If i had not utilized them again i would have given them 5 stars. However, our 2023 experience was absolutely horrific. We started working with Sara Norris in January/February of 2023 to find a summer nanny- ample time for a nanny to start the end of May or June. I followed up at the end of February and march and they still had no placement for me. I ended up being able to get my girls in some half day camps in hopes we would hear back. The end of APRIL was when we heard back and started the process. We only had 2 candidates and went with the one who had the most experience and credentials of the two. Sadly this placement did not work out. Here is my caution to you- DO NOT USE them for summer placements- you will not get your money back and you will not get a replacement on the timeline you need. My major frustration was how this was handled and the fact that they kept the FULL "finders fee" when our nanny quit after 2 weeks- to me this is just wrong and greedy. They are also based in New Mexico and they do not have a good book of candidates other than utilizing care.com it seems. If you are in Texas - i would stick with Nannie's on the go and moms best friend- i should have listened to friends and utilized them initially.

My child still teaches me yoga she taught him, or talks about how he used to read the Dragon Wings series with her in 3rd grade, her taking a page, him the next. I still read with him at home in this way, now Harry Potter. He speaks fondly of her and misses her and I am grateful for any time we had with her before she stopped teaching. She was pure love. He had kind, caring kids here who reached out to one another and who really were invested in one another. He enjoyed playing chess or gnomes or wolves with the kids and the kids were still kids! Playing! It was a mixed age classroom of 1st-5th grade and he was in 3rd grade and had friends in each grade. He would sometimes ask to stay after school to be with friends and draw gnomes or Pac Man together, or to play dragons or wolves. This school emphasized play and I love that they let the kids sled and have snow ball fights. We loved their Dia De Los Muertos celebration and the rooms where they did project-based learning, art, reading and math was so cozy. We really loved the art my son came home with and are still friends with a family we are very glad to still be connected to. This is education as I always dreamed it to be. And the administration did not shy away from addressing what needed to be addressed with kindness, compassion and integrity, a lot of honesty here despite life's struggles, which are always there. We are grateful we had this. My son learned a lot of his firsts here, around reading, math, social groups. We are glad for the lasting impact and as another parent said, "well, you have to pay something to expect value." yes, valuable indeed, what we received. (It is never about a model of education, but about the individuals and character we find in any given place. While we got on board with the model Little Earth espouses, it was more about finding the right people in the right place, that impressed us so deeply. It was the families, kids, and educators, staff and administrators, too, who held so much heart, no matter what their education pedagogy was.)

Or if I needed to come home. Since I was not able to jump on a plane and come home easily, it was a comfort to know when it was necessary to do so and when it wasn't. Having Egis on our side was like having reliable family members to be there with my Mother, when I couldn't. I truly felt she was getting the best professional home care possible from truly caring humans and not just another institution. One star is far too many for this self-proclaimed "self-defense" school. I had asked for in-person…read moreclasses, but was instead steered towards an online version, wherein I was assured that I would learn valuable vocal tools that would help me defend myself. Alas, after a lengthy introduction, wherein we were all prompted - no less than four times - to state "our pronouns" out loud and repeatedly, we were taught what to say to friends who hug us without our consent. There was nothing about real self-defense, just made-up "microaggressions" for those with no spine or sense of self. Let the record show that when I chose to not specify "my pronouns" (on a Zoom call wherein no one was being referred to in the third person), I was not only called out on the call, but messaged in the private chat by the instructor who was concerned that I wasn't jumping on the pronoun bandwagon. I'm guessing they got grant money during the shut-down, and were thus strongarmed into this kind of indoctrination, but it was offensively misleading to call this a self-defense class, when it would be more accurately described as a reeducation camp.
