Our child was there just a bit over a year and had 13 different teachers. One left during her shift and never came back, many others assured us they would be sticking around but then dropped like flies. The entire school seems to be a revolving door of staff which is never a good sign. Promises kept changing as they upped the number of kids in the rooms but continued to brag about how fantastic their ratios were. Sure they added teachers to the rooms but then teachers kept quitting and were complaining about not having proper breaks and staffing. There were ongoing requests to donate money and supplies to the classrooms - maybe it would have made sense to just increase the tuition by 10 or 20 bucks a month- I'm happy not to have to deal with this at our new daycare. Our journey ended when it became apparent that the children weren't being properly supervised and due to a safety issue we had to make a complaint to childcare licensing. The director then decided to send out updates about our complaint in emails and in Facebook posts where other staff and parents were allowed to mock the situation. Very unprofessional especially considering that the state department of licensing was in the process of citing them for lack of appropriate supervision. Licensing also helped deal with the issue of the staff not having kids regularly wash their hands (like when they came in from outside to eat meals). I feel for some of the teachers who were good but couldn't stick around. The idea behind this school is great and it would be awesome if well executed and managed.

They were very inconsistent with what they promised versus what was delivered. They claim to be child-led in philosophy, but the decisions made didn't seem to have the children's best interest in mind, rather, what was best for the administration and school seemed to be prioritized. Additionally, they were terrible at dealing with issues that arose with parents. Myself and several other parents I knew at the school were consistently told "well, group care isn't for everyone" or "that's why some people decide to hire a nanny" EVERY SINGLE TIME there was an issue--big or small. This led to fearing we were being told to leave the school. After leaving and seeing how other facilities operate and handle issues with parents, I am very glad we made the decision to leave.

Do not want other parents to have to go through what we went through. Staffing is a revolving door--just read the Glassdoor reviews, the faculty retention here is terrible and it's pretty typical for teachers to just up and quit their jobs mid-year with almost no warning. Support teachers come and go even more frequently. Many parents describe SEED as two schools: a downstairs school for babies (0-2yo), and an upstairs school for preschoolers (3-5yo). The downstairs was historically good; the upstairs is chaos. There's an enormous amount of variation in quality between classrooms--some years your child will have awesome teachers, and other years you will wonder why these people work with children. Neurodiverse children need not apply--the school has no experts on staff, provides its teachers with no guidance or mentorship, and has repeatedly demonstrated a complete disinterest in providing any child with any sort of accomodation whatsoever. Neurodivergence at SEED is treated with separation, isolation, involuntarily reduced attendance hours, until the child either graduates into a classroom with more capable teachers, or the parents withdraw the child. SEED is "committed to diversity" only when they don't have to actually do anything for the child, such as make any sort of accomodation. There is a pervasive can't-do attitude. Lastly, prospective parents should do their online research regarding babies being drugged to sleep with melatonin at SEED up until 2023. While those teachers were of course fired, the school has chosen to hide information about this abuse from parents of children formerly under these teachers' care; and, currently enrolled parents have only been provided cryptic generic information. The school's administration seems entirely focused on staying open and staying afloat, rather than addressing any of the underlying issues (under-supported, under-mentored, under-supervised faculty) that played a contributory role.

My children are in elementary school now, and I continue to see my decision to place my kids at Knowledge House to be an excellent one. My kids started kindergarten academically ahead of their peers, and having already developed the social skills necessary for elementary school. They could work well with others, treat each other and adults with respect, and solve problems peacefully. I see the influence of their education at Knowledge House sneaking out in all sorts of positive ways: they shake hands with people and are confident when sharing their ideas, they include others in their play and notice when someone is left out, they love to explore and learn new things, and they use many different ways to solve problems. To add to all of that, despite the fact that many of their former classmates at Knowledge House attend different elementary schools, the kids still play together at playdates and we still talk with our former Knowledge House families. Mark and Valerie make this preschool a place for children to grow and learn at their own pace, and where children develop a sense of community and self-confidence.

I had high hopes for Pixie Hill Preschool. Their mission statement sounded great: "all children are…read morehonored for their unique gifts and are supported in developing at their own pace. Pixie Hill offers a joyous learning environment that emphasizes social and academic growth through developmentally appropriate play." My daughter, however, was tolerated for exactly 4 hours before it became clear she was not welcome there. She is 3, she is speech delayed and struggles with transitions and new environments, but she is sweet and friendly and communicative. I genuinely didn't think she would present a unique or insurmountably difficult problem for a facility claiming to "bridge the warmth of home and the excitement of the outside world" for 3-5 year olds. The first day was rough, I was called to pick up an hour into the 4 hour session, but, to be fair, it was my first time leaving her like that ever. On our next scheduled day, she made it 3 out of 4 hours and I was called again. I was optimistic about the improvement between day one and two, but Pixie Hill was not. I was told, point blank, that the only reason she's made it 3 hours was because they had randomly had one extra person on staff that specific day but wouldn't going forward (but, like, why?). Before the third day with Pixie Hill even started, I was told my daughter wouldn't be able to continue without a dedicated educational aide which she'd need to qualify for through the school district, because they wouldn't deal with her otherwise. Coincidentally, I have a number of close family and friends who have worked in (local) preschools before-- I ran this situation by each of them and EVERYONE said the same thing, "how are they possibly making such big judgments about a kid in a totally new environment based on such little time?" To clarify: my daughter is not aggressive or physically violent, she isn't destructive or anti-social or seriously handicapped in any way-- she just needs extra time to become comfortable in a new place and around new people. Yes, she is stubborn and requires extra coaxing to participate in certain activities, but again, nothing I believe to be unusual or inappropriate in a 3 year old. They were nice about it and gave me information for other facilities and resources. Then when I swung by to pick up her spare clothes, they handed me a letter which detailed the reasons why she was no longer able to continue with them, listed here: she didn't transition well with the class, didn't want to eat lunch with the group, and didn't wash her hands on request. The speed with which this facility shrugged their shoulders, assigned a label, and decided she wasn't worth their time is what upsets me the most. There was no effort whatsoever made to try to accommodate or to try to help her adjust, they just went straight to "gtfo". Their mission statement is obviously "feel good" babble they are not prepared to back up at all. All this being said, the facility is nice and conveniently located, super reasonably priced-- only problem is that if your kid isn't a pre-groomed, completely compliant and obedient TODDLER, you're S.o.L. cause they will tell you very quickly that they don't have the bandwidth for any kind of accomodations (that you haven't provided for them). I understand that this preschool has recently undergone a leadership change and a large structural change recently. I didn't realize that the stellar reviews on here are now all 5+ years old, so I figured I should post an honest update!

However, from the beginning Alexandra was patient and was willing to address any concerns I had about my previous experience. My oldest daughter had a speech delay which made her behavior - challenging. This didn't intimidate Alexandra though, who immediately began looking into ways she could continue to support my daughter while in her care. When that same daughter left for kindergarten, she was ahead of her peers academically - being able to write her entire alphabet and knowing all the letters and sounds they made. My youngest daughter is still in her care and, when I gave Alexandra feedback about some ways she could better support kids who were going into kindergarten, she listened to the feedback and made thoughtful changes to the curriculum that that future children will be even better prepared. However, she doesn't just take feedback from me. I know that other parents are able to express any concerns they have and Alexandra listens and implements any changes as necessary. She loves the kids in her care and always has their best interests in mind. I must note, while Alexandra is absolutely amazing - she cannot do it alone. But that's not a cause for concern! When she recently expanded her daycare, she was very thoughtful about the staff she brought in. Eunice, Amanda and Davika, her assistants, are also phenomenal. In fact, thanks to them, I think her expansion went off without a hitch and she successfully expanded her center! If you're looking for a daycare, I know a spot will open up when my youngest goes off to kindergarten this fall - I'd get on her wait list now. You won't be disappointed!

Little Farm Preschool is a magical place. We've been with Little Farm Preschool going on 3 years…read moreand plan on staying with them with my youngest CURRENTLY in the program for another two years. Our family started with the original owners in 2023 & they sold it to a wonderful family that genuinely cares for their staff, our children and families. Yes, the original owners sold it abruptly & that transition was difficult but it was not at the expense of the new owners. The original owners Mrs. Margo & Chrissy did not disclose this to the parents currently enrolled until Feb 2025, when the business was already put up for sale in late 2024. So as parents and even their own staff we were surprised, which was not the new owners fault. They came in very transparent and welcoming and that has not changed since taking over Little Farm Preschoool. However, the new owners made major improvements that created so much physical classroom space, indoor play area and reading nook that has an up to date fire & safety features (which wasn't there before). The new teachers Ms. Gwen & Ms Kolby are AMAZING! The owners and teachers have degrees in Early Child Education and Development with years of experience working with children. Every morning they welcome our little ones with their smiles and warmth the children look forward to their day. The teachers are so nurturing, patient and supportive with separation anxiety or behavioral challenges, which they always communicate with parents through the parent app as a heads up so we can talk about it in person if needed. They truly are so hard working to create such a creative and fun hands-on activities for learning and safe environment for our children. One thing that the new teachers/owners incorporated, which was not done with previous owners was an academic assessment. No pressure on the kid, but teachers are observing & use a simple guideline to measure the children's academic improvement from beginning of the school year and we checked in during the quarter of the year during parent teacher conferences and measure the improvements your child is making. The goal is to make sure the children are ready to enter Elementary school by building the child's confidence knowing their ABC's, recognition of letters, shapes, numbers, etc. through a curriculum that is fun and very effective as the children learn through arts, crafts, music, story time, outdoor play and using their creative minds. In the outdoor space there are goats & chickens and inside the classroom have fish and plants they are responsible in taking turns feeding. Every holiday and birthday is celebrated with so much enthusiasm and excitement. At pick up time you can see the smiles on our children's faces as they show us their projects for the day, tell us about all the fun they had and say good-bye to their friends each day. I can go on and on and rave about Little Farm Preschool and what a wonderful and magical place it is for my children. The new owner Sonam has improved this preschool in so many ways and we look forward to continuing to work with her and their staff in the future.

They also took the animals with them, defeating the "farm" aspect of the school. They sold the school around February, 2025. So any reviews posted prior to this date should probably be disregarded. Margo and Chrissy do not own the school anymore and have nothing to do with it. After a couple of months under the new ownership, reportedly due to the behavior of the new owners and safety concerns about the new owners, all three of the existing teachers (that our children knew and loved) quit with 5 weeks left in the school year. This is obviously a huge disruption and quite upsetting to the children. The new owners very quickly hired two new "teachers" and had them starting within a week of the previous teachers quitting. I cannot imagine there was enough time for an adequate background check or vetting of these two new employees. The owners were desperate to hire anyone just to keep the school open. The owners are also extremely defensive about the whole situation and refuse to accept any blame or issue any sort of apology or reassurance that the safety concerns in question would be addressed and fixed. The whole environment and vibe of the school is now just negative and toxic so we pulled our child from the school. The owners are also refusing to issue a tuition refund for the last month of school.

We…read morehad previously been at a very high quality preschool in another part of Seattle, but we were moving so I needed a new spot. I was immediately impressed with the natural lighting, reggio inspired philosophy and loved that my child would have access to learning a second language without full blown immersion. What we ended up loving even more was the in-house cook, the food is very healthy and taught my daughter to expand her tastes. The teachers were just as warm and attentive on the last day of school as the first. Very high quality facility. In fact, my daughter is now in second grade and my son is attending SWEL for preschool, camp and Pre-K this year and next!
