This is by far the worst driving range you will go to. Expensive for archaic service. There is not much around the area so you'd think you can give this one a try. Don't it's not worth it and there is an extremely creepy old man here. Other reviews are very true. A creepy old man named Rick Reidy is extremely foul mouthed to customers and made me feel so uncomfortable for the very young girls that work with him hearing what he says to them. So I would like to start off with the fact that my friend and I have came here about 12 times last year and twice this year. Today was our last day coming here. My friend and I both got back into golf last year after a 10 or so year hiatus. It was rough starting back up but after a few months last year we started getting back into the swing of things. The reason for my 1 star review is because as my friend hit a ball with his driver it soared right towards the fence (mind you, it didn't even hit the fence) the man who I presume is the owner judging by other reviews, rolled up in a golf cart and started scolding my friend telling him his grip was all wrong and if he continued hitting the way he was he would have to go pick up all the balls. My friend was actually willing to listen to the man and started taking the critiques and hit a few balls two of which went okay then the third sliced right again, worse than the one earlier. Mind you at this point my friend has hit maybe 20 balls and so far only two went right. All of the rest went straight and about 175-190 yards. The man proceeded to border line yell at my friend and told him to give his driver to him.... he said he wasn't aloud to drive the ball anymore, and if he saw him drive again he would be kicked out. What the hell if wrong with this dude. I drove the rest of my basket and my friend used his Irons for the rest of the morning. Needless to say that is our last time there. It's a shame because everyone else there seems pretty cool. I'm now understanding why it seems like they don't want his name anywhere near the business any longer. I will be telling all of my friends, family and coworkers to stay away from this place. read more

Old dog (The owner Rick) cant learn new tricks. With this terrible rating about his business, He is still acting the same. I would give them zero stars if I could. The owner Rich was rude and racist. I went there today and they didnt have information about the distance of each flag, so I asked the lady at the window. She didnt know either, so she asked Rick who was also in the club house but in a different room. He yelled some numbers at her, but she did not really understand what he said. She then told him to come out to explain, and the first thing he said was "Do you speak English?" First of all, your own employee didnt even know what you said. Secondly, is that the first thing you say to a customer? I confronted him about his comment, but he pretty much said there's nothing wrong and if you dont like it here, you can go somewhere else. Downers has covered hitting bays, better balls, better mats, and an automated machine for buying balls so you don't have to deal with the creepy old man. I'm sure you can tell by the other reviews, but the owner is extremely mean. I just moved to the area and was excited to try a new golf range. I went with my buddy and realized it was cash only so we went to the atm... only the door was locked. The owner came to open the door after about a minute and proceeded to say "it's open. Use your brain and open the door" to which I responded "I'm sorry sir but it was locked from the outside" he then said "I've been working here 45 years and I've never met someone who can't open a door". After that he started to swear at me. Then he made us move all around the range for no apparent reason. That altercation tarnished any chance of me ever coming back and I would not recommend this range to ANYONE. read more

I called 30 minutes before I left my house (the commute to the driving range is also 30 minutes long) and the owner told me they would be open for another 1 1/2 hrs. I left my house in a hurry just to arrive disappointed. This place decides to close early, so I decide to call again in their parking lot. One of the employees picked up the phone very unprofessionally, without a proper greeting and standing very far away to the point where I could not hear him. Also, he talked to me in a very rude manner, as if I was annoying him. Lastly, as I was in the middle of talking, this man decides to cut the conversation and hang up on me. This place did not even apologize to me for changing the closing time, nor did they care about anything I had to say. I've had better service at a fast food restaurant than this place. ****for manager's reference**** I arrived and called for the second time at 5:20 pm on 5/26/14. Looked out at the range and asked "if that was for mats only" to which the cashier (wish I got his name but I didn't) said "can you not read or is that in a different language to you" referring to their sign. He proceeded to sarcastically explain the sign and then asked if I've ever been here before. I told him no and I don't plan on coming back. He then asked if I ever heard of a different driving range and suggested I go there from now on. To end our lovely exchange he asked if I wanted the receipt and I said yes, he replied good because I'm using it later for my dinner referring to my credit card. Yes I'm aware he was joking, still given our interaction that was anything but funny. I don't recommend going here unless you want to be insulted and disappointed. The mats were subpar anyway. I haven't played golf in many years and finally bought a set of clubs and went to over this range to hit a bucket of balls. My only real complaint was that I felt a pain in my left arm so cut the session short and returned the unused balls to the office. I told the older man there I was injured and I thought maybe he'd refund a few dollars. Not to be. He told me to take it easy. I should have given them to another golfer. read more

I really like this place for hitting golf balls. It's straightforward- there are grass mats and for an additional fee you can hit off the real grass. They have Groupon deals pretty regularly, so you can get a lot of practice in for cheap. People that work here are nice and the facility is good. read more

This is a review in reference to Riedy's parking for Lisle's "Eyes to the Skies" festival over Fourth of July weekend (2014). AVOID, AVOID, AVOID parking at Riedy's. The workers were rude and completely incompetent when formulating how to let patrons OUT of the parking lot. We, and many others, were in our car as soon as the fireworks were over, and we were stranded for 1 hour... It's so badly organized, it would be laughable if it weren't so infuriating. Customers tried to tell the workers that you can't let the first two single lanes of cars out of the lot while only allowing a few cars of the last line to merge in. Key is the last line had 5 lanes already merging into it! They just don't get it. Some cars waited 10 mins or less to leave, others an hour. How is that doing a good job? Patrons were telling them what was happening, and got this response: "We've been doing this 20 years. You can park somewhere else." I guess, like us, there are just so many new unsuspecting customers coming each year, and they have a monopoly, so Riedy's just doesn't care. And then they have people yelling at you to leave when you're finally right near the exit, as if you need the encouragement - but seriously, they pay for some dude to do this instead of having him help with better management in the main parking area? Just wow. In any case, if they were this poorly organized and unconcerned with making customers happy when making $30k in one night, I'd wonder how much they care about customers, period. I have been hitting golf balls at Riedy's for years and absolutely love it. The staff has always been extremely friendly and their prices are extremely reasonable compared to other ranges in the western suburbs. They have Groupon deals quite often so you can get even lower prices for a lot of golf balls. The one thing that annoys me more than anything when I go to a range is having to wait for a space to open up. That has never happened at Riedy's, as they have a TON of spaces available. In response to the review about the poor mats and old golf balls, I completely disagree. The mats have always been in good shape when I'm there and I've never had any issues with the quality of the golf balls. I have been playing golf for over 25 years carry a single digit handicap so I know the difference between a good golf ball and a bad one. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you are not happy with your current range. Ask for Mike when you're there, he's an awesome guy! read more

This place is also A-OK. I hear their bucket prices are pretty reasonable, and for one standard bucket, you get a lot of balls. Plus they feature Groupons every now and then, so i think this place is worth going to. It's outdoors, it's got some targets, it has a good number of stations you can practice from, and a spacious free parking lot. Great place close to home to be able to hit some golf balls... It's not the most updated facility but it's good enough for a nice sunny afternoon with the boyfriend. It's right off Maple and Rt.53 so you can't miss it. I will second what some others have said here. I am in my early-40's, in shape, very casual (very high-handicap) golfer. Getting back into game after 3-4 years off. Went here the other morning. I am the only one there at 8AM. Owner (older fellow) walks by (I'm assuming it was owner given what he said to me) and tells me I need to stop using my driver, while I'm good enough to hit it hard, I'm not good enough to hit it straight. I'm going to break windows in houses nearby (no joke) - and that I need to take lessons. If you've been here - you know that getting 2 out of 100 balls over the net would be a feat - much less carrying the net and finding windows in houses further to the east, through trees. Further, the owner proceeds to say he is likely going to post signs stating that you can only use drivers if you have taken lessons (and then points to his place to take lessons). Again, this is all no joke - told me I can go elsewhere. I was cordial - said thanks. But in reality, no problem dude - I will gladly take my business elsewhere despite having come here off and on for 20 years trying to support a local small business. I can't imagine ever coming here again, it goes against every principle of me to support quality businesses/people. I will go to better maintained facilities in Downers or Naperville where I don't have to deal with this kind of attitude and business practice. I have been going to Riedy's for about 7 years, Mike and his staff are some of the nicest people around. The cost is very inexpensive and the facility is always clean. They have golf pro's that give lessons for a very reasonable price. Observing the pro giving lessons this is a great place for the beginning or experienced golfer. They have expansion plans in place for covered and heated tee line as well. read more

I have been going to this place for years (10+) due to the close proximity to my home and I have always been disappointed. The owner is a rather rude old man and not friendly at all. He has not updated his range balls or mats in the years I have been going there. This is a great place for a beginner who has no grasp on how a normal golf ball feels or where it should go when struck properly. His mats are old and thin plus hitting on these old mats is proven to essentially ruin your golf clubs (google search lie angle novice golfers). I would not pay an extra 2 dollars to hit off grass because the grass they use is similar to that of a local park and not of high quality. I feel bad for the ignorant people giving this place good reviews because they clearly have never been to a nice driving range. Every other range in this area replaces their golf balls on a yearly basis. It's a common sense thing, but this owner clearly likes the niche cash cow he has developed and his herd of cows that frequent it. read more

This place is bogus as hell. I bought a groupon and both times I went there they were closed. One time in the middle of the day in August and the other on a Saturday night at 7pm. I checked the website before I left and the hours stated the were open till 8 unless I would've never wasted my time driving there. When I went to the counter the guy said they closed at 7. I told the guy according to the website it said 8. His response was that it's just a website and not to read into it. Why have a website if it's not accurate. Well, I will never go here again...their customer service and facilities are very poor. Been golfing my whole life and this is among the worst places, only have gone because of location. I got there at 6:35pm...3 golfers were turned away as I got my clubs and I was among the next 3. While 15 feet from the window he yells at me that they close at dark! We still had half an hour of daylight plus they have lights! The worst part is the website says they're open until 8pm, so he says that's wrong...and I said you need to get that changed and they laughed at me. For overcharging at a shitty range they could care less that they just turned away 6 golfers within 10 minutes and 30 minutes of daylight left. With 4 cones blocking most of the driveway when I got there....they are pathetic!! It's a combination of them being lazy and they don't give a shit!
