoes, they all went down to the floor. Then they charged me $18.00!!! for what, for holding them on the carousel for a week and a half? Don't waste your money!! They'll make up stories about why they fall short, but they'll still want your money!! That's the way they do business!! read more

I took my wedding dress in to get altered, and it took her a little under a month to finish it. It sounds like a lot of time, but I needed a lot of work done. The shoulders needed to be taken in which had a lot of intricate beading on them. A foot or two had to be taken in from the bottom which had a lace design on the bottom, and she was able to keep the lace there. She also bustled the back of my dress as well. All in all, the dress looks amazing and she managed to keep all the detail on the dress. I would recommend her for alterations and wedding dress alterations. read more

Sophie quickly marked the dress on where it needed to be shorted and taken in on the sides. It was quick and easy and I did this with a newborn with me. Sophie was incredibly nice. Excellent quality repairing some technical gear. They fixed a hole (a large 3-4" rip actually) in the butt of my hiking pants and the repair will likely outlast the rest of the pants. Since Sew Good in Boulder closed during the pandemic, I have been looking for another alterations person for technical outerwear, and I look forward to having them repair other items in the future. Had Sophie's Alterations fix a suit for me. They did a professional job and I'm very pleased with the results.

Do not go here. I am an airline pilot who took my uniform jacket here to be taken in. I saw multiple uniform pieces also from my airline so I felt confident I had found the local place people trusted for quality and value. I could not have been more wrong. I waited more than 15 minutes to have Sophie see me and pin my jacket for measurements. She quoted me almost 4 weeks which I agreed to. When I went to pick up the jacket on the agreed-upon date, she awkward smiled at me and said it was not ready. I asked what that meant and her reply was "something is not done". I asked when it would be ready and she said come back the following day. The following day came and I went back to pick up the jacket. It was still not done. I stood at the register waiting for her to collect it, and when she finally brought it to me she ripped the tags out in front of me and damaged the collar. She made a quick repair and I took my jacket. She asked $110 for the alterations and I asked why no discount for not being ready? No explanation, just $110. She did not get a tip. A couple days later I went on a trip and noticed my uniform jacket did not fit well and I took it to the manufacturer in San Francisco who makes the uniform pieces. They identified that the ONLY thing she did was move the buttons. She had not even taken the seams in, validating that it didn't feel it fit very well post-alteration. I was overcharged for service that took too long, was poorly executed, and done so without an ounce of care for the customer. read more

I needed a sports jacket and slacks altered for a wedding that was drawing close. The tailoring appeared to me a bit tricky, including opening the side seams of the jacket, but Sophie did it beautifully, and within the allotted time. She seems busy and so I'd only recommend that one try to get special work in early. Prices were high, I felt, but Hey, that's Today, somehow! Sophie is a pleasant person doing a sorely needed job in the community. Recommend! Sorry, I have no personal experience with her dry-cleaning/laundering business so far, but that seems to be quite in order. read more

Sophie's Alteration has reasonable dry cleaning prices and fast alterations. I'm not sure many people are aware she's there because it's tucked in a plaza off Sheridan. It's no cheap getting clothes tailored but sometimes you have to! She made alterations to a Top Shop dress I bought to make the shoulder straps fit better but also have it hug my body more (it was a bit of a sack!). The cost was $45 and the dress was ready in a week - I'm happy with the end result! She has two change rooms, parking, takes credit card. Not much else you could ask for! read more

Based on reviews, I took a designer dress in that I planned to wear at my son's wedding. She had it for 3 weeks and when I came to pick it up, she had taken TOO MUCH out of the lining of the dress, so much that I could barely get it on. She begged me to let her fix it, which would be another week. I had absolutely no confidence she could fix it so I shopped for another dress 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING. Talk about adding stress! Went to pick up the dress she tried to "fix" and it's not wearable at all. She took the hidden zipper out and then sewed it back in, but it's not done right and you can see the edges of the zipper tape down the back of the dress. My wife had already pinned the slacks; I guessed by myself the hem length for the jeans (true ASSumption coming from a guy with no sense of style of his own).
