    Course

Two stars because the course is nice, however, the middle aged gentleman at the front desk is rude and does not seem to have a customer driven attitude towards business. Specifically, he asked me "what is wrong with you" because I showed up 2 minutes before tea time which I apologized for being late. In addition, I'm newer to the sport so i wasn't aware I couldn't share my brothers clubs. When he asked if I had clubs I said I typically share with my brother and he responded angrily stating "'NO NO NO, NOT ALLOWED, you NEED to rent clubs." I asked him kindly why he is talking to me that way and he said LOOK MAN , I need to keep things moving." I sure hope other courses are not like this. Unprofessional

Course is generally in rough shape, and poorly designed. Many tee boxes face directly into opposing fairways and fore! Calls can be heard constantly. Pro shop worker with glasses is generally unhelpful and pretty rude, speaks with a condescending tone. Price is affordable. Wouldn't golf here again, staff is unbearable.

Beautiful golf course! I have only played golf here a couple times but I've been very satisfied with both visits. The pro shop staff is friendly and professional while making the tee time over the phone and in person. I noticed the new "golf bike" while I was there earlier this week. The guys in the pro shop were very excited to show us how it worked. LOVE the idea but I don't think I'm ready for biking a golf course quite yet! This is a 9 hole course so many people walk but riding carts (& bikes) are available. The entire course is beautiful and well maintained. I saw the cart girls out and about while we were playing. They were available and quick to get you drinks and let you keep playing. They were friendly and made sure to tell us they would still be out if we needed anything else. Overall--challenging course and professional staff! I will be back soon and hopefully I will play a little better!!

Best 9 I've played. Now I play it a few times a week either alone if I'm looking to get in & out or I'll jump in with a few old timers to get some stories out of em...I suggest everyone do that at least once by the way. Good to play the night before a challenging 18. Only negative is those awful bikes they let people ride around there. Do whatever you can to not be stuck behind a foursome of non-English speaking women on these bike caddy thingamabobs...I tried asking if they minded if I passed them and they just smiled and got on those god forsaken bikes. I didn't want to offend them...not sure how their culture views jumping a hole or driving a 3 wood 280 off one of their heads while riding one of those just completely awful for he game of golf bike cadets up & down the fairways looking for a ball that clearly went into the first hazard it crossed... But Im pretty sure they were guests in our country and who am I to intrude on there fun..luckily the ranger is a cool guy and didn't mind if went back a few holes so I didn't have to keep waiting around.

I have golfed here many times over the past few years and heard great things about their wedding receptions, so knew that it would also be a great choice for a baby shower with friends and family. We booked our date about four months in advance and worked closely with the event coordinator, Róisín Daly who was outstanding throughout the entire process from start to finish. She provided a thorough checklist of how to prepare for the event, along with the materials they provide and anything additional we would bring. On the day of our shower, Róisín, Jennifer and Martin were all available to help us set up and ensure that the serving staff followed the timing of our schedule. The Gallery room was the perfect size for 60 of our guests, offering scenic views of the 1st and 10th holes of the golf course. Everyone raved about the presentation and quality of the food, from the appetizers to the beautifully plated main course. Following dessert, we had a couple hours to play some games, mingle, and enjoy ourselves. Our experience was truly seamless, with great communication from Róisín and a perfectly executed event by their entire staff. Our guests had a wonderful time and the feedback was extremely positive. We would highly recommend this venue if you're looking for a classy event with friends and family, I can assure you we will be hosting more with them in the future. Thanks Róisín and team! First, the positives: the course itself is in great shape. Fairways and greens were…read morewell-maintained, the layout is challenging without being unfair, and there are some genuinely beautiful holes. For pure golf, Cantigny can deliver. The problem is everything that happened between shots. We booked three Friday morning tee times with varying numbers of players in each group. At bag drop, the host seemed less than thrilled by the arrangement and appeared confused about where bags should go. Maybe coordinating three separate tee times was complicated. No big deal--it was a brief interaction, and we moved on. Check-in was smooth enough. At $128 per person with a cart, though, expectations are naturally a little higher than your average muni. Then we arrived at Hole 1. Since golfers can be routed to either Hillside or Lakeside, there was a ranger directing traffic. Unfortunately, he seemed completely overwhelmed by the existence of golfers showing up for their scheduled tee times. Two other groups parked in front of him, and what followed looked less like tee-time management and more like air traffic control during a thunderstorm. We arrived 30 minutes before our tee time and were ready to go, yet nobody seemed sure where to send us. Eventually, we were directed to a tee box and instructed to wait 10 minutes after the group ahead of us teed off. Fair enough. Then, moments later, we got yelled at for not teeing off soon enough. So apparently we were simultaneously too early and too late. Quite an achievement. The group ahead of us was painfully slow. Every hole became a front-row seat to their entire golf experience. We watched every drive, every chunk, every search mission into the rough, and every putt from three different angles. I'm all for golfers of every skill level enjoying the game, but at some point pace of play becomes a group project. What made it frustrating was that we were constantly waiting on them while the ranger seemed fixated on us. I've played a lot of golf and have never seen a ranger appear this frequently. It was like having a very concerned wildlife photographer tracking our migration patterns. Every few holes, there he was. The funny part? We were a threesome of ladies hitting fairways, keeping pace, and generally doing everything golfers are supposed to do. If you're looking for the source of slow play, maybe don't start with the group standing around waiting. The ranger attention continued all day. By Hole 17 (Hole 8 on Lakeside), we were told to hurry up because an outing was starting in 12 minutes. Interesting. If the course knew an outing was scheduled, perhaps that should have been factored into the tee times they sold. It was hard to understand why the pressure was being directed at the group waiting on every shot instead of the group creating the backup. Then came another memorable moment. After a quick bathroom break heading to Hole 10, a van was blocking the only path to the next tee. We tried finding an alternate route and immediately got yelled at again--this time by entirely different personnel. Consistency is important, and Cantigny's staff certainly demonstrated consistency in that department. Initially, I wondered if some of the treatment had a sexist element to it. Later, after speaking with others in our group who experienced similar interactions, it seemed more likely that everyone was receiving the same abrupt treatment. Whether it was sexism, bias, or simply poor customer service, the overall experience left a bad impression. Also, the cart path only on multiple par 5s... NOT COOL! In summary: beautiful course, challenging design, excellent conditions, and a layout worth playing. But for $128 a person, I expect to spend the day focusing on golf, not participating in a live-action customer service obstacle course. Cantigny? Been there, done that, bought the overpriced tee time, and won't be back for a sequel.

They were friendly and not pushy. After our first meeting, we knew we wanted to move ahead with booking. They are very organized and gave us a folder to walk through all components of the booking process. The wedding food tasting went well and on our wedding day, it tasted just like I remembered! Their food choices are extensive. They offer both plated meals as well as family style. We chose family style so we could try multiple options. Jessica was our wedding coordinator, and she was great. She was very responsive to emails. (That was the easiest way to communicate with her). Our day of coordinator was Jessenia, and she was great too. She ensured the room was set up to our liking and kept us organized. I also want to recognize the day of banquet staff, Serrano, Danielle, and Jon, for being amazing too. (There were a couple of more, but I didn't get their names) Cantigny was a blast to work with, and everything I requested for our special day was honored.

The course is straightforward but you'll have to be aware of balls coming from other holes. Needless to say staying out of the trees makes things easier, but a sufficiently bad shot is not always the end of the world because you'll likely have space to get back to the proper hole. Condition was slightly below average, more from rain and other golfers than poor maintenance in my view. Finding an area to tee it up without the ground being torn up was difficult on many holes and I had to repair multiple ball marks on every green before even attempting to putt. Luckily there are ball washers and towels every hole. Unfortunately restrooms weren't often available so you're forced to find a secluded stand of trees or hold it until you get back to the clubhouse. Staff were very friendly but other players weren't. It wasn't the best weather to stick around for food or a beer but it doesn't seem like the best environment. The pieces are there to serve food and sit in or outside but there's no real ambience. $65 for a 1:50 Sunday tee time is reasonable. Better weather might influence the rating up, but a cold and windy June day wasn't my idea of awesome and the wind had a big impact on the ball on every hole.
