Located on Chambers St. in Lower Manhattan, it is in a former bank (the Historic Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank Building), which was a gorgeous view. It is accessible via public transportation including trains A,C,J,Z, 1, 2,3 to Chambers St., trains R & W to City Hall, & 4,5,6 to Brooklyn Bridge. The "Move The Passion" Event was held on 6/8/26. As this was a multi-location event held in 3 different places, Hall des Lumieres was the starting point for some of us to begin this Immersive Experience & Wine Tasting journey. Upon arrival, we went through check-in, received our fantastic goodie bags & proceeded into Hall des Lumieres. There were wine vendors/ wine companies w/ great white, red, rose' & orange wines. Columbian Producer/DJ Maku provided a great music set that livened up the atmosphere. It was nice to learn about various types of wines from various countries. The one-day only immersive pop up of Legally Blonde Elle World was held at the heart of Tribeca, none other than the Hall des Lumières today. Absolutely mesmerized at how huge the space is as an event venue. Can we just talk about the high-ceiling + marble walls + stained glass + its historical, architectural design inside out? Didn't even had any idea about the existence of this breathtaking, luxurious looking event venue, had it not been for today's Elle World Pop Up. The digital art images that you could see and were projected on the screens + walls + ceiling + floor were astounding. Thus, creating masterpieces throughout the entire event venue experience. Such a lively and beautiful experience! Glad to know that the Hall des Lumières is a permanent digital art location. Made the attendees feel like they were part of the immersive event as well. Place is easily accessible of a 2-min walking distance. The 4/5 trains are just around the corner from the Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall Station. With over 30,000 square feet in size, this indoor venue has two floors in total. Mostly used for public art exhibitions + concerts + fashion shows + brand activations. Even used for private events like weddings and corporate dinner parties. Capacity is up to one thousand people in attendance. Restrooms are super clean and tidy. My partner and I have been to the Hall des Lumieres many times and always had a great experience. We were there on Sunday 7/12 at noon and was met with a very rude security guard. When we got to the door he said to us "What are you looking for ". We responded, "isn't this the Hall des Lumieres?" The guard then said, "Yes, what do you want." So as not to escalate anything we showed our tickets and went in. We immediately told the man at the ticket desk how rude and condescending the guard was in a 30 second encounter. Although we still had a great experience at Renaissance Immersive showing, everyone should understand that the experience actually starts at the entrance of the establishment. read more

Images of famous figures of hip hop projected onto the humongous walls of this space called to me. I wanted to be edified on the history of my favorite genre while feeling enveloped by holographs of Dr. Dre, Tupac, and Jay-Z! So I gathered some friends and got us tickets. The exhibit was really well done, taking us through different eras of hip hop, differentiating between west coast and east coast styles, enumerating different feuds, and how the internet completely changed the way music was distributed and talked about. We meandered the halls, saw replicas of records and awards up close. The sound system they have in there is impeccable. I think the novelty of projected images onto huge walls still makes this fun, but with the Van Gogh exhibit and other exhibits like this cropping up all over the city and as the novelty fades, I can't see them justifying the $50+ per ticket price tag. read more

I came here for a free whiskey event 7 months ago. The space was beautiful and the inside looked like a grand hall. I went by myself and made friends with some folks on the line. We sat at these huge long tables [think Harry Potter's dining hall] so we could see the stage and hosts. We were taken on a journey through visuals, sounds and whiskey flights. It was a larger than life immersive experience. I was transported to Irelands northern coast, in the middle of NYC. Bushmills is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. It was a great experience and I was educated on the distilling process, tasting notes and their deep rooted family history and heritage. The event only lasted 2 days so I was in rare form for this event. Where else can you take a trip to Ireland and back in one night? No passport. No TSA line. There were pillars of some sort that blocks some of the show. There were several ppl there and very limited seats so I couldn't possibly move to another seat or stand infront of ppl. On 12/3/22, we came to the Gustave Klimt Gold in Motion Exhibit at Hall des Lumières *49 Chambers St. NYC. The outside building's architecture is magnificent! The basement wall panels provide excellent information on the large street level immersive art exhibit. The large exhibit has a cool walk up balcony, which makes the exhibit an incredible viewing experience. Wonderful classical music plays, while video exhibits "PULSATE" around you. There's approximately 5 immersive art videos on the street level. In addition, check out the two smaller immersive exhibits in the basement One is behind an old bank vault door. A cool gift shop is available on the street level. Customer service and security were very helpful and highly professional. Restrooms are located in the basement. There are a lot of stairs to the basement. An elevator is available. Security can escort you. Thanks to all the people who were involved putting this wonderful production together! We thought the entire exhibit was mesmerizing!!! *Here's some cool interesting history of the beautiful building located at 49 Chambers St.: Constructed in 1911, the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank was designed by Raymond F. Checked out COSMOS and I was blown away... staff greeted upon entrance and was very friendly. Lockers are available complimentary to store items. Locker area neat and clean. I also saw some parents storing strollers by the door that did not block the entrance. The space is big and beautiful. The shoe was fantastic and last for about 45 minutes. There is no rush . You can stay as long as you like just that it plays in a loop. The bathroom was clean and there was an attendant. Easy to find as it's by all major subway stops! I enjoyed this event very much. My favorite painting is Gustav Klimt's The kiss and will see it in in Vienna one day. I came on opening day . There was a line for noon time but went quickly. Most of the people were in the main hall but I decided to go to the basement - it was my intimate and had a soft round couch that I sat in. This venue is gorgeous with beautifully painted high ceilings and several grand rooms to explore. We came for Destination Cosmos: the Immersive Space Experience. After they take your tickets, you enter the "historical hall" which is covered in screens wall to wall and on the floor. There are a few couches sprinkled throughout the hall for seating. You can sit and watch the 50 minute video which takes you through a rough timeline of human space exploration with stunning views of the moon, sun, planets, and various galaxies. Even though the first stop is the "historical hall," downstairs you will find the "immersive hall" which is showing the same video but has mirrors and different views. In my opinion, this is a better, more experiential place to watch the video for the first time. We came after we'd already watched it once upstairs but felt it would have been better in the second location. The immersive hall has bean bags that you can lounge on to gaze the visuals from all angles. The video plays in a loop and you can stay as long as you like. There are raised platforms in each room so you can watch from an elevated view as well. Though the video is engrossing and will definitely be appreciated by space experts and novices alike, the exhibit overall was underwhelming. We thought there would be more to see and do to learn about space and NASA but the video is really it. The video is a nice balance of scientific precision with artful curation. It definitely sends you floating into the cosmos, embracing just how small Earth and the human experience is. It's moving, but they could have done much more for the ticket price. It seems like this venue hosts a bunch of similar style exhibits with various themes. It was cool, but not sure there was enough offered for me to go back. read more

I went here for the Destination Cosmos exhibit. I think my expectations were a bit high. The visuals and music are absolutely wonderful, but overall there isn't much to the experience in terms of information and learning. I think it's good if you want a place to look at cool videos and hear out-of-this-world sounds (see what I did there?), But overall, it lacks if you're an avid astronomy enthusiast like myself. It's alright if you're around and have nothing to do, but don't expect too much. The entire experience is about 30mins to an hour. We saw Destination Cosmos here. It's a large (gorgeous, beaux arts) room with projected video - like a 360 degree IMAX. I think I expected more dedicated space to each topic (ie, Mars room, moon room, Saturn room) but this was still interesting. I would recommend going downstairs to the immersive room right away - much more fun to see things for the first time in that space, I don't think it's worth it to watch the loop twice. Seating is minimal on both floors. The "selfie booth" is all Klimt themed, nothing for Destination Cosmos, which was weird. Not a bad way to spend 45 mins though. read more

The price is quite steep, especially if you decide to purchase tickets within 2 hours of entering! The door price totals to ~$43 which is not cheap for an hour experience. To save a few dollars, plan ahead by reserving tickets online at least 3-5 hours in advance. Now, the actual experience is something to marvel at! It is beautiful and thoughtful. At first, I thought it was just a projection that was casted upon the wall to fall upon the architecture spontaneously but after watching for some time, it was evident that the moving art was measured meticulously to match the architecture of the building! That in and of itself is a wonderful feat. Truly, I think this was a sensory experience - the combination of visual and auditory stimuli also drove an emotional experience too. The way the music rises and swells with the pictures, in the same pace made it feel so immersive. There are 2 movies of the experience - the main one is Gustav Kilmet's ornate geometric art and the other that is a shorter moving art film done by dancers. With respect to the space, not much place to sit - but many people are happy to sit on the floor. Quick tip, do NOT use the bathroom by the entrance where there are some informational panels about Gustav Kilmet lol, it's a single bathroom i.e. long line and not well maintained. If you pass through the main section (where the largest projection is cast) and find the bathroom there, it is clean and toilettes plentiful. There is also a downstairs with a smaller installation unrelated to the film. You can stay for as long as you want and check out different sections to have a varied experience. I think I spent 2-3 hours here and enjoyed my time! Will add that I have not been to any other immersive experiences and this was my first :) read more

Love, love, loved it!! My first LED art show was a hit. You enter the Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank and are first awed by the architecture. Free lockers are available for bulky items. Once you walk into the main room, the lights captivate you. Every inch of the walls, columns and floors, including you, are bathed in color. It's mesmerizing! A brief timeline is posted as you enter but it was dark, so I decided to come back during a brighter moment. I headed straight to the main room and found a seat up front. Too close. Hurt my neck to look up. I moved to the back by the stairs just as a massive LED boat was making its way through the room. That was a great viewing spot. I watched 30 minutes here then wandered upstairs. This was an even better view. Took some lovely pics, then headed downstairs. Best not to go down the central stairs to the basement. You enter a bright white back stairway and it breaks the trance. Cross the room to the far side and use the dark stairs instead. The basement is where the good stuff is at. The old bank vault has a separate LED exhibit of floating metals. Super cool! Then keep walking towards the main screen and you find lots of squishy rectangles to lounge on. It's cold, dark, quiet and so peaceful. I watched the Klimt art here and was utterly captivated. Enveloped. Painted in the lights. Lost track of time and space in such a freeing way. If you manage to get up, walk around to the right, and there's an elevated level with a different view. I preferred the simple modern basement to the banks regal upper level, but both were stunningly curated for maximum viewing pleasure. The same light show is run in both areas. I had gotten discount flex tickets for Valentine's Day so there was no specific entry or exit hour. Just plenty of time to chill. When you're ready to leave, there is of course a gift shop. Not badly priced for NYC either. I had a beautiful time and if you're a fan, go. It was worth it! Tip: there is a bathroom upstairs but there's a nicer multi-stall one down in the basement. read more

Hall des Lumieres was amazing. It's an hour long show with music, and art. You can sit on the floor or in their little stools and benches around. I brought my wife for our anniversary and it was her favorite experience we've done so far. We also purchased post cards and keychains in the gift shop afterwards. Visited the Destination Cosmos exhibit on a Saturday and it was very pleasant! Not too crowded and actually really peaceful. The exhibit itself showcased a history of NASA's recent developments as well as basic facts about our solar system. I would say the graphics aren't as impressive as some of the other themes seem to be, but it's still a nice experience overall. Literally bought the ticket in the morning and went to this place in the afternoon. The staff are friendly. There is a locker for your bags and jacket which is really nice so I don't have to worry about carrying my heavy coat around the exhibition. This projection mapping has both art and music so in a way, I felt like I was also in a concert. There was one exhibition where they have piano music. I enjoyed my afternoon here! This is an incredibly well done interactive art show- an adventure for all your senses. Go, go with ur kids, ur friends, ur family, take ur relatives and visitors to the city. It's a much more pleasurable experience than any tourist attraction, tickets r timed, there's no line and you can stay as long as u like. Bring water, bring a snack, take an afternoon or an evening to open all your senses and immerse yourself in art, music, architecture, dance, digital design. It's more than worth it, it will distract you, inspire you and leave you transformed. The show itself is a work of art set in a building that is a designated nyc landmark and it's architecture is just phenomenal. You want to experience the glitz and glamor and full scale of early 20 th century American design, one of the first nyc skyscrapers built in the Beaux-Arts style - very decorative, over the top, incredibly detailed. Sadly underwhelmed by the Chagall exhibit. A few thoughts: 1. More seating in main area, including the bean bags you have downstairs. 2. Change screens at the beginning. There was so much information to read and they rotated before I was ready. Not a great UX. 3. Title pieces. I'd love to know the names and dates of the art shown. 4. Downstairs felt exactly the same as the upstairs - would be nice to have that be a different experience. 5. Better projectors. The Gustav Klimt: Gold in Motion exhibit was beautiful ... yet disappointing. The positive: the beautiful projections of Gustav Klimt's work against the gorgeous architectural background were breathtaking. Likely my expectations are high since we've gone to so many immersive and interactive experiences; unlike the first time when we were blown away by impressive projections alone. The disappointments: - Other immersive artist experiences we've been to offer more: The Van Gogh exhibit had a room with detailed signage outlining his life, works and inspiration for various artwork etc. Another immersive artist experience we attended had a VR component following the immersive projection room. - There was no signage or descriptions, no information about the artist/s, pieces or inspiration like the Van Gogh and other museums and exhibits. In hindsight I would have read more about Gustav Klimt before going had I known. - The content seemed confusing and disjointed without signage or descriptions of content. The video started showing an (amazing, beautifully filmed) projection of dancers, including ballet, then more modern street dance. I initially thought dance would tie in to Kustav or his inspiration. But no. We still have no idea the relevance of the dancers. I asked a couple employees, but they did not know. - Following impressive projections of Klimt's work, there was another segment featuring projected artwork with completely different styles than Gustav's. I was confused again, and It wasn't until we entered the gift shop and I browsed thru a book for purchase I realized there was a second artist Hundertwasser featured as part of the exhibit. Again, some signage or a downloadable app could have highlighted this information. Hopefully future immersive experiences here will provide more information via signage or an app. I recommend, but also recommend researching the artists and their works beforehand if you prefer to have context. read more

The basement section had a bank vault where you get to see the mechanics of the vault door and inside was a mirrored room. This Museum has been on my radar now for about six months and I was only planning on stopping in for a quick glance and ended up spending my entire afternoon in the venue. You truly get immersed in the experience and was blown away by the amount of detail that went into each exhibit. 10/10 would recommend read more

Please be aware, I am a long-time New Yorker. It takes a lot to impress me, and this missed the mark *wildly*. I'm usually very kind and careful in my reviews if I know that I might affect a small business or impact someone who is really trying their best. Because this thing is a tourist machine, I feel okay posting my uncensored thoughts. FIRST, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: There is at least one fire exit that is chained off. This is against fire code, and nobody should die in a fire, especially not while surrounded by grainy and pixelated projections. Please address this immediately. If you need to station a person at that stairwell, you need to eat the cost. I do not want to trip on chains when running from a fire or active shooter, thank you. Okay, so on to the show itself: my friend and I entered a bit earlier than our scheduled time, and saw some dancers projected around the main room. We were a little confused, but I had read some things online before attending, and I knew there would be some non-Klimt content, so I wasn't too concerned. When the show itself started, we found a place to plop down on the floor (there's very minimal seating - every one of these "immersive" experiences expects that the audience will wander around during the show, and it never happens - please learn and adapt). There were some Klimt montages, some Schiele montages, nothing very exciting. The architecture was largely ignored. The audio quality was...okay, I guess? The music was fairly dull. The group in front of us was scrolling their social media most of the time (not posting content), which is telling. The main projection screen had three VERY unfortunate shadows on it, the largest one being center and very wide and tall, probably from other projectors shooting through columns. That same screen was a far worse projection surface than the walls to the sides, which seemed to have higher resolution. The columns that were near us, and the floor, had very grainy and pixelated video compared to the rest of the installation. At times, the right side of the main screen got blurry as well. It seems maybe the rear projectors were hanging on a batten and became unfocused from time to time? Not sure. It was a disappointment. There are supposedly 130 projectors in this, and they must all be SUPER low quality, because a lot of the video looked R O U G H. This installation missed the opportunity to light the ceiling, which looked like a very impressive architectural detail. In fact, it seems there was no lighting at all - only video. Some programmed lighting could have really helped this. Maybe also some atmospherics. Toward the end of our experience, there were several unrelated videos that played, that were...we just didn't know why they were included. It was odd. And then when the sequence started up again, we heard the announcement that there was MORE in the basement. So we went to the basement... In the basement, there's a VERY odd, unrelated video in a mirrored room. The video appears to be of some kind of sci-fi spaceship looking item, morphing and falling apart...I can't describe it very well. You can unfortunately hear the audio from upstairs very clearly while watching this. There is also a very sad "Selfie Room" which has a very flat Klimt painting reproduced on the walls. They missed an opportunity to do something with movement, sparkle, emotion...anything, for this social media moment. Anyway, after we left the basement (or tried to), we were met with many exits that weren't really exits. We were trying to leave for a good 10 minutes before we actually found the real way out - and we go to a lot of events, we're not inexperienced in finding our way out of a venue. This is highly problematic and needs to be addressed ASAP. In closing, if you've never been to one of these immersive things before, maybe you'll be wowed and totally love it. If you've seen one or two already, save your money, this was sad and I hope they will improve it. read more

There were two big areas where you could sit or stand and watch the projected/moving Klimt (and other artists') artwork on the walls. Maybe I'm just a jaded New Yorker, but considering the price, it wasn't worth it. They seemed to put a lot more effort into the gift shop than anything. I kind of wished there had been an explanation of the layout too. They just scan you ticket and you enter. Slowly I figured out that there was also a basement room with projections. Employees were friendly and helpful. And the place wasn't crazy crowded (though it was a weekday). Bathrooms were nice and clean. Won't be back. read more

A wonderful experience to take my friends visiting from out of town. The whole experience is an hour and $41 after tax but definitely worth it. They have an upstairs and downstairs we are fully submerge in the paintings, and even have cute little beanbags to sit down throughout the gallery to take it in. Definitely recommend for a calm night out on the town or even a date. read more

Really enjoyed Destination Cosmos! Stunning immersion, especially when you see the sun and all the different galaxies. I recommend that you check out the bottom floor too, where the immersion is even more impressive due to the wall projections in alignment with the smaller room. I've been to Artechouse as well, but Destination Cosmos blows that out of the water. read more

I visited the Gustav Klimt Gold in Motion exhibit which was produced and designed really well. There were actually different parts to the show with additional art and a 5-piece movement presentation which I really enjoyed. I brought my nieces, and we all sat on the floor and let the art and music wash over us. It's only an hour exhibit, and I enjoyed letting the music and visuals wash over me. read more

The exhibit itself was enjoyable if you like Klimt (we do) and you have generally enjoyed these immersive programs previously, like the Van Gogh exhibit (we did). However, I've been to better-run donkey shows, which mostly destroyed the experience. First. there is ZERO point in buying a ticket in advance, and in fact, it hurts you to do so. We did. If you get there a bit early, you will see a prominent sign on the side of the building saying that the exhibit is running continuously and you don't need a ticket for any particular start time to enjoy the exhibit. This is the exact opposite of what the website and Ticketmaster say. If you then try to go inside, the guards will look at your ticket and tell you no, you now have to wait until the time on the ticket you have bought. Meanwhile totally random people wandering in off the street can proceed inside because there is in fact no start or end time and here's a tip, they will not make you leave after an hour, so all these people will just be in there ahead of you while you're standing outside in the cold waiting for your start time like a fool. Once it's your start time, all the other people who bought ahead of time like you and are standing in line with you will proceed in with you and will have to, like you, figure out how to use the automated ticket reader along with you completely on your own because the staff cannot be bothered to help you. They will be awol. And the ticket reader operates the gate and if the ticket reader doesn't work little alarms go off or the gate doesn't work and it takes longer and there's just nobody there. That's fun for everyone. Then you get inside. There is no information about how the exhibit works or what you're supposed to do or where anything is. But what there will be are several separate sets of screaming young children running around the exhibit unsupervised, providing dramatic counterpart to the low melodic music, parents nowhere to be found. Also nowhere to be seen are any staff. One staff member emerged apathetically about thirty minutes after we arrived and stood impassively inside the door near the way out. Not once did he do anything to address anything, including the fact that by then one of the screaming children was making it plain to the whole room that she couldn't find her parent. Anyway, if you like looking at pretty pictures on the wall while listening to some screaming and opera at a rate of $42/hour, this is the afternoon for you. read more
