The Yoga instructor, Lila, is incredibly attentive and is really focussed on tailoring each movement to the individual needs of each member of the class. She also gives a bit of a running narrative as you are going through the Yoga positions, so you get a sense of exactly what health benefits each movement has, which I find helpful (if I'm going to go through pain and discomfort, it helps to know why). The classes are a really good workout, but not overly strenuous. They are actually quite relaxing, as Lila finishes each class with meditation or breathing exercises, so you leave with a zen feeling that you take all the way home. I couldn't speak highly enough about this class, particularly for beginners.

I figured that committing to two classes per week, at 1.5 hours each, I would finally catch that yoga bug or die trying. The classes were good, the instructor very patient and hands-on. It was definitely the most physically demanding yoga practice I've tried (yet a hell of a lot more enjoyable than Bikram) - really, I think if any practice was going to get me hooked, it would be Ashtanga. But it didn't. I think it's no fault of the school - I can't fault them - it's just I lack the earnestness required for yoga. So, while I'm clearly too spiritually deficient for Ashtanga, I wouldn't hesitate recommending these classes to anyone after quality yoga instruction.

The studio is a giant bright and airy space with another tiny upstairs studio as well. Despite it being situated right on Queens Parade, once those doors are closed you can't hear another sound except your own (and other fellow yogis) deep breaths. This form of yoga uses a variety of props, including ropes, 'bricks', chairs, blankets and bolsters which are all provided so you don't need to bring a thing! The teachers are all very friendly and make sure to pull or push you into the right position. They are also very helpful with any questions after. I was at sure at first whether I would like this form of yoga, (and also the school), but I'm now a Iyengar convert!

Compared to other gyms out there it's a no frills operation, elevated by the dedication and enthusiasm of the trainers. They infect the club with the energy. It's best for weights and weight machines, everything being clean and well maintained and quickly attended to if something is broken. The only thing missing from my selfish perspective is a stair master. They don't run classes (such as pump, combat ect) but the trainers run their own version, with kettle bells and boxing on regular offer. Talk to the trainers - they know their stuff. The Jetts price model is absolutely reasonable and I think some of the best value out there. They also have reciprocal rights between all Jetts gyms, join one, join them all. With 24 hour access, it's pretty good value for money. Head down and see Jesse and his crew, they are always friendly and willing to show you the best way to do things.
