If you don't have a reservation, would advise you to get here before opening as the line gets quite long. We ate here on a weekday and it was packed! The food was great. Our table liked all the pastas, especially the carbonara. We also tried some local specialities such as the pork cheek at our servers suggestion and really enjoyed that as well. My family and I had two amazing dinners at Ristorante Roma. The food presentation, meals, and service were exceptional. The resturant ambiance was classy yet relaxing. The service was friendly and helpful. The pasta dishes we had were incredible, probably family recipes pass down through the generations. The standouts for me were the carbonara, seafood linguini, ravioli, and bacon wrapped monk fish. In Los Angeles you would pay twice the price for a meal this good! read more

Coming from nyc we have had our fair share of great pasta. I think it's actually really hard to top a restaurant like Marea even if you are actually in Italy. That said, the spaghetti with clams here is possibly the best I've ever had anywhere. The flavor profile is very complex. It's a party in your mouth. Stuffed mussels were very good as well. A salmon carpaccio still had bones and was actually cooked to almost a medium which apparently was intended. That wasn't so great. Great service and hostess spoke good English. They are also open all day unlike most restaurants in the area which are closed in the late afternoon and early evening. That means if you have to make a cruise boat boarding but want to sneak a local dinner in this is one of the few places to do it. read more

We had the fixed price dinner menu, and it was phenomenal for the price. First came out complementary oyster as a welcome appetizer.The first bite of pork gravy and cranberry was incredible! The pasta and meat courses were on the small side, but dense in flavour. The steak was a bit small, and maybe too well cooked, put the sauce that was on it was phenomenal. Excellent dinner this evening for our anniversary. Easy location across from our hotel and wonderful outdoor atmosphere. They surprised us with stuffed oysters, which were quite tasty! I thought it was worth paying 5 extra euros to order off their hot breakfast buffet menu which goes beyond their continental breakfast menu (e.g. cereal, pastries, and toast). Very comfortable family run restaurant and wine shop. Good location in LaSpezia close to train station and two large hotels. Restaurant was not busy when we arrived. Service was good and we ordered two specials of the evening which were good. Only negative for us was when we finished dinner and restaurant by then had gotten busy. Once we set foot in the restaurant we met extremely polite and kind waiter who proficiently recommended us to try some local seafood dishes. I have to admit that menu contained seafood only dishes. We ordered salmond steak. It was so delicious, so soft and juicy we enjoyed every piece of it. The waiter suggested trying local mixed vine and it had rich, deep flavour. Really good food : not cheap, but the quality follows the price. I put only 3/3.5 stars because the end of our night was disappointing - the waiter did not let us split the bill (72 euros) and proceeded to explain to us that it was our fault because we should have warned them we wanted to split before asking for the check ... I thought this was very unprofessional from her part, especially since we were kind and respectful when we ask to split. Otherwise, the food was good and the outdoor is lovely (but they could change the green neon for something a bit warmer). read more

Extremely good food, very fresh and tasty. They offered a free appetizer (cooked oyster) and free liquor (cherry and almond). We asked for a basket of bread that came as a mix of different kinds, really good. They took 4€ each for utensils etc (typical in Italy). We ordered the local grilled dorado, so good! And took an apricot tart + cheesecake for desert. All their deserts are homemade, the cheesecake is highly recommended, it was delicious. Amazing staff, spoke English and French fluently. Very pretty decor too including a silent fan and an aromatic garden. They have at least 2 different wines from Cinque Terre that we ordered by the glass. It wasn't crowded either, and our neighbors were very friendly. Overall I honestly don't have any critic to write other than maybe change the green neon outside that isn't so nice. Also come with bugs spray for dinner as there is a little fountain in the garden. read more

Right next to the train station. What a gem. The owner helped us with our luggage and we got seated in their patio - it was romantic. The food was amazing and well priced. We told the chef the food was very good and she was so thankful. These kinds of restaurants are rare where the owner and chef take pride in their service and quality. This has to be the best deal in the area; we had two shared courses, wine, soda, water, and bread for 35€ and everything was great :-) the only recommendation I have is that this charming restaurant add a more obvious sign, since it can be easy to miss this gem if you're not looking for it. They made the ravioli fresh for our order, the steak was unique and tasty, and the family of owners/operators were very sweet while I struggled through a combination of English, French, and Italian to order.
