I ordered the Fried Catfish with coleslaw and green beans. Although I did eat it because I was really craving some catfish ... the fish had a bit of a funky/sour taste and just did not sit well with me afterwards. The coleslaw had a rather stale taste ... like the cabbage had a bit of a chewy texture instead of that fresh~crispness I want in my coleslaw. It just seemed old. But, the green beans had a smokey ham flavor that I found quite tasty. On the bright side, whomever answered the phone had GREAT Service Skills and new the menu. When I ordered, he clarified each item in the order and inquired about any modifications. He was pleasant and professional from start to finish. We stopped here on our way home from Little Rock to Roger's and we were not disappointed. The complimentary cinnamon rolls to start the meal were delicious and warm. I ordered the chicken pot pie which is really two fried pies stuffed with chicken gravy and a few green peas. No potatoes or carrots. It was mostly pastry. My husband's burger was great, but the onion rings were mostly a bland pastry that needed to be cooked a little longer. read more

I eat here once or twice a year every time I come to Fort Smith. I only come here for breakfast but every time I've been here it's been delicious. Super warm and cozy in here! Got here really early in the morning so barely any people in. service was fast. They serve warm cinnamon rolls they're complementary. Their biscuits and gravy were good. I had it with some sausage. biscuits fluffy in the inside. My only concern is that I was not a big fan of the gravy itself. Could've of been more hot and a little more seasonings. Super good! I'm from California and came to visit Arkansas and Calico County was one of the first breakfast places we were recommended. Our server, Percy, was soo great! We were regularly checked up on and given refills. I got the waffle combo with bacon which was super good! I loved the waffle and it was a good size. You get a choice of crispy or regular bacon. You are also given complimentary cinnamon rolls. I've never seen that anywhere else so I was excited! They were really good. This was a good breakfast. The service was pretty good and all the food was decent breakfast food. It's kinda like a small town cracker barrel and it's pretty unique with all of the decorations. The cinnamon rolls were good and they bring baskets of them to your table. The gravy wasn't hot and the eggs were okay but not great. The food is home cooking and a variety to choose from. The cinnamon rolls that are given when fresh and hot are so very good and I'm personally not one to like cinnamon rolls. The broccoli casserole is also very good when served hot and agin I do t care for rice but have this many times from here and it is a good dish. Luckily, a magazine we picked up at the Welcome Center had an article on Calico County. We went to Fuji's Japanese Steakhouse first and left after a horrible experience at check in to come here. They took care of us so well! They were more than happy to accommodate us and even sang Happy Birthday to my 91 year old Momma. They understood that we wished to be seated while my daughter that she hadn't seen in 5 years and my Granddaughter she had never seen plus my daughters husband she had never met came in separately.
