I can only imagine due to the neighborhood, the expectations are low and owners probably doesn't care much. But I will tell you this every time I've entered this place employees act as if you're bothering them when you have a question, self checkout employees display horrible body language. On July 5 around 8:30 I asked a question to a young lady who was working the are of the adult beverages, not only was she sitting up on the far end of the counter, she was clearly on FaceTime, and when I asked the question she replied nonverbal with her head. To make sure I wasn't crazy I asked again, she did the same thing again as if I was bothering her. So yes although this is a majority black poor neighborhood, ownership, management we count and also have a voice too.

The store is always clean, always people available to help, and almost always start with what I need. I say that as a long time customer but I haven't been to this location in about four years. I would frequent here often when I worked in West Philly but since I moved out of the area. My main purpose was to get the store made sweet potato pies and my mission was accomplished successfully! As you can see in my pictures, I'm headed up to New York and wanted to make sure everyone got the best sweet potato pies I've tasted in a while! The customer service here is exceptional. Just about every register was open and I don't recall seeing any broken down self-service checkouts. While at the bakery, two representatives were talking and clarified for me which was the best tasting sweet potato pie. I wish I had it on video because the lady who helped me clearly stated that my choice was the brat tasting one. Ha ha! TJ's has its own private parking lot makes it easier to shop in this busy section of the town. The store is well kept and clean. It is well stocked with lot of unique items for which Tjs is know for. I liked their bakery section however they ran out of the sourdough bread. The diary section was great too. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They walked with me to help locate some of the items I was looking for. I wish this store is near by. It is definitely a great store to check out if you are closer by or during visit to Ardmore. Prices are typical of any Tjs and good for the quality and variety of the items they carry. The lines had a wait time but not bad. Kudos to the team at this location.

Their deli is great- cheap sandwiches that are made on the spot, in front of your eyes, in a hygienic work area. By the door they have a cooler full of frozen products ranging from Stauffer's dinners to popsicles and ice cream. They also sell lottery tickets. There are other corner stores around, including one just up the block, but Mason's feels like family, and their prices and products can't be beat...

The two guys that work there are there 7 days a week, about 11 hours a day and are way nicer to people than i would ever be in their position! I've been in for cat food or something dumb, and found myself a dollar short, and they're like, "that's okay jess, bring it later." i go in to wash my hands after i had to take the trash out and didn't feel like going back to my apartment. The best story i have is this though: i was walking my boxer friend, Jake, and i'm on the phone and i walk out of my house and shut the door... sans keys. and i have to be at work in 45 minutes. and the only person with keys to my house is in Tennessee. and i have a dog and my cell phone. and the landlord is in Ocean City. after freaking out for like, an hour or some shit, i go into Mason's and explain my dilemma. WHOA! that was a really long time ago and for it to have remained in my brain that long it must be a great place. There were no chains so you really got to know your local pharmacist. My experiences with Mr. Pepper in the 60s , 70s and early 80s were very good ones. Back in the 60's when your child walked everywhere it was common to send your 8 year old child to pick up prescriptions, greeting cards, pain relievers Bandages ( We had 10 kids) and various sundries. Also, we i suspect a few times our family account might've been in slight arrears in those days but the beauty of this being a true mom and pop was that things were always resolved in a friendly, neighborly way. Fast forward to the 90s and 2000s and I'm not sure if it's still totally in the Pepper family still but my interactions with them as an adult have been pleasant and efficient. Just the other day an elderly friend of mine got turned away from a chain when she showed up for an appointment for her booster because they were overbooked. I got her in the car and I drove her to Pepper's because Pepper's is in her neighborhood. They were kind, caring, respectful toward her and happy to have her business. Try getting that at a Chain. Over a half century after my first experience with Pepper Pharmacy I continue to see That's its still a vital part of the Lansdowne and Upper Darby communities. Here's hoping it stays that way for many years to come.
