Also if you're attending a clinic, competition or other event next door and need something new or to replace an item, the location of store and staff make it super easy and quick to do. I'm not usually in the business of ordering saddles sight unseen, but I had exhausted the saddleries in my area and they had a very reasonably priced Hermes on their website that I just couldn't resist. The clerks were polite and didn't mind me grilling them over the phone. They have a nice flexible trial policy (a week give or take) and they only charged me $20 in shipping which is crazy cheap for sending a saddle across the country! When I got the saddle (it took 8 days) it was completely sound and looked exactly like the pictures. I was a little paranoid that for the price it might have some ripped seams or missing billets but there were no ugly surprises! It was exactly as they assured me it was over the phone. Good condition, just needed some oiling. The only discrepancy was that the saddle was listed as a 17.5", but its serial number indicates it was made as an 18". I haven't taken a measuring tape to it myself to see who was right but I'm fine either way since it fits my butt. This is a good honest saddlery and if I lived in Vermont I'm sure I'd be here all the time.

Make sure to use the side entrance as the front door is not the one that the shop is located in. If you're looking for something specific you might have to dig a little because there's so many items in this one little space. Ms. Sue, the owner is happy to order any items that you were looking for and she also knows all about horse training and is very knowledgeable. Purchased 2 pairs of riding pants, a riding vest, a tote and a saddle pad...$300+. Let's face it, equestrian outfitting is expensive no matter where you shop. Still, they have a nice selection and the staff is SUPER helpful and friendly. Some of these places can be pretty snobbish just because they cater to the horsey crowd and many of those customers are obnoxious elitists too. Not so here. They will bend over backwards to find what you need and even advise on where you might find it inexpensively if they can't supply the item. I'm only taking away the one star because of the stuffiness and heat in the store. Some fans to move the air would have been great. I'm not big on air conditioning per se, however it's a concrete building they're in and it felt quite closed in. One ancient a/c unit was wheezing away in a far back window, but wasn't having much effect at all. The location is a bit off the beaten path. Whenever we visit, it seems out of business, but when you walk in, there's plenty of merchandise. I'd like to see some more signage and maybe some flowers in a planter, something to make the establishment more lively and welcoming from the exterior. It's too nice of a place to pass by!
