Stopped by towards the end of our wine tasting day and found this gem! The winery is absolutely gorgeous. We went to the tasting room on the upper floor to order our drinks. The staff was really kind and helpful. We wanted to get glasses, and they let us try a few before deciding. I didn't love any of the wines, but it was also 92 degrees out and I was pretty thirsty so that could have impacted my perception of them. I will say, glass prices are steep here. Our white wines were about $18 per glass. We sat on the lower lawn on couches in the shade and enjoyed live music. It was SO lovely! This is such a beautiful spot- just far enough out to be quiet and surrounded by nature without being so far off the road that it's hard to get to. read more

On our first trip to Chelan, our friend who knows her way around the area insisted on lunch here, and after arriving we could see why. The view is truly unbeatable with gorgeous panoramas of the lake, surrounding mountains, and the vineyards. The tasting room has a couple levels with both inside and outside seating options. We settled ourselves on the edge with a beautiful view of the lake and ordered wine and lunch. While their mostly gluten forward menu doesn't offer much for those of us with celiac disease, I was thrilled to find out they were willing to lettuce stake their sandwiches. I went for the eggsalad sandwich on lettuce instead of bread and it was quite good. The sangiovese I got was not bad and the whole group found something they enjoyed. While the food and wine were both good, the view was really the selling point and definitely worth the trip. read more

Visited Benson Vineyards based on recommendation from a local and so glad we did. The tastings were $15 for 4 samples unless you bought a bottle. The wine was very smooth and pleasant to the taste but the real star was the stunning view from the tastings room and seating outside. We ordered a cheese meat tray that was excellent. What a fabulous view! Enjoyed a glass, okay a bottle of wine with friends! The rose is a bit on the sweeter side, if that is not your preference I would recommend another option. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the amazing view and wonderful ambiance! The wine was a bit sweet for me but I would definitely go back to try another bottle. I'll start with this: the views and the space are stunning...but that's about the only highlight I can really mention. We tried 3 wineries tastings today, and this one almost much felt self-serve. The $15 tasting included 4 glasses, waived when you purchase a bottle. We got a merlot, syrah, cab sauv, and reserve syrah, the hostess marked the glasses, and we brought them outside. To be fair, the bottles were more reasonably priced ranging between $25-35. However, none of the wines really stuck out to us, a few notable flavors here and there, but nothing to rave about. Additionally, we felt very rushed. The two of us arrived mid Friday afternoon with only 1 other party seated outside, and having barely glanced at the menu, the hostess asked if we had made decisions. This was our first winery stop, and learned nothing about the the winery. What wines are they known for, what makes their winery different, etc. Again, the space is really beautiful, tons of outdoor tables that each had great views, but with so many other options, it's not my first recommendation. read more

Went to 2 other wineries first. Benson was not cheap but about 25% less expensive than the others. They gave you 4 tastings for $15 and we split the tasting. At the other wineries, you only had 4 choices but here there were a lot more and you could pick the ones you wanted. They gave us 4 glasses and marked the initials of the wines on the bottom of the glasses. Other wineries poured all the wines in the same glass. We bought 2 bottles of wine and they had a really nice rose and a red blend for $100 a case. I made the mistake of specifying a 10% tip, forgetting that the cases of wine would be included in the total, my bad. Enjoyable experience. Went home with 26 bottles of wine for $300. No regrets. Wine was great when we tried it at home. read more

Side note, cafe is disappointing and spendy, separate from Winery although on site. Charcuterie board was a joke, 2 sliced deli cheese cut into 4s, artichoke hearts bland, salami not flavorful and small for almost $25 dollars, margaritas pizza bland, cold and cheese not melted, although crust was burnt??? Benson continues to be a favorite winery when in Chelan. The wines are excellent, the views are amazing and the staff are lovely. What's not to like? Tastings are conducted with the customer taste in mind; if they feel they don't have exactly what your prefer, they eagerly refer you to a fellow winery to match your presence because they feel your taste satisfaction is the top priority. The tasting room is lovely. A recent visit during the wintertime revealed the view is just as amazing in winter as it is during summer. This was our first stop in our trip to Lake Chelan. We came because their wines are mostly from the Lake Chelan AVA. We were warned their whites are sweeter than most places and the warning was correct; thank you. They were too sweet for our taste. However, they do a wonderful Viognier; not sweet and very flavorful. They also do a nice Syrah. It is nice to see a Syrah with flavor that is not hidden by big tannins. Yes, we bought both wines. They do a nice pizza here. We did not try any because we had reservations elsewhere. We hope to come back to the valley, so plan to try their pizza on our next visit. For a $10 tasting fee, you can choose 4 wines from their list (5 whites and 11 reds when we visited). This fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. We were also able to split one tasting between 2 people. If I recall correctly, we tried: Curious, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Ruby Port. I think they were all pretty good, but honestly I do wine tasting more for fun, but rarely drink wine at home. We did end up getting a bottle of the Curious because it was only $20 and our $10 tasting fee would be waived. Might as well spend an extra $10 to go home with a bottle! The grounds were pretty despite it being a cold and rainy day. You can see the lake and vineyards. They also had the fire pits on, making outside more bearable. read more

I hope you like your wines sweet and your servers salty. For the view, it is a must see. Do go up the hill and check it out and do enjoy the delicious pizza downstairs. But stop for tastings at one of the better wineries down the hill. And for the woman behind the counter who asked to see ID for 2 of 4 in our party, then proceeded to explain rudely why some of us looked older; that's not going to sell you any bottles. If I ever become a wino, this is where I would go! This place is tastefully done, kind of has a tuscan villa feel to it. Very European looking. The 5 stars alone are for the stunning views of Chelan! This winery is situated on the top of a hill overlooking the lake. It is quite the site! However, it feels like it's 50' away from the sun... feels like 10 degrees hotter up there. Man O man! I think they need to have misters on the patio and some coverage down below where a lot of the seating is. Truth be told no one wants to sit out in the blazing 100 degree sun. We took a 7-mile scenic detour through Manson that began on SR 150 on our way to Winthrop. On our way we saw a few wineries including Benson Vineyard so on the spur of the moment took a long and winding gravel road up a hill to the breathtakingly beautiful winery overlooking Lake Chelan. Our host was Jeff Benson, son of the owner, who offered us a free tasting of 4 different wines with us choosing to sample a Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabriovese and Cabernet Sauvignon with the latter being the best. We learned all the grapes used in the wines are grown on site. Since it was a gorgeous day, we decided to linger by ordering glasses of the winery's 2013 merlot that were enjoyed on the balcony overlooking both the vineyard, Lake Chelan and distant hills. read more

Amazing place to sit and drink a glass of wine. The tasting room sits above the Vines and looks down onto the lake. I would says a place to go year round. I came at the tail end of winter and love it. The wines are good as well. The have a 4 wines tastings for free with 12+ wines to choose. However, when my other aunt who is not Caucasian tried to do wine testing as well she was told it was busy and sent downstairs even though they were only five people in total. Fun to sit and enjoy the views, but the wine, a 2020 Viognier was almost undrinkable. It was sweet like syrup, almost sickening. Yuck.

Benson Vineyards was my first winery experience, and it was great! One of my friends who moved to Chelan recommended us visiting here while staying in Manson. It's at the top of a hill on the north end of the lake, right between Chelan and Manson. The view is incredible! You can see so much of the lake and so far around you, plus a huge section of the vineyard. The woman who poured our tastings was super sweet and bubbly. She was able to recommend wines that fit my taste profile, even though I know very little about wine. You're allowed 4 free tastings - my favorites were the white wines! We bought a bottle to share between my group, so we sat outside overlooking the lake and chatted. The estate is absolutely beautiful, and definitely has that Italian feel going on. There was a live band playing some funky rock, which was super fun to listen to. It was be a beautiful spot for a wedding, but is also casual enough for groups to just relax and drink some wine! I really want to like Benson more than I do because the location is absolutely stunning and it's a nice place to come with people for a tasting. I've tasted here three or four times. I keep coming back when in Chelan because I want to love it. The views are amazing, the people are pretty friendly, and they always have a good selection of varietals and blends to try. But it's a winery and that means the wine is what I care most about -- and I've never been wowed. We were here a couple of days ago. I was in the mood to try and buy, but nothing made the cut. 5 stars for location/views, 4 for service in the tasting room, 3 for the wine. Wine controls the review. I am more interested in a tasting room in an industrial park with amazing reds than so so wine in a beautiful spot, so your mileage may vary if you feel the opposite. Benson is worth a stop but not worth taking a case home, in my opinion. read more

Views were fantaatic and typically they have live music, but ya know, COVID. Good wines and perfect atmosphere. Nobody wore masks but that is out of their control in my opinion. My friends stopped in here for some wine tasting and loved every minute of it. First off, the view is AMAZING. I loved the setup - you can sit outside near fire pits, on the deck, or inside next to the fire, or just stand at the bar and chat with friends or the friendly employee/owner. We tried several wines and every damn one of them was DELICIOUS. I usually prefer red wine but the white wines were amazing. I am no wine expert so I can't tell you what I drank but I drank a wide variety and loved all of them that I tried. Jeff, one of the owners, was super cool to talk to. He was warm, friendly, funny, down to earth, and informative. He was really great and we enjoyed our time at Benson Winery. Only request is to have some type of food offerings, even in the winter months. We wanted some cheese, meat, or bread with our wine but there was absolutely no food (other than Dove chocolates) on site. We will be back! read more

This winery has the best dessert wines I have ever had. EVER. The winemaker gave us our tasting, defended my preference for white wines when my companions began to berate me, and promptly gave me the most entertaining, informative presentation I have ever had at a winery. There 2 different rooms to taste in so it's less crowded than many of the other wineries. Outside seating area, great view, food and live music make this place a "must-stop-at" every time I come to town. Kudos to Benson at Chelan! No dogs allowed!!! read more

Beautiful winery, family run (Benson brothers at the bar!), and more upscale than some of the other wineries in the area but nice and worth going to if you are in the area. We did the free tastings here (4 or 5, either whites or reds) and then took a bottle home. Walked around outside and they had a cover band playing in the afternoon. Very lovely visit here! read more
