I called about Dragon Fruit plants and was told they had a pretty big selection of Dragon Fruit plants of different varities. When I got there, although the people were nice, it was a mess, with most of the Dragon Fruit plants in various stages of disarray and poor condition, with most unlabeled, with no names, and no idea what you would be buying. The excuse for the total mess was, the person who was supposed to organize everything.. didn't. When I called prior to making a long drive for 5 minutes of .. I don't know, I explained exactly what I was looking for, so I wouldn't find myself in that exact position of a mess of plants with someone not knowing what was going on there... A total waste of time, money and gas.. As I said, nice people, but no clue what they are doing. If I worked there, every plant, every tree, would have a label showing the name of what it is, and have every type of plant and tree grouped in specific areas, and well maintained without looking 3/4 dead or trashed... That's a recipe for lost sales... read more

What a beautiful oasis of tropical, native, and simply stunning plants all around. We had the best experience last weekend exploring their selection. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and so helpful... they even offered us fruits to try that we had never heard of! How often does that happen? It truly felt magical and unforgettable. We ended up buying quite a few plants, and the total was very reasonable. They also host workshops and have such a warm, family-oriented vibe. Highly recommend! read more

I just happen to be in the area and enjoyed dropping by to see the variety of healthy plants on the property as well as the specific plants (Gem Avocado and Osborne Prolific Fig) to purchase. Next time I'll call for assistance since it's a working nursery and I just happen to meet a friendly staff member available near the entrance area. Ricardo and Nadia are such a refreshing and dynamic duo. I showed up there with the tiniest order of four small plants for a special event I was planning. Ricardo took the time to sit down w me and discuss my tiny plants. I ordered them and followed up w a delivery of 4 tiny terracotta pots into which the plants were to be potted. I showed up at the appointed time. My order was ready at a price so modest, I felt guilty. Ricardo had personally traveled all the way to Santa Barbara to procure miniature roses that were in bloom. I have been waiting to get my hands on the vanilla ice cream tree for months now. They close at 5 but Ricardo was sweet enough to stay open for me to grab the tree. The tree is extremely healthy. I put it in my hatch back car. And heaved it up my apartment and not a single leaf fell off. It was a fair price. Absolutely recommend! read more

Yes they deserve all those 5 star reviews! My friend heard about them through her Lon Beach Gift box subscription and we came by on a Sunday afternoon. Long time employee Walter showed us around and gave us some planting tips as well. I picked up a snow bush for $10 and my friend got a jamaica plant and some succulents. We also were allowed to choose an succulent gift as well. You should come here too. read more

We've been at Ricardo's twice now and we are planning on coming back again and again. We've bought several fruit trees that are doing wonderful in our backyard. (They offer next day delivery.) My husband loves their bonsai trees, since they are not only gorgeous but incredibly affordable. Ricardo, Freddy, and two other knowledgeable ladies were of great help! They provided care instructions, age information and what would work together. I found some rare fruit plants and they have a nice collection of indoor plants. I love how honest and dedicated they are to the quality of their trees/plants. I really wanted a rare fruit plant tree the first time we visited, but, their staff was reluctant to sell it to me due to it not looking so well, and today it looked healthy and came home with me. :) Im so glad I found Ricardo on Facebook! We liked the staff. Even though their masks weren't always on. They were very helpful and nice. However, the $90 Christmas tree we bought with the stand in place... a damn mess. They hammer nails through the wood legs, into the green water tub, and into the tree trunk. These holes should be sealed. Ours were not. I called in and was told that they've been selling trees for 13 years and never had that happen. Well my living room has a huge water spot showing that it can happen. Lesson in customer service- if a customer calls in and they have a valid issue, you rectify that concern and keep the customer. You don't tell them "that doesn't make sense" and then offer nothing in return. read more

I took one of Ricardo's Nurseries super fun Saturday workshop classes with my mom and sister! We did the combo class because we got a discount for signing up for both classes they were hosting that day! The first one was painting your alebrije at 10AM where we picked our own hand carved wooden Mexican folklore statue (like the ones in coco!!) we had such a fun time painting them!! We grabbed lunch around the corner at this cute and trendy little center and At 2 we started the ice cream workshop!!!!! SOOO YUM and all natural ingredients. Sad part was we didn't take enough pics :( fun fun fun for the whole family! read more

Big selection. Nice, helpful workers who are easy to find and flag down for help. Lots of different succulents, SOME houseplants, and other kinds of plants. I took a ton of pictures but I have uploaded some here with captions so you can see the diversity of their plants. Disclaimer: I have visited my share of South Bay nurseries so while this place is not bad in any way, I will say that there are other cheaper nurseries with better-cared plants that are not far from here. There are a lot of random weeds in their pots and I did see some mealy bugs in some succulents in the front so be meticulous when looking through the leaves. The houseplant selection is kind of lacking (just one type of pothos - golden) and expensive ($35 for a small-medium monstera) compared to big box stores. I leave a positive review because I did find one of my wishlist plants here and I also got a free 4-inch succulent through Yelp so I had a happy experience. read more

Mostly outdoor plants, but also got a monstera The person helping me was very nice and attentive. I would've given here a cash tip if I had any. Have a great variety of healthy plant, many of which I couldn't find anywhere else, soil blends for plants that like a more acidic soils (my case blueberries), and have a great staff and customer service. I will definitely be back and would 100% recommend them. read more

Ricardo is so nice and an incredible wealth of knowledge when it comes to mango trees. I'm sure his knowledge is way beyond that but it's why we came in for our first visit. We learned so much from him during our half hour there than we did hours of online reading. He taught us about the special soil mix, pruning, and repotting for best success in SoCal Mediterranen climate. From the moment we got there, we were greeted by a young lady (shoot i forgot her name). She was helping us out, then we found Freddy!!! He is amazing! I've been to nursery's before but Ricardo's Nursery was possible the biggest and most beautiful one I've ever been too! Everyone is so friendly and quick to make conversation with you! I've been on the hunt for this beautiful plant called Bougainvillea for a wall I have next to my apartment and they had it! I can't wait to see it flourish and wrap around through the summer. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and not to mention, Freddie was so amazing and nice that he let me pick out a succulent before I left! I'll definitely be back!
