I first contacted Good Faith Energy to help with solar planning for an all-electric house build I was building in Dallas, TX. While the house was still in the pre-drywall phase, I wanted to make sure that anything that could be added in the construction phase to help with solar installation later was done. Good Faith Energy helped me out, and for a nominal fee, they designed an electrical plan and coordinated with the builder on what components would make installation easier in the future. My original plan was to build the house and live in the house for a year to figure out my electricity needs, and then design a solar system around my usage. However, after moving in in early 2025, I decided to proceed with solar installation given my fear that the solar tax credit would be going away soon. I explored several solar companies, but ultimately picked Good Faith Energy. They were familiar with the products I was interested in (REC solar panels, SPAN panels, and Tesla Powerwall 3). They are very involved with the community and post very insightful videos on YouTube. You can tell that their owner and all of the employees are passionate about what they sell and install, and truly care about selecting the right solar system for you. My sales associate with Sammy, who was happy to provide different quotes, and he offered me very good suggestions about things I hadn't thought of. Joe was the engineer that worked on the plans, and he was also incredibly helpful and patient with me. He understood my desire to maximize the number of panels on my roof space, and tried out different ways with the design to maximize solar production. Samantha and Amanda were excellent project managers, who kept me informed throughout the entire project. My install was a bit more complicated than a typical residential system. My house is all-electric, and I have a 320 amp service powering two 200 amp panels. As a result, I ultimately went with a 28.5 kW REC solar panel system powering two separate sets of Tesla Powerwall 3 (5 total). Special shoutout to our electrician Ronnie and the site manager Shane, along with the rest of the Good Faith Energy install team, who battled some of the hottest days this summer to install the project on time. Their attention to detail was impressive, and the result is a very clean install. I live in a conservation district in Dallas, and as a result, I needed approval from the conservation district as well as from the City of Dallas. It took several months to get a permit, but Good Faith Energy had experience with this and knew how to handle it. There was one minor rough patch. We scheduled a city inspection two weeks ahead of schedule, but Good Faith Energy wasn't there where the city inspector came, which generated an immediate red-tag. However, this was ironed out by the next week, and we received a green tag after just one inspection the following week. Since the install, I've had a couple minor issues with the system, but Good Faith Energy was quick to respond and resolve the issues. I have been left with a feeling that this company stands behind their project. In the end, for such a complex and expensive project, I have had an extremely positive experience working with Good Faith Energy, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a solar install in DFW.

Jonathan, who is the project manager at BSES, was able to come out quickly and address thoroughly all his findings with photos and even went as far as the attic to recommend even new decking with a radiant barrier. Fast and efficient- They started on time and kept to the schedule of finishing my roof in one day. 2. Quality work- They replaced rotten support beams and used proper length nails for fastening shingles to decking. The shingles were cut straight with sharp blades and looked very neat, even, and symmetrical. They even came out the next day and adjusted any shingles or vents to the highest of standards. I really liked they even did a final walkthrough inspection on the third visit to make sure everything was done accordingly. 3. Clear Communication -All my questions were answered before, during, and after with lots of explanation and detail. I could call, text, or email and never felt like a nuisance to them. 4. Organized- Jonathan was able to get all the supplies for the roof delivered before the roof job and was even able to put up roof netting before his crew even showed up to do the work. He even scheduled our gutters to be installed a couple days after and they came on time too. 5. Clean and tidy- they used netting to catch all roof debris, magnetic nail rollers for nails, and they made it look like they were never there. 6. Great Customer Service- Jonathan was exceptional. He gave us 110% at every visit. He answered all my questions, checked all the work thoroughly, and very detailed oriented. He was the only roofer I contacted out of 3 that actually told me there was something wrong with my brand new roof. He was just a really nice genuine guy and treated me like family. 7. I have had James Kate Roofing out to my house several times, twice for leaks and twice for…read moreinspections. When we had a horizontal rain several years past, I nearly had my sheetrock collapse near my chimney. Called James Kate, and they not only repaired my entire chimney, but also pointed out five leaks...two by the builder, and three more by previous re-roofs by different companies due to incorrectly installed flashing. Earlier this year, I noticed a ceiling discoloration in the front living area. Again, due to incorrectly installed flashing. They not only repaired everything, but also put in thermal barrier under the shingles. Hopefully won't need a roof replacement soon, but will call James Kate if that occurs.

The leaves had collected in a section over the garage causing water to back up under the shingles which caused water to run off into the garage. Not only did Daniel give me an estimate to fix the problem he got up on the roof with his blower and blew the leaves off so, if it rains again, I will know for sure that the problem was the result of the leaves and not hail damage. Solar as an industry needs to mature. Too much profit chasing and not enough service for the cost…read more I wanted to believe that Longhorn Solar was different but kept running into problems. Planning and communication needs work. I never knew when the work was to be done until the night before. The wrong parts or lack of parts on the first install date was a bad sign. Then the second install date and still not able to operate on solar until 2 weeks later - yet they want their payment right away. The worst was when I lost power to the house after the transfer box was installed. This was on a Friday afternoon. I called to ask for help but had to send an email for support. Support said it wasn't their issue, but it was, a bad breaker. I had to find and pay for my own electrician to fix it. I was reimbursed but that didn't excuse the lack of support. The 24-hour support team finally responded back to me 5 days later after I sent the video of the bad breaker arcing. I could go on but I think you get the idea. There are some good people there but as a company, it's just not the quality and service expected for the price paid. Value is directly related to the price vs quality mentioned.
