Today was a sad day. We have been coming here for years and always loved our time. We have spent a lot on their wines over the years and had gotten to know the owners before they retired. We used to recommend Rio to everyone. Today we went as a family as we always did. We bought a charcuterie plate and were sitting and enjoying ourselves. The new owner came out and asked if we were buying any wine. We told him we had purchased some food. He then replied with "This is a winery, not a public park!" We asked "What do you mean by that?" And he said "Figure it out!" and walked away. Needless to say, we will never go back. :( read more

Over charged for one bottle of wine by about $40. Asked for receipt but was told they don't do that. Not good experience.

Beautiful place for wine tasting or just to sit and have a glass of wine. The grounds were beautiful and right in the river. I forget her name, but she was wonderful explaining the wine and telling us about the history of the winery. Interesting was of winetasting. They give you a little plastic cup of each wine on a board marked with what each one is, and you pour into your own glass at your leisure! read more

Beautiful winery along the Columbia River. We tasted a flight of 4 whites (at a tasting fee of $10.00, it is a bit pricey for only 4 tastes, but the pours were generous). We bought a bottle of our favorite (the Chardonnay) and took it out on the deck so we could enjoy the view while sipping our wine. The winery grounds are very large, and include grassy areas and a beach. To find the winery, turn on the gravel road between mileposts 244 and 245. It is a fairly narrow, winding road, so be alert for oncoming traffic. It is worth the effort to get there, you'll see. read more

Wine Slushies....Need I say more? These things are amazingly good and quite original. We have visited a couple times and we always feel welcome and enjoy the cozy feeling here. The cute cabin and warm fireplace are great for winter visits and allow you to enjoy the slushies even in winter! In fact I have only visited in winter so I have not experienced the slushies on a warm summer day.... can't wait to return and experience that! read more

Just visited this weekend and they had some new wines for us to taste. New favorite: 2010 Viognier! YUM! And we joined the wine club, which is new. These guys just get better and better! If you are visiting, be sure to use their new drive way to the north. There is a tiny sign at the old turn-off from Hwy 97 on the river, directing you to the new entrance, it's a couple miles up the road and doesn't look like anything except a break in the guard rail until you are almost past it. read more

I was around this area on vacation and I found myself here drinking a very delightful rosé. I found a cozy table to sit at that was adjacent to a window so I could look out and enjoy the wine. Excellent. The lady that served me the wine was very nice and kind and had very good handwriting as she was writing up the wines on the board for other wine tasters. I LOVE Rio Vista Winery. My in-laws live in Chelan and every time we come to see them this is a required visit. The owners are so relaxed and great to chat with, the wines are really awesome and their daughter who does water colors has a ton of prints and paintings for sale in the tasting room. For my birthday this year they were nice enough to open for a few hours just for us so we could enjoy their wonderful view and have some great wine and snacks. This was a wonderful birthday present. Sadly, they aren't taking anymore wine club members, but their wine is really fantastic go in and try it, get a glass and look at the wonderful view. You will not be disappointed. read more

My sister in law and I shared a large size wine slushie. It cost us $33.00 with a to go bottle fee. For what we got, the price was to much. We each got 2 small glasses. The taste was okay but to much like an overly sweet slurpee. The first glass was okay, the 2nd glass was better and if I'd had a 3rd glass I might have been okay with the price. read more

We had a great experience here with our 1 year old and 4 year old. Tasty wines (we loved the Rosé, Tempranillo, and Rio Vista Red blend), beautiful setting, and lots of room for the kiddos to run around. The private beach was amazing (we had it all to ourselves)! I am a member at five different wineries and Rio Vista was one of them. The parents who where amazing people retired. Since their son and daughter-in-law took it over the friendly enviornment has left. The son is rude, intimidating, and offish. The wife was curt, demeaning and treated you less than a person. The tense unfriendly environment was not worth the trip to the winery or to be a member. Likewise, they have raised their prices and have outpriced themselves compared to the qualities of their wines. I plan to never go back and am canceling my membership. However, Tisillian Cellars and Lake Chelan Winery are worth seeing and your very much welcomed when you step in the door. read more

We sought out the Cabin at Rio Vista specifically for their wine slushies. The cabin itself was pretty small and quaint and cozy. We got the mango slushy and it was $8.66 including tax for a small glass. They don't use any ice in their slushies which was pretty cool. The slushy itself was pretty good but pricey for what it was. The girl that helped us also could have been nicer. Might be back if we are in the area but probably won't seek it out again. read more

This is one of our favorite spots. Reminiscent of the Big Pine winery, it just feels like you're home. Their Cab Franc is by far the best in the area - bold enough for those who want a little more than what you might find in a French CF; plus it finishes well. the Viognier is stellar, off dry yet just enough fruit that its great for just drinking by itself on a summer day. You won't find either of these now though, they sold out by end of summer. But the Barbera is showing promise and their Wacky White and Loony Red are reliable favs. Jan and John Little, the owners, are awesome as are Jack, Rocky and the other 4-legged greeters who live on the beautiful grounds overlooking the Columbia river. Don't miss hitting this unique family run winery. They do in fact, keep getting better. read more

Recently had my wedding here ( may 17th 2014)-- I am thrilled we choose this place. Kelsey and her mom were beyond amazing. Great communication throughout the process.. I live in SoCal, and found the place online. I got a great deal on the place, and honestly, they could have charged so much more for such a great space. I will start from our drive up to see the place. ( i live in California, but grew up in Chelan)--- It is off US HWY 97-- off a dirt road, but once we turned to make a right into Rio Vista Winery, it was like a paradise. Beautifully upkept greenery, luscious tree's, the Columbia River was just stunning. We got married under a willow tree that was feet away from the river. We were able to use the cellar to store the flowers and we had plenty of time to set up and decorate ( although Kelsey and her mom helped A TON w/ that) We had a walk through a few days before the wedding, figured out where tables would go, food set up, ceremony location.. they thought of details that I didnt even think of. the day of the wedding was great, Kelsey and her mom set up the table, linens, flowers, decorations.. they were super super helpful. I was very thankful they were there. Their role wasnt just that of owners, but more of coordinators for the event... thats the feeling i got from the entire process. Throughout the night, they would check in with myself and my husband and made sure everything was perfect. I also was able to use a gorgeous room w/ a private bathroom for prepping ( it had a balcony w/ view of the river). They were also able to provide a room for the groom/groomsmen to set up. I would highly recomment to any future bride, to atleast look at the place in person. It is like a hidden paradise. I havent received photos of the wedding, but I will post them as soon as I recieve them. On a side note, they have a cute play area for children ( faw away from wedding to where it wouldnt interrupt the look of a wedding, yet close enough to keep an eye on the kids.) read more

We went to the brand new tasting room in Manson and were delighted by the log cabin ambience with comfy seating around the fire and charming hosts, part of the wine maker's family. Most importantly, we really like the wine and had not been to the winery itself , so this will be a new addition to our regular wine stops in town. Coffee Cabin Review in Manson, WA: 5 stars for WINE. I was super excited to find the cute, new coffee bar last night & couldn't wait to go this morning (they offer 36 oz drinks!). Major buzz kill. Coffee bar staff squashed my happy high. They were frowning, grouchy, unfriendly, inattentive, didn't want to chat, overcharged me, didn't fill the top 2 inches of my 20 oz beverage, & made a crappy drink. I went from thrilled to bummed quickly. Drive-up was not ready so I had to park & walk up. By the time I tasted my drink I was back in my car. The idea of returning to the coffee bar seemed too depressing. Zero stars for the cute Coffee Cabin- so disappointing. I'll be getting my coffee at the Red Apple Coffee Bar down the street. read more

Probably one of my favorite wineries to visit because the wines are fabulous and the location is so beautiful and expansive. You can stroll the grounds, sit on the andirondack chairs made from wine barrels and watch your kids play, or swing on the tree swing. You can easily spend and hour or two just relaxing here on the river's edge. Their viognier is great and they have a couple award winning reds that are unforgettable. They also have a tasting room in Manson. read more

Our favorite winery in Washington! We discovered this place when we purchased a Groupon for a seaplane flight from Chelan with wine tasting, and ever since when we have traveled the Cascade Loop, we have stopped in. We especially enjoyed long conversations with John behind the bar (on one occasion he even showed us his recent vacation photos) and swimming in the river from their beach. Hence we didn't hesitate in choosing Rio Vista winery for our wedding, and it was a fantastic choice! They may not be as ritzy as other wineries in Chelan, but they are better! Their grounds just have a welcoming vibe that all our guests could feel, and with their new dance floor under the trees, they have ideal premises for a wedding. We had our ceremony under the willow tree, and I was very worried about the near 100 deg F weather and sun (our ceremony was at 3 PM), but turns out there was considerable shade for our older guests. An early dinner was under their trees near the entrance and had lots of welcome shade. Wine is excellent; our favorite is the Viognier and their whites, but many of our guests really liked the Cabernet. They were flexible on the day adding extra wines that were proving popular, and changing out wines that were less popular. Kristen and Kelsey were great to work with, and thought of many important little details which we hadn't considered. In fact, of all our vendors they were the best to work with: prompt in replying to questions, easy-going, and thinking about how to make the day great. Only thing we would have changed in hindsight is planning an hour longer. We could have kept partying all night! read more
