The accountant revealed he hadn't reviewed any of the documents I had sent. ​I was stunned. The entire point of sending two years of tax returns and paying a high up-front fee was for him to be prepared to address my specific financial situation. When I pressed for the specific calculations I needed, he quoted an additional cost of nearly $300 per hour just to review the questions and returns--work that I had already paid for him to do in the first place. ​The "consultation" ended after 30 minutes, feeling like a complete waste of time. I left feeling utterly scammed out of the $275 consultation fee since no preparatory work was done and I received zero specific, actionable financial advice. ​While I appreciate they got me in the same day, I would have much rather waited for an appointment with an accountant who actually took the time to review the materials provided.
