There have been repeated concerns regarding bullying, including obvious signs that have been reported by parents multiple times, yet there has been little to no meaningful action or communication about what is being done to address it. Parents should not have to repeatedly advocate for their children's safety or physically go into the school just to get a response. The Assistant Director has been particularly difficult to communicate with. There is very little proactive communication with parents, and it often feels like families are left to chase down answers rather than the administration taking responsibility for keeping parents informed. There are also concerns with the overall culture and professionalism. Some teachers seem more focused on being their students' friends than maintaining the structure, boundaries, and authority that children need from their teachers. Having a positive relationship with students is important, but being liked should never come before being a responsible educator. Another major concern is the quality of the food being served. We have seen or been made aware of food being served to children that was moldy or not completely cooked. This is not something that should ever be considered acceptable in a school setting. Families are expected to pay significant amounts, yet basic standards regarding the food children are being served do not always seem to be met. There are also concerns surrounding lunchroom practices. An aide, Tessa, has been observed rushing children out of the lunchroom before their allotted lunch time is over. The impression given is that this is being done so the lunch staff can be sent home earlier and the school can avoid paying additional hours. If that is in fact the reason, it is extremely concerning. Children should not have their time to eat shortened because of staffing costs or budget decisions. We chose this school because we trusted that our children would be safe, properly supervised, respected, and cared for. Unfortunately, our experience has left us questioning AGAIN whether those priorities are truly being upheld. There are some good people who care about the children, but the ongoing administrative and operational issues are too significant to ignore.

Unfortunately when he started walking that is when he was switched to a bigger kids class. The teachers in there 100% absolutely did not watch my son. Every single day he was hurt. From bites to scratches to even tackled. Usually would get reports for these. Some days I received no report or the teachers had no idea what happened to him. Front desk administrator/receptionist told me it was normal to be called 4-5 times a day to report incidences. That was absolutely mind blowing! Very toxic environment and only a few staff members were inviting and nice. Please if you truly care about your kids DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE!

In my opinion Avondale Academy does not offer competitive pay rates. Teachers are significantly…read moreunderpaid. They save money by offering incentives which sacrifices a portion of pay. Management is only invested in protecting their circle. The circle consists of the founding women and unassertive employees who have been there longer than five years. They lead covertly and have a "no gossip policy" teachers are forced to sign, but don't follow themselves. Decisions on my behalf were made by people who never saw me teach. Losing multiple teachers every year is the norm. They cycle through teachers like nobody's business. They sweet talk the new hires and tell them they're really good, when they're struggling and have limited training. I was only paired with young, inexperienced teachers and encouraged to support/guide them without extra compensation. I was told the exact same worded praise as another teacher with zero experience. Teachers were encouraged to share their teaching skills/strategies without compensation. The young new hires were commonly highlighted in newsletters and social media. They play favorites. Incorrect information and poor management communication are commonplace. Every teacher I worked alongside quit. I saw at least nine teachers quit. By burning out and dumping the new hires they can hire new teachers each year at a lower pay rate, protecting their circle, and saving money. There are reasons this preschool has become a multimillion dollar company so quickly. And they're not good. Avondale is good at making money. They use teachers and crush dreams. They crushed mine.

They recognize that every child learns differently, grows at their own pace, and has unique strengths and needs. This individualized approach has made such a meaningful difference for those families I have worked with as a volunteer. Instead of trying to fit children into a single mold, they gently guide them forward with patience, encouragement, and genuine understanding. You can see the confidence it builds in the kids--they feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are. The Sammy Center is nurturing, intentional, and deeply committed to early childhood development. I can't recommend them enough.

My children are making great progress. previous to going to Timp Academy we went to a private school, which was known for being academically rigorous 1-2 grade levels above.
