I was forced to change pharmacy due to a closure. So I was transferred to the store on 17 th street in Costa Mesa. What a complete nightmare it has been on just about every visit. Called for a refill that should have been on auto refill. They said I'd be notified when it was ready.. No notification for over a week. Finally I called and found that nothing had been done. The assistant had been looking at the wrong medication name when checking... Another time I went to buy a gift card for a birthday with my debit card and they said it required cash!! Another time they said all my pain meds were filled. But they hadn't. Had to go back to get the order completed. Sometimes it just makes you wonder how these people get hired? I will be changing pharmacies... Might want to get the auto refill feature working correctly. And make sure your workers can speak clear English. Seems like James is a problem for this store after reading the reviews; but I could have told you that from my own experience, an added bonus, Jennifer is no prize herself, she was insensitive and careless in our interaction -- but James is incredibly rude and condescending like others have said; I was and am not a fan of him telling me to call 5 days before the prescription runs out to make sure they have it in stock by the time it's ready... I'm not a pharmacist and if they can't handle simple patient care and understand that I'll need the medication whether they have it on hand or not then I will yet again have to find another pharmacy. I have ZERO ideas how the Rite Aid corporation can let a rude, condescending man like this work for them. Ive worked in customer service my entire life and would have been fired if I spoke to anyone the way this man talked to us. My husband and I called to get an update on my husbands prescription. We were polite and pleasant. This man was beyond rude to us. He was overtalking, and condescending. He literally spoke down to us like we were stupid. I was so appalled that after the call, realized I was shaking. I was so upset. I called back to get the mans name and store number to file a formal complaint with Rite Aid. This man is probably good at part of his job. Counting pills and knowing drug interactions, among whatever else is involved with the pharmacy business. But he is NOT good with people and shouldnt be working with customers. At all. Ever. Rite Aid #05733,,you should seriously look at who you have working for you. And look at your reviews and complaints overall regarding this man named James Nguyen who you have running your pharmacy. Because I know Im not the only one complaining about him. We LOVE this Rite-Aid!! We have been customers here for years! They fill my medications, my sons, even our dogs meds! My son who has multiple complex medical needs and is on over 20 medications, and gets quite a few of them here at Rite-Aid. They deliver most of the meds to our home which is a huge help and time saver for me. The staff here is my favorite! They know us by name, and the head pharmacist James is always asking how my son is doing, and when my son is prescribed a new medication, he is always concerned about his kidneys! (Most medications metabolize thru the kidneys). Every now and then there are issues, mainly with insurance, and/or doctors offices. But Rite-Aid never lets my son go without his seizure medications even if there is a hang up with insurance or whatever. It is a lot of prescriptions, and they are good at keeping up with them all. I also love the front desk pharmacy techs! They are fast, efficient, and friendly. We love our local Rite-Aid! read more

Worst pharmacy services around, they are so slow they do not care about customer service!!

So I went into this rite aid after i have not frequented it in a while , i used to come here regularly when i still worked in the center. they now sell alcohol shooters next to the checkout and i have literally never had this happen before. i grabbed four little bottles to enjoy my night off and as this lady is ringing me up she stops, looks at me super judgy and asks if i'm OKAY. i'm sorry, what? i thought you were a cashier at rite aid and not a pharmacist- who, by the way, is still not legally allowed to ask why you are purchasing whatever you are purchasing. i was highly offended by this initial interaction and then it gets even better, she asks for my ID (flattered, i'm in my late 30s) and honestly gives a strong vibe she does not want to sell me these products. i've been a regular and have experienced great customer service for the last 7 years but this was too much and i would rather take my money literally anywhere else, how mortifying was that interaction?! so, if you don't want to be judged when you shop here, go literally anywhere else. read more

If you or your physician calls in a prescription they never start working on it until you show up, no matter how many days in advance you call. That's if they have it in stock, which they frequently don't. My mother was discharged from the hospital yesterday after the doctor called in a prescription that she had to have this morning. They didn't have it last night, but promised it for this morning. Now they say they "might" have it this afternoon. Also, of the four times I've called them this morning they've only answered the phone once, and they put me on eternal hold. read more

I've never been to a drug store that is as welcoming as this one. I have been to this rite aid before but something has changed. The store seems to be a lot cleaner and a lot more organized then before. When you walk in the staff members are always greeting you and are always welcoming there help. So you make the drive, wait in a long line, and then have to turn around and leave. I came to get my children tested for Covid prior to travel. I thought they took walk ins, but they do not. That was fine, but Jenny in the pharmacy was so incredibly rude about it. She responded to my questions with a condescending attitude. She told me to fill out something online, which I set at did. When done, I went back to the window, after a wait, she asked me what I wanted. I told her it was my appointment time, and only then did she inform me that it's all done through the drive thru. This is for the pharmacy. I don't know what the deal is with the staff here, but they are really unfriendly, unhelpful and slow as slow gets. They either need additional people working there to alleviate the stress or have an internal review. I work in a medical office, and they are just as rude in B2B as they are to patients. I went to have a key made in the key machine and the machine consumed my key. I had to wait for a day to get someone to retrieve the key. Gaby called and let me know they recovered my key. She was not there an hour later when I went in to pick it up and the woman behind the counter said "Sorry, I don't know anything about a key. Maybe you can come back in an hour when the manager is there." I came back in an hour and the manager said the same thing that he doesn't know anything about a key. He opened the safe and said there was no key in there. I told him Gaby called and said it was here. He told me to come back when Gaby is there in the morning. I told him I need my car key now please call Gaby. Someone finally called Gaby after I waited 30 min and the manager opened the safe again and my key was right on top. read more

Super frustrating at this point in the pandemic (Dec. 23, 2020) to see store employees ringing up goods with their masks dropped below their noses. I walked into this Rite Aid to buy a Christmas card but left after watching cash register attendants talking face to face with customers without caring that their masks were well beneath their nose. The worst was a female employee wearing a dark hooded jacket with fake fur trim. Her mask was barely over her mouth as she spoke to the customers. She obviously doesn't give a crap about anyone. Once upon a time this chain was called Thrifty until it was devoured by an east coast concern called Rite Aid which promptly drove itself and its stock price into the ground where it rots to this day. And then their CEO (and founder's son) was led off in handcuffs. Trust me. Google it. I usually don't go here, but it was close to the doc who treated my biannual stomach flu-bronchial thing-sore throat/double-wide ear infection that lasts from the last boat parade party to the chilly depths of February with a simple penicillin Rx. I filled it here (as I did awhile back) so I knew I was on the "system". Not only did the pharmacist-tech (No pharmacists in pharmacies these days it seems, gotta pay the CEO's legal bills) not find my last name on the "system", she misspelled my last name, AND the doctor's name, too. Haha. And to top it off, since she told me that since the computer said I was a new customer, she gave me a Rite Aid coffee mug with a tube of lotion on the inside. Idiots. read more

The 17th st Costa Mesa Rite-Aid is the best pharmacy that I have ever worked with. Tammy is the pharmicist that I like to work with. She is very accomidating and she treats me with respect. She does everything she can to get you your meds. But they are all good in there. Good pahramcies, or ones that do not treat you as a drug attic are hard to find. They are very good and do not make one jump thru hoops to get your medication. They just offer the best Customer Service of any pharmacy that I have recently worked with. Always go in here for their ice cream and let me tell you. It is phenomenal. I love the strawberry cheesecake! Always friendly and eager to help. I went in there around 1:30am looking for a coloring book and ice cream. I was devastated to find out that the ice cream was closed but a wonderful woman, I believe named Sheila, went above and beyond offering to open the ice cream back up for me. We got to talking and she states that the tubs of thrifty's ice cream were on sale. She even recommended and let me try some flavors. Literally, every time I go here, the ladies should really know me by now....BUT! They never know when I'm supposed to pick up my meds and most times I need to tell them/correct them saying YES ITS OKAY and NO I DONT NEED ANY OTHER AUTHORIZATION or I can pick it up in this many days. Okay. They never communicate with each other, which results in terrible customer neglect, and service. They seem to not care, smile or recognize your needs. There is an exception though, the male head pharmacist. He is able to pick up on social references and conclude when people have been waiting an eternity to pick up a guaranteed prescription that was allegedly ready (with confirmation text and all) 45mins earlier, and to help that person and tell the other workers to help out others too. I don't get how they hire, operate, stay in business. Patient care is what pharmacy employees are lacking, and true, they aren't in a doctors office but they're dealing with medications, people who NEED meds for one reason or another. Its more often a NEED and not a VANITY so human decency and respect would be a nice change to this pharmacy. Please. and. thank you. read more

I did not have time to drive to my usual place in Los Angeles called D& J photo to have my film developed. I don't know why I thought to come here. Their "one" hour photo that they advertise in the store no longer exists. (They should change their signage since legally it is false advertising and deceptive.) It took them 6 Days to develop my film. I took in 9 rolls and they only gave me 4, meaning they lost 5 which was more than half of what I brought in. The service manager kept arguing me saying I couldn't have dropped off that many rolls, when I showed him the proof (thank goodness I kept it) his response was "dont worry, we won't charge you for the ones you didn't receive". Why should I have to pay for rolls of film you lost in the first place, where is my compensation for the cost of the rolls? $6.99 each (not including taxes) x 5 rolls, how I see it I should have been compensated $35.00 , the fact you even try to charge me for rolls you lost and didn't develop is atrocious let alone you didn't even offer to compensate the rolls you didn't lose as atonement for your mishap. Had they done this I wouldn't have bothered with reporting them to the BBB or made this yelp review. read more
