I still can't talk about Katrina without crying and maybe that's just me. I am admittedly a sappy fool, though. I wanted to visit this gallery specifically for the artist's series of portraits of people in the aftermath of Katrina. They are haunting, sobering and tear inducing. I waited till the end to look this set and good thing I did. She's brilliantly talented and I love her depictions of the south so much. But I left in tears. If you can feel a person's emotions in a photo or painting...that's powerful stuff ladies and gentlemen. Very powerful.

Famous for making uniquely beautiful pottery in the shapes of birds and bunnies, these pieces are truly one of a kind. Each piece is handmade on site. I have been gifted a trio of the birds and they really are very special. I will always be reminded of Jackson every time I look at them. The studio is open to the public to shop from 10am-5pm Monday-Friday and is open for limited hours on Saturday as well. The pieces range from approximately $30-$300+. The people that work there are very friendly and can help you if you have any questions.
