I had a really fun time coming here! They really try to immerse you in the culture of New York. You start off "riding" the subway and learning about some of the history of Times Square (perfect that the location is in Times Square). Then you walk through the museum. They make it visually appealing with bright colors, different visuals, and bring in a nice mix of historic and contemporary references. For the last part, you ride a 4D lift where it flies you through the most iconic New York areas - Central Park, WTO, Statue of Liberty, etc. It's a little scary if you're a bit afraid of heights, but they have enough bars for you to hang on to and they make sure you're strapped in at the beginning of the ride. One frustrating thing about my experience was the lines. You have to wait at the beginning to get let into the first subway ride, and we waited in a couple different rooms before getting on the last lift ride. read more

Great experience and such an amazing staff. The people there were so nice and made the place feel so fun. You get to go through the times and big events of New York learning about the Subways, New York Fashion, Music, and of course Broadway. After learning about all of that you get to go on a ride almost exactly like "Soarin' over California" In Disneyland. I loved this place. We were running a bit late due and the staff were lovely and we were allowed straight in. The information in the museum on the way through was great! Lots of outfits, props and photo opportunities. And the ride at the end was so much fun. Would love to do this again and would definitely recommend. read more

Pros: the opening film about the history NYC by Jeff Goldblum and the 8D ride-- if they had prolonged or added more of these type of formats it would have been a much greater experience. Cons: quasi- museum displays that highlighted very elementary facts about the city (felt like it was done on the cheap), and two needless experiences: one was in a phony freight elevator and the other was standing in queues watching black and white TVs simulating New Years Eve. We had an amazing experience at RiseNY! The museum was interesting and exciting. We learned a lot of cool facts about NY in an innovative way! Loved hanging on the Honeymooners set and Friends couch! The VR ride was the most amazing exciting thrilling and emotional experience. Better than Soarin at Disney! Not worth the wait. They try too hard to make the museum part worthwhile. The 5-6 minute immersive ride is cool but it's not worth the waiting in line outside and then inside for what they charge. The VIP upgrade is a total ripoff. You get nothing for it. You're waiting in all the same lines. No faster at all. They should just allow you to do the ride for 20-25 bucks. That's really all you need. If there's a line, go do something else. read more

This place is awesome!!! I took my son last week. We had a great time. The hip-hop museum was small but amazing!!! The honeymoon stage looks identical to the actual stage.They show you a video on the history of Time Square. The best part is definitely the ride at the end will you fly through New York City. I wouldn't even give this a one star rating. That is too generous. This ride ruined my day. Not because of the ride itself, but a particular worker there. She was wearing cherry jewelry, glasses, and highlighted hair. Very disrespectful worker, and needs to be talked to about her people skills. My family was told to go through the door by someone there and she got angry with us in a very disrespectful way. Then proceeded to make petty comments about the kids in front of us following the rules better. As a worker you should never make childish comments like that, and never get upset with customers when directions weren't clear. I hope no one gets treated like this especially when you pay a hefty amount. read more

I usually love these types of museums, but this wasn't cutting it. We waited an hour in line for it to drag on for practically forever, and the employees definitely overbooked the place. Probably would be a great spot during off season, but do not go during Christmas season. read more

I'm a native NYer and had seen this featured in the local news. Definitely disappointing in several ways. First the ticket price. Really? An additional $8 ticket fee when I'm buying right at the location?? The exhibits were just okay. Few authentic pieces. Direction was confusing from entry through continuing through the museum especially after "subway ride". The history of Times Square and NYE was well done but could have had more information and details and really should be the focal point of the museum rather than having very mediocre history in regard to hip hop, tv, radio, etc. there are other and better venues for that. The 3D movie was well done but way too short. We've seen the Jimmy Fallon ride at Universal which was amazing and sorry this falls short. More for our money please!! read more

I'm from NY and I was disappointed with this Ride. It feels like they rushed it too much. First of all, what does NewYears have to do with NY, I get it the ball drops in Time Square. NY, is not just about the Ball Drop. It should be about NY it self. The Ride doesn't show many things about NY like 125th St Harlem or Coney island, Chinatown. Another, the staff isn't too friendly either. You have to show proof of vaccinations but some, some of the staff harassed you to wear the Mask. read more

Went for a team reward activity during dental conference. Everyone loved it. We would rate it as the best "touristy" thing that we did in NYC and it also explained so much about the city and its growth. Interactive feeling that you are on a subway, then a freight elevator and finally "fly" through the air over New York City and see all the great landmarks, including getting sprayed by a tug boat in the harbour. be sure to go early in the day so you can take your time and see all the interesting parts and don't feel rushed. If you don't know a lot about NYC it's a great way to start or nice way to finish off a trip to review all the places you've been. The virtual reality experience is the highlight and worth it... definitely not for those who have a fear of heights.
