The room is awesome. Very spacious, clean from what I can see and accommodating. a bit disappointed…read morewith the waterpark. so cold! air temp and water temp. i was actually uncomfortable the entire time I was in there with my daughter. The resort itself is a bit confusing to navigate. It's not just a straight shot to the room. They are divided into sections and you can only access your room by your "letter." would maybe stay again. Not sure.

My family and I don't travel often so as for comparison I don't have much to go by, but what I will…read moresay is do not let the negative reviews sway you from this place. I was pleasantly surprised at all it had to offer, even if we did stay for just a night. Coming from northwest Indiana, it was just under 3-hour drive and my two kids under 10 had a blast. The water park resort rooms are a bit dated if you are comparing it to Grand Geneva Hotel, but everything was tidy. It had a 12-cup coffee maker (bring filters and coffee if you are particular like me about coffee), a toaster, blender, full sized fridge, microwave, dishwasher, plates, silverware, cups etc. Soap and a sponge for the sink dishes were nice of them to provide for clean up as well. The room was spacious even for a one bedroom and slept two adults and 2 kids wonderfully. Plenty of space for sitting at the table as well in the kitchen area. The waterpark had PLENTY of lifeguards on duty, a lazy river that was decently laid out, an adults only hot tub and an indoor/outdoor hot tub, a kids play area, two slides and a swimming area. With it being winter the outside pools were closed. There were also various crafts outside the waterpark area for the kids for an upcharge. For the negative: The place is pretty spendy so make sure to account for extra expenses. The cafe in the waterpark area is a bit overpriced in my opinion. Two bags of chips, two drinks and a pina colada that seemed to have no alcohol for 30$. The arcade, even though the games are great and it has many, takes too many credits for each game play. The gift shop by the lobby had ice cream and a small coffee station for a charge. There is a restaurant in the hotel for a breakfast option, but it's not the greatest quality for what you pay for. For dinner we went to the buffet at the Grand Cafe at the other hotel and that was nice, but again, unless you eat 3+ plates of food I don't think it's worth the 50 per adult. Our hotel room had no blankets, only sheets, make sure you ask for extras. Also, if you plan to be at the waterpark all day, a cabana rental may be worth it, we arrived at 3pm and went to swim immediately and there were NO chairs to put our things down on, it seems to be staked out pretty early. All in all we will go back in the summer and see what else the resort has to offer, and we won't mind staying again at Timber Ridge, we will just know what to plan for next time to save on expenses.

I navigated finding the property, parking, hallways, and my room in the dark. Everything felt calm and organized as it could be once I was in the room. I didn't do nighttime entertainment exploring of the resort though due to no power. As a hotel and conference space, it worked very well. The grounds are expansive, the facilities were solid for meetings, and breakfast was enjoyable. I later learned it once housed a recording studio that one of my favorite albums was recorded at (as part of a Playboy Mansion outpost) which makes me curious to return and explore more. Overall, a solid stay -- 4 stars.

The Christmas decorations were nothing short of amazing. Literally Christmas EVERYWHERE. and the kids could climb on anything. They do a cute little Santa letter pick up by the elves every day at 4pm and my daughter loved this. Our suite was nice. Comfy bed. Updated. Highly recommend upgrading to a suite if you can afford it. Room service was just OK, the first night we called it went to voicemail and they never called back. It was odd. The service was so-so. Front desk staff were great. The brunch spot in the lobby had terrible service... they didn't even think to ask we needed a high chair or chair in general for our little one. Just sat us with no seat for her. The bar in the lobby had one bartender. It took 40+ minutes to get drinks. Overall, I'd come back for the nostalgia of Christmas! But I will be going into town more often for services and food.
