It is so peaceful and relaxing, There are usually a dozen or more vehicles parked so I know others enjoy watching the waves too, In the summer we enjoy the beach, wading and swimming. All year round you can watch a beautiful sunset. There are good views of Big Red from the park. It is nice that you can park very close to the beach, so if there is anyone is unable to walk longer distances this is the perfect place. The only drawback is that dogs aren't allowed on the beach.

There's a large shop with souvenirs, ice cream and fried food right on the beach. Definitely a very fun beach to come to, very busy though being a state park. Once you park, go to one of the two machines to pay to park. There is a playground, bathrooms and outdoor shower to rinse off. Follow the path for a short walk and you will see the tunnel that leads to the beach. This is a cool photo op! Walk through the tunnel, down the stairs and there is the beach! This beach is clean and nice! On the days I have been here it doesn't get overly crowded and there is plenty of soace to spread out. The water is nice and depending on the day can be a but cold. We usually bring a lunch and some drinks as there are no concessions. Also, no lifeguards. If you want some shade you will need to bring your own umbrella or tent. Each year we go to Michigan I look forward to going to tunnel oark for the amazing beach time!

Parking lot is gravel but has lots of spots and offers a short walk to the tunnel. Public restrooms are present. Pay station is located by the bathrooms. The pond and walkways were so nice. You can walk all the way around the island if you like. The small bridge was a perfect spot for photos. Of course the main attraction is the windmill. The ladies working the bottom were so sweet and friendly. We walked up to the top. Each floor had something to offer. Once at the top, we went out on the balcony to enjoy a gorgeous view. Our last stop was the huge musical machine. It added such whimsy. We really enjoyed our visit.

We walked up and saw you could catch a big ol school bus to shuttle you up to the entrance for free, we hoped on and went in. I was very excited to see de Zwaan the famous Windmill imported from the Netherlands! The only one in the US, I think! It was SO beautiful! I got some great shots of the tulips and the windmill that I thought were just so pretty! Loved going up in the windmill and walking thru the tulip fields. Also don't miss walking thru the shops with authentic goods for sale including a whole cheese wall! With samples! You know some Dutch Gouda had to come home with me!

Benches are available, and usually ducks and other waterfowl. I have always visited during tulip season and there are many beautiful tulip beds with dozens of varieties of tulips. Even better, there is an ordering booth where you can order bulbs for your own flower beds. You can tour the tulip beds and decide which bulbs are your favorites, and then order at the booth. New this year is a small playground for children.
