I haven't written a review on someone's services before, but my experience with Kimberly Sparkman was so shocking that I felt I needed to make others aware of her behavior. Especially after going to her for 7 years.
It started with the purchase of some recommended product. I was told in person that a 1/2 gallon size was $25, so I asked her to proceed and order it for me. Four days later I received a text stating that the 1/2 gallon was $40 and the 25 oz was $25, so still being the best value at $40, I told her I still wanted the product in the half gallon size. When I went to pick it up, I handed her the $40 and she asked me where the rest was??? I told her $40 is what she had quoted me, and she contradicted me, saying it was $50." $40 was all I had, so I told her I still had the text where she had quoted $40. She asked me to prove it, so I pulled up the text and she still looked unconvinced as she looked at her own text, but she finally conceded stating she guessed it was fine. So I paid and left.
In the meantime my family has had long awaited plans to move south in the metroplex, so my mother in law recommended her long time stylist to me. I texted Kimberly to notify her that we were moving, and although I knew the brand of hair color product she uses, I needed to know what color mixture she used specifically for my roots. I had planned to forward Kimberly's texted response to my new stylist, but I received no response. I texted the next day asking if she had received my text the previous day. Still no response, so I called and she picked up the phone and hung up. I tried a few other times and it continually went to voicemail with no responses. At this point I was perplexed as to why I was being ignored and could only think of the product purchase misunderstanding. So I finally gave Kimberly's number to my new stylist, thinking she would give the information directly to her. My new stylist said Kimberly did answer, but wouldn't give any information regarding my color because she told her she had already spoken to me and given the information to me. So my new stylist calls me and asks me for the formulation so she can order it for my scheduled upcoming appointment. I told her I had not received any text response, nor a return phone call from Kimberly. We were both confused thinking maybe technology was to blame, so I called Kimberly once more, and left her a voicemail letting her know that I hadn't received any texts or voicemail responses with my color information, and asked her to please resend. I got a text the next morning, 9 days after my initial attempt at contacting Kimberly, stating that she was sorry and thought she had already sent the text to me stating that she didn't give out her trade secrets. I don't understand how a color formulation specifically mixed for my roots is a trade secret, but I let my new stylist know and she came up with something that worked very well. My hair color looks vibrant and healthier than it did the during the time I was going to Kimberly, so Kimberly's snub worked in my favor. However, my new stylist says it's not uncommon for people to move, or to just want to switch stylists for whatever reason. She's says she's never seen a stylist that was unwilling to help their client transition to someone else the way Kimberly reacted to me.
