The pharmacy here is absolute horse sh*t. Go anywhere else, your prescriptions will never get filled and the pharmacists (name dropping: Crystal and Annabelle) will always screw your pharmacy orders. Even if you call in advance, the level of miscommunication is horrendous. If suppose to get 3 medications today and instead I got twice of the same medication, after calling and verbally confirming. Rite aid needs to reprimand their current employees in the pharmacy because the service was awful. If you're handling sensitive information and dealing with medications, you need someone much more professional and courteous. Rite aid, do better. read more

Rude, skinny, male employee with mid-length, middle-parted blonde hair clearly did not wish to be there close to closing tonight (9/18/2024), and--five minutes before closing--ran over to the aisle my girlfriend and I were standing in to loudly yell at us to hurry up and finish shopping. Then, when checking out at the register, he didn't allow us to input my phone number to use the deals and thus, essentially doubled the price of our goods. While checking our goods out, he glared at the two of us, and, when finished, offered none of the typical niceties expected of a cashier such as, "have a nice night," or something to that extent. In short, he made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. He should not be working a service job. The other employee, however, was polite and unlocked the door to let us out of the store. read more

Update: It was a hot day and I was craving ice cream. I was near this Rite Aid so I decided to get it here rather than looking for an ice cream shop. I waited 5 min or more at the ice cream counter, but never got help. I walked around a bit, noting how disgustedly dirty the floor was in almost every aisle. This store is so overly priced. Some items were half again as much as you usually see them for, other things up to two and three times as much. A pack of pens, you can buy the exact ones at the 99¢ store they had for $2.99, for example. Go to Dollar Tree on 8th St near Pole Line before shopping in here. Buy in the campus bookstore. Back to the ice cream. The cones are $1.69 now, not $1.29 like a reviewer said a year ago. Nobody ever did come to help me so I tracked down a clerk who was cheerful about coming over. I requested a sugar cone which broke when she put the ice cream in. This after she went thru three others that were already broken when she picked them up. Then when I was out in the car peeling the paper off the cone, chunks of paper stuck to the cone as I was taking it off. I think I'll try the other Rite Aid, on Cowell, next time to see if I have better luck. read more

When I had gone up to the register to ask why it was taking so long, I was laughed at by another pharmacy employee. Friendly and helpful describes the employees working at this Rite Aid, from a cheery greeting as I entered the store to assistance in finding some products, I was quite impressed. And check out their very clever baskets. I was only going to purchase some small items so didn't need a cart. Instead I picked up a basket. It had a weird black piece of plastic sticking out the side. After dragging that basket by the handles for awhile, I set it down to check something and then noticed that the weird thing on the side was part of the mechanism to pull the basket around. Yep, the basket had wheels on the bottom and lifting the black thing brought the handle waist high. Smartest shopping invention ever. I had so much fun dragging that basket through the store. I purchased more than I had planned to just because it was so easy to add items without tiring my arms. read more

If I could give the pharmacy a lower rating then I would. The store itself is fabulous, good customer service and kind workers. The pharmacy on the other hand contains many workers who are rude, lacking critical interpersonal communication skills. While taking my medication, I realized there were other pills mixed in. These pills had nothing to do with my medication, which is not okay and a very serious problem. When I confronted the pharmacist (politely) she brushed me off, stating "well, I don't know how that could have happened". Ummm well it did so maybe if you had a bit more pep in your step and didn't look miserable behind the counter then you would not have made a mistake like that. Everyone makes mistakes, I was just frustrated with how it was handled. read more

I would expect a pharmacy to be health conscious, but I was disappointed to find that they did not provide hand sanitizer at the pharmacy checkout. When I asked for some to be provided for the customers, I was given one pump then it was returned behind the counter where no customers could see it. When I asked for it to remain up front (I hadn't yet paid and knew I would need it again after i touched the pinpad), I was met with great resistance. Really awful pharmacy. If you call, no one picks up the phone 99% of the time. The 1% someone picks up they say "Hold" and never get back to you - have waited as long as 20 minutes. They're not any better in person, they don't know what they're doing, take forever, and are rude. Last straw. New pharmacist will not refill prescriptions for medications I have been getting there for years without "discussing with my doctor". Seriously?! I am not interested in RiteAid employees second guessing my doctor or me and interfering in my healthcare. I will get my prescriptions filled at a different pharmacy. read more

Pharmacy mostly is ok but often is hard to get ahold of. This time they received a prescription and texted me to inform me they couldn't fill it. I tried calling as it was somewhat of an emergency and no one will answer either at the pharmacy or at the store. I've been trying to call for two hours now. They didn't actually input the prescription into the computer so no other rite aid stores can help me with it. And since it's the weekend I can't get ahold of my drs office. read more

The older lady at the pharmacy is rude and she appears to lack sensitivity when working with individuals who are struggling. You literally handle peoples medicine, their lives. Like, there is a human being behind the prescription. Maybe don't patronize people. She made me feel like a drug addict because I was taking 2x the amount of Zoloft (a medication that i had been taking for two years prior to my new psychiatrist) then originally prescribed, because I was unable to see my NEW psychiatrist for several weeks. Keyword, new. She started me on the lowest dose possible. 25mg. As is generally typical when you have a new psychiatrist. This lady was like was like "you can't do that" "if you haven't been able to see your psychiatrist for several weeks you need a better doctor" like first of all, why would you say that lol? it felt like she was challenging me? girl!!!!!! lady I have medi-cal, my psychiatrist dipped on my appointment last week and the earliest one is two weeks away. I explained to her that I managed to sneak a phone call with my psychiatrist and told her about what was going on, and the amount that I was taking, and she understood and thus refilled my prescription so I wouldn't go empty. I told the lady my psychiatrist was AWARE. Like, is she not familiar/experiences with the world of healthcare? Does she not know these are real realities? Just sucks because I came into get my meds, did not understand/was not properly explained (she literally just spurted "It's too soon" twice) why I could not refill my prescription, and felt demonized when I had to explain to them why I needed more of my anti-depressant to get an actual answer. I was trying to figure out what my options are, and she made me feel like a criminal??? She finally told me it's because my insurance has yet to approve it, because I was taking more than my psychiatrist had prescribed. Ok, I understand. Like, a simple ass answer. And you made it rude because you made it seem like I was trying to get high off these pills! My antidepressants? Like yes girl I am trying to be happy i will be switching pharmacies and not coming back here read more

Overall this Rite-Aid is "Okay." I looked through some of the other reviews, and I do agree that the older woman in the pharmacy has never been easy to get along with. She makes you feel defensive as you pick up your medication. I've often felt a little glad when it hasn't been her who has been there to assist me. That being said, I do think she has improved somewhat during the 5 years that I lived in Davis. Her attitude has adjusted somewhat to be more hospitable, although I do not know if that is a result of me continuing to use this Rite-Aid, not just as a student passing by from one year to the next. The younger staff is often more kind and friendly. There is one younger, asian pharmacist who provides wonderful guidance on using the medication. Shout out to her. My last experience though was this August. I asked for a flu shot (honestly so that I could beat the rush of students who would arrive in September and October). The staff (neither of who are ones I mentioned above) loudly spoke to each other grumbling about how more students like me would be coming in so they need to start getting ready for flu shots season. That kind of bothered me because I was being made to feel like a nuisance to them. Again, maybe because they didn't see me as someone more than a student. I'm not even a student. I felt like I had to defend myself and say that I was coming in specifically to beat the rush of students, and the staff member looked at me differently. That didn't stop her from jabbing the needle into my arm. I'd never experienced the amount of blood which dripped down after a flu shot. I looked down surprised, and to be honest I think she wanted to cover up that this wasn't a normal occurrence because she said "yeah that happens all the time." But I don't think it does. read more

I booked a Covid booster vaccine almost two weeks in advance. I must have received at least 20 reminders via email and message. I showed up ten minutes early and had to wait in the pharmacy pickup line behind 11 people just to check in. There was a single register open. After checking in, a couple of people in front of me got their shots. I waited. And waited. A gentleman came up to me and asked if this was the place for vaccines and I directed him to the long pharmacy line. He checked in after 10-15 minutes. The vaccination person came out and immediately called the guy who had just checked in. I informed her that it was 35 minutes after my appointment and that I had been waiting for45 minutes. She shrugged and said it was his turn. I told her that this was ridiculous and that I wouldn't wait. I will not be returning to Rite Aid for anything, ever. read more

For over ten years, I have been a very satisfied, loyal customer at Rite Aid on Russell Blvd. The pharmacists and techs are professional, pleasant, very responsive and attentive to your needs. They provide full service, including vaccinations and Covid vaccines. Highly recommend for your pharmacy needs! read more

Stopped by for some Thrifty's ice cream. I usually get strawberry cheesecake in a cone and it was waayyyyy too soft. The ice cream was soft like frosting and barely cold. I'm not sure if it was this flavor in particular that doesn't harden or the temperature setting isn't correct, but in my past experiences, this wasn't the case. The man serving ice cream, who I unfortunately didn't get the name of, kindly gave me an extra scoop as the ice cream was too soft for a cone and needed to be placed in a cup. Definitely didn't live up to my nostalgic Rite Aid runs back in the day, but $1.99 for a scoop of ice cream is pretty reasonable to me. read more

Keeping in mind that this Rite Aid is RIGHT ACROSS the university campus and freshmen dorms. I used to come here all the time for semi cheap snacks and food, but the store here overprices everything...and I mean everything... Plus side is that there is a bus stop right outside the store that services North Davis, so it can be a easy way to get home if you live in north davis. There is also an ice cream service inside, but that too is overpriced so I can't give one that much details. It's convenient sometimes for those freshmen who want snacks, but I tend to avoid this place since freshmen year because of the overprice items. read more

I usually use Costco Pharmacy as I greatly dislike supporting CVS and the like due to pharmaceutical business reasons, but due to an acute illness and the need to get medications faster (the same day), I used Rite Aid for the first time. The staff at this store's pharmacy are quite efficient. I was a new pt and did not have a patient profile with them. By the time I called to try to give them my insurance card info, they had already did all the work behind the scenes and told me my prescription was already ready for pickup. The pickup line moved fast too due to again, their efficiency. read more

First two times I had no issues getting my pills from the pharmacy. However, this time was just horrible. I was told there would be a 30 min wait to refill my pill (which isn't really a refill since it comes in a small disposable package every time). I started to lose my patience about 40 mins in and by the time I got to the counter it's been 50 mins total wait time. Not sure if they're understaffed or just slow. I approached the counter and was told the pharmacist stepped out and won't be back for another 15 mins. Why? Unacceptable because he was there for the entire time I was waiting and even when the line died down. The staffs are nice, but this is just inefficient. Edit: Approached the counter again when I saw two customers who barely had to wait get their pills immediately. They saw me and finally got me what I needed. Total time: 75 minutes. read more

Horrible customer service at pharmacy. I booked an appointment for a flu shot. Checked in and sat down. After a half hour wait I asked when the shot might be given. They said they had no idea. When I pushed they said maybe an hour. It's unacceptable to make an appointment with a customer and then not provide the service for 90 minutes. Especially so when you say nothing to them about an expected wait. I get that they're busy but zero respect for my time or keeping me informed is hugely disappointing. Cancelled my appointment. Suggest you seek your flu shot elsewhere. read more

First off, their pharmacy hours online state that they're open Mondays at 7am, but apparently their hours posted on their window say 9am... However, come 9am, and they are still not open and there are over 5 customers waiting in line. This is a huge inconvenience, especially when it comes to medication. No one has even come to check in with us to let us know what's going on or why the pharmacy is still not open 5 minutes past the scheduled time. This location is right by UC Davis as well, so a lot of students including myself are on a time crunch to get to class afterwards... Terrible experience. read more

On top of that, the pharmacy staff are rude and unhelpful (at least the two male staff my wife & I had to deal with were). And there's no way to get out of there without waiting in line. I cannot emphasize how horrible this Rite Aid is. It is right across the street from where I live, so it was the go-to pharmacy when I moved to Davis. My doctors have called in medications for me to this location and I was told they would be ready at a certain time. I have showed up to be told "No you can't have them we have a question for the doctor". Then they proceed to make ME call the doctor. He tells me he Okayed the medication already. This has happened multiple times. This is a medication I need to survive. Like, something catastrophic could happen to me if I don't get it. All pharmacists would know that. And I am needing to fight with them to get it? How is this okay? They never offer alternative suggestions, just try to flat out deny my medications. It is seriously blurring medical ethics, or just outright unethical. When I called the UCD pharmacy on campus to talk about switching over, the manager told me that many students deal with the same issue at this Rite Aid. Also, the pharmacists take extremely long lunch and dinner breaks. I've been told to come pick up only to be denied because the pharmacist was out on a break. At such a busy location, why dont they have multiple pharmacists? I have never encountered such a strange schedule. When I go with friends to buy snacks, the lines are out of control long. Yesterday I waited 20 minutes in line to buy some snacks and beer. When we got to the front of the line they would not sell us the beer because I didnt have my ID on me. Mind you I was not the one buying the beer. I see why this policy is needed, given that they are right across from freshman dorms, although mind you we are not freshmen and well over 21. But the employee was really mean to us about it and just took the beer and rolled her eyes. I guess everyone is guilty until proven innocent. I know this location is convenient, but seriously avoid it all costs. Seriously, do whatever it takes. I can really say that this location has caused me real and serious stress. read more

The worst customer service in town (which is saying a lot.) expect to have your purchases tossed onto the counter and not even bagged for you. All the employees are rude and act like they're serving out a prison sentence rather than getting paid to work there. The selection is small and mostly geared to emergency needs of college students. If you don't fit that description, skip it. The store is pretty clean (compared to other drug stores), but parking spaces are few. The parking lot itself is tiny and hard to get to. In short... So far, Rite Aid's always been there for me. It was there when I was at my best with a disgusting cough+ even more disgusting runny nose, and needed to stock up on Campbell's, Ricola, and Kleenex. It was there on Halloween, when I fought a girl tooth and nail to snag one of the last pairs of fake eyelashes (self-adhesive, too!). It was there when I realized that I had left a shitload of socks at home and needed to buildup a sockpile (get it? stockpile, sockpile! ha! okay lame joke). It was there when I was extremely hungover and needed to purchase a replacement filter for my Brita pitcher so that I could have some water to swallow my Advil. Ah, the morning after. And it was there this morning when I bought granola bars in bulk. I love you, Rite Aid. But I don't love the long checkout lines. Or the fact that I had to buy a three-pack of the replacement filters instead of just one. Oh well, good thing I have dormmates who were willing to buy the other two replacement filters! read more

Not sure what's happening with this pharmacy... First I should explain that I get two drugs beginning with "Le" every month. Text messages only use the first two letters, so I can never discern which drug is ready. Last time, I went for pickup only to be told that one drug was unavailable and I would have to go elsewhere. I contacted Costco and they had no issues with availability. This time, wanting to return to Rite Aid for both drugs, I called to make sure they had it in stock, which they did. They needed a refill from my doc, so I called to make sure it was sent in right away, which it was. Tried to pick it up 26 hours later, but it wasn't ready and they couldn't do it anytime soon because they were "backed up". Moreover, NONE of the four customers ahead of me were able to pick up their drugs. Counting me, five customers in a row left without their prescriptions. Pretty sad. I had new insurance this time, same company, but new account number because I retired. That meant further delays. It's now been another 24 hours and no text messages yet. This is way too much work and too time consuming. I'm moving to another pharmacy after this. Updated Dec 2016: My last three refills have been problem free and expedient. read more

This place has really improved. The remodel looks great and the customer service has picked up. This is my go-to store downtown for makeup, drinks, dollar store type purchases. The pharmacy is prompt and friendly, and open on Sunday. Super secret product that will change your life: I bought a 12 pack of toilet paper here and it has literally lasted 2 months. I love love love the ice-cream here. It's cheap ($1.29) for a huge single scoop of ice-cream. Can't beat that. The flavors are so classic. I highly recommend the rocky road, rainbow sherbet, black cherry, and mint chocolate chip. They're about to replace the root beer float mocha almond fudge. Woot! :) read more
