First time visit! 1~2 minutes of waiting to be seated. 10~15 minutes FORGOTTEN about after being seated. While being circulated by 3 different servers. Surrounded by Fort Smith Soccer Moms decked out in Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Coach, and their fabulous bangles. As the true Yelp-ist I am, I spent most of the wait time after reviewing the menu adding this establishment! The seemingly completely freaked out server from across the restaurant ran up to our table wide-eyed, astonished by the lack of service apologetically helped my friend and I out. Said server, also a sweet man, brought us complementary pickled green tomatoes and pickled cucumbers! First time I've ever had green tomatoes! They were delishus! And the cucumbers were crisp and seem pretty fresh. My friend and I pigged out. We ordered: Brisket Sliders, Hot Pastrami Sandwhich, Lox & Bagels, and shared a Molten Chocolate Lava Cake, with each a side of fresh home made vanilla ice cream. The Brisket Sliders were pretty good. Stuffed with juicey, warm brisket in between a sweet roll. Decent, but could use more meat. My friend ordered the Pastrami Sandwhich, but I manage to nom on 1/4 of it. Also very good. Spicy mustard had a nice kick, her plate also came with a side of the potato pancake things. I don't really care for them much. I got the Lox and Bagels! Exciting thing is.. this is the only restaurant in Fort Smith that I'm aware of that has smoked salmon. Decent, but I've had a much more impressive combination else where (Dallas is amazing) Now for desert.. Oh. My. Gooosh. The home made vanilla is really good, paired with molten chocolate lava cake was almost heavenly. My wife and I, as well as all her female friends love this restaurant. When they first opened a few , not many, years ago, the menu looked interesting but the food sucked. Well, they are under NEW Management and owners. Same menu basically just now the food is wonderful ( like I said that my wife and her girlfriends (they're all at least 50 y/o) eat there often, but at least wife brings me home a meal, or her leftovers.BIG portions, little people. Like I said, the food is awesome, the menu interesting, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and can help with selections/what to order. They also offer outside dining, which the wife really enjoyed. Me at home with the dogs, who think they own me, and I think they do. Anyway, you should really give this place a try, think you will also be pleased (I want to eat outside with the girls :( but me and the dogs don't mind. read more

So I am a regular here and we called in an order to eat in due to time constraints and were told we could make it a to go order and eat outside as they don't offer a call ahead option. We get there and asked if we could eat inside and were very rudely told that we could not as that would take away from a servers tips, from a server who overheard and not the cashier who was checking us out. Nope, we actually would have tipped quite well for the accommodations as we would have also ordered drinks and then paid at the end...as if we got there and ordered while sitting at the table. We were fine to eat out of the to go boxes and would have been very easy to deal with, same tip but less work! Because of the server interjected at register, the rude one, we paid and left with the food. Maybe consider the tone and words you use as we come often and have had her as our server before. Probably won't return. Also might consider reevaluating your policy..what is the difference in calling ahead to eat there and sitting at a table and someone walking in to eat. We moved to Fort Smith four years ago and River City Bistro is one of those restaurants that we still frequent. We went today for Easter Brunch and the experience is one worth mentioning. If I had to describe our visit today in a word, I would say: Perfection. The experience is one you have when a restaurant has hit its stride and is firing on all cylinders. We had brunch reservations at 11:00am. When we entered, there was a rush of diners coming in to be seated; they quickly seated everyone. And despite what was a very busy brunch for them, the server was attentive and our food arrived quickly. We were in and out in about an hour. So, the service gets high-marks. The food... well, you go to a restaurant for the food. If it's possible, the food has gotten even better since the last time we had brunch with them, which has been 6-9 months. We got the Latkes appetizer and they were cooked to perfection: crisp, thin, and savory. I got the Crab Eggs Benedict with Asparagus and Latkes and I was not disappointed. My husband got the Corn-beef Hash and noticed they changed up their potato preparation and was very pleased they were served as hash browns. A friend got a Waffle (cooked just right and not overly sweet) and there is something simply addictive about the syrup that comes with it - I will definitely be getting that next time. I went for dinner with the wife. We had been there about a year ago and ordered the River city club. It was huge and my wife and I shared it last time. Our waitress was very polite and fairly new. She said they went under new owner about 6 months ago. Price stayed the same but portion and quality has went way down. The sandwich looked like something you could make at home with store bought white bread. Menu said had bacon and did not. Definitely not a 12 sandwich anymore. I ordered the cordon blue and was satisfied but portions are not what used to be. Chips and dilll sauce stilll good and has not changed. My parents have been raving about this place for months. I am so happy I had the chance to get a taste of the Saturday brunch. Brunch is only on Saturday and Sunday so be sure to plan for it! We arrived exactly at 11am and it was a long line of cars ready to dig in! The staff was super friendly and made sure to let us know if today's specials. I loved how the staff all worked together to give the customer service. We made sure to order different things so that we could taste the menu! We started out with the white Sangria and it was loaded with fresh fruit! My mom tried the open face breakfast bowl as it just launched today... it was amazing! I went here for the first time specifically to get the corned beef hash and eggs, which I love. Unfortunately what I was served was not that. It was a large layer of potatoes and onions, topped with a smaller portion of sliced corned beef, topped with fried eggs. While this is definitely NOT hash, it tasted very good and I enjoyed it. I wish I could give a TBD rating. I definitely need to go back and try again with a different meal choice. read more

I had heard a lot of great things about this place, but have never had the time to go during our short visits to see family during the holidays. I was very disappointed. Drinks & Service: Our waitress wasn't attentive at all. We ordered a bottle of wine; the waitress brought it out, set it on the table with some glasses, and walked away. Not a huge deal, but I've never been anywhere that they didn't *at least* pour the first glass. She came back only once to bring the check. Maybe she brought the food, too... I can't remember. My grandma ordered a mimosa. When they finally brought it out, it was mostly orange juice. A true mimosa should be mostly champagne with only a dash of orange juice. Food: Maybe it's personal taste, but I hated what I ordered. It was the Turkey Devonshire. Supposedly it is a "favorite" (highlighted in yellow on the menu). It tasted like something that I would make while drunk, thinking it's a genius idea, but leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Definitely not worth $10...but I wouldn't even pay 25 cents. My mom & grandma both ordered the Shrimp Salad. Although they liked the taste, the serving size was very small. Not what you'd expect for $12/plate. Overall, I do not recommended going there. This place definitely deserves 4 stars! This is a quaint little diner that has a big city feel. When you walk in the register in right in front and to your right is the more open part of the diner. To the left is/was a smaller space, I'm assuming for parties. I ordered the Turkey Devonshire, which is essentially an open faced sandwich. It can with sourdough bread, freshly sliced turkey, bacon, cheese and a thick creamy cheese sauce! I will say I was hesitant to try it, as there was a lot to handle!! However, the cheese sauce was so delicious. It was packed with flavor and it complimented the delicious turkey and bacon that was cooked. I'm not sure anyone else could top an open faced sandwich in comparison to this diner. Oh!! The complimentary pickles! Those thugs are so delicious and remind me wen I lived in Connecticut what wonderful little ma and pa diners they have and how absolutely delicious they are! My first visit today for lunch. To be honest I am wary of restaurants that use the term "deli" in their names as they are usually pretty far from a true deli experience. River City Deli won't be confused with Katz's or any other New York City or East Coast city deli by any means, but I was surprised by the menu in that many of the listed dishes could be found in one of those places. A pleasant surprise were the pickled green tomato chips that came as a starter with the traditional dill pickle spears. I had never had green tomato pickles this way before and they were very good, good enough to ask for more to eat with my sandwich. I ordered the Rueben, with potato salad (it comes with one side) as well as a side of coleslaw. The Rueben was good, though a little smaller than I would have liked. The slaw was very good but I will have to give the potato salad a second try before passing judgment. The meal and an ice tea along with tip ran me $20. The server was friendly and gave me plenty of time to make up my mind. It took a bit of time to get my meal to me, but I don't mind too much of a wait rather than have my food slapped together and tossed at me. The place was busy and most everyone seemed to be a regular. The owner (I assume she was the owner) came out of the kitchen and talked with a few of the customers answering their questions One other note, it was nice to see MSNBC on the television instead of FOX "news". I look forward to coming back and trying some of the other deli items on the menu to see how they compare. Overall, a good lunch experience. read more

The chicken sandwich was passable as it had decent texture and wasn't oily at all, but was carried by the pesto mayo and fresh mozzarella. Eggs Benedict, Cranberry chicken salad, Rueben sandwich, mimosas and Bloody Mary's topped off the brunch. The corned beef hash was pleasant and not over salted. Large portions enough for a party of two. The eggs were cooked as ordered and the Bloody Mary was out of this world. Rueben sandwich was piled to the moon with corned beef and Swiss cheese please. The chips are fabulous and have a kettle crunch. Eggs Benedict with ham was the needed middle ground of breakfast. Eggs snuggled in hollandaise sauce to warm your soul. The lighter side of our orders was the cranberry chicken salad, arriving cool and refreshing accompanied with bagel thins and fresh fruit. Can't complain when counting calories. Food is really good. We had a party of 6 and got a couple appetizers and entrees, with all of it being good. The service lacks a little. Our waitress was friendly but practically non existent. Didn't have any silverware when they brought the appetizers and also didn't bring any small plates, so we just dug in. Water glasses were always running empty and never asked if we wanted more wine.
