I worked with them to get several dozen succulents for a baby shower and it was really easy to plan ahead of time. They've always been friendly. They have a good variety of succulents. I'd say not as much of a variety of indoor plants but what they do have is well priced.

It's very important to get plants that have been grown locally to ensure they'll thrive at your home - a lot of nurseries grow outside of LA and then sell here because it's cheaper but those plants are higher likelihood of going into shock and not thriving.

There are about 17 greenhouses to walk through and one of them has a rare plant section that you have to request to see. The items in there are super rare and of course or more expensive. The employees there are super helpful and answered all my questions. They offer easy payment through Zelle. Plan to spend at least an hour walking around. They mostly have cactus and succulents and many outdoor shrubs and ground covers.

Going on their website is helpful because you can see what is in stock, but I had no idea how vast this place was. I'd only been looking at CA native plants, so from my parking spot to the pick-up desk I maybe only covered 1/15th of the area, if that. I've been looking for a local nursery with a wide selection of California natives, & have been lurking Ricardo's Nursery's online selection for a month. Finally purchased a 1-gallon Cleveland sage (Salvia clevelandii 'Winnifred Gilman') for $12 & a 1-gallon Yankee Point Carmel Creeper (Ceanothus griseus var. horizontalis 'Yankee Point') for $10. They had different variations of each plant reserved for me for me to choose from which was so endearing because I am secretly picky. Spoke with Jose who was super cool. There's also a very chill dog :) I was surprised by how vast the selection was in-person. The white sage (salvia apiana) in stock is just gorgeous. There are soooo many others I want to purchase, so thank goodness for my wallet that my project is fairly limited. (For now!) I would've wandered around photographing every single plant if it wasn't a million degrees outside & I didn't have to be somewhere. In just the 3 minutes it took me to walk to the pick-up stand, many plants caught my eye & I was reading the labels to figure out who they were. Really loved this one plant I saw--Silver Falls dichondra (Dichondra argentea 'Silver Falls'). This nursery is located off the 91 freeway and Lakewood. It's underneath some power towers. There's a few parking spaces inside and some street parking. There's a few very cool wall murals. Everything seems neatly organized. There's a small variety of pots, a shed full of bags of small decorative rocks, a price list, and then the succulents are nicely arranged and categorized. There's a table full of collectors succulents and cacti, cacti, succulents starting with small 2 inch pots, and it works it's way up to 8 inch pots. There's a lovely variety of succulent plants and their prices are clearly listed. If any succulent has a different price, it's shown so there's no surprises. The plants look super healthy and well taken care of. The staff there are very friendly! Great nursery to shop at.

Since I went during the holidays, I picked up a ministar red poinsettia for $5 and a very sweet starter planter in the shape of a zebra for just $2. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to see their weekly shipments and/or reserve the plants you want. Nestled into a residential area, you can pull in to park (word to those with low clearance vehicles, it's gravel). They are closed on Sundays, but open for business every other day!

If you're looking for high-quality plants, this nursery is absolutely worth it. I picked up a Kishu…read moremandarin tree and a blueberry shrub back in early February, and while they were definitely on the pricier side, they've proven to be worth every penny. Both plants are thriving and already producing so much fruit. It's honestly been so rewarding to watch them grow and flourish. You can really tell the quality and care that goes into their plants. Highly recommend if you're willing to invest a little more for healthy, productive plants!
