Greeted by a friendly server who actually if I wanted a booth or table. What a nice way to start off breakfast. My husband found them online because he was looking for cinnamon rolls for me. They bring you a basket. They are delicious No gooey icing thank goodness. Homemade and amazing. If you are in Fort Smith Arkansa stop and check them out. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They were on today! I have used them to cater at work several times. But they are ALWAYS on for catering. We stopped here on our way home from Little Rock to Roger's and we were not disappointed. The complimentary cinnamon rolls to start the meal were delicious and warm. I had the lite portion of the hamburger steak with squash and fried okra. Perfect size and seasoned very well. The sides were delicious. My boyfriend had the burger. It's massive and was great. I ordered the Fried Catfish with coleslaw and green beans. Although I did eat it because I was really craving some catfish ... the fish had a bit of a funky/sour taste and just did not sit well with me afterwards. The coleslaw had a rather stale taste ... like the cabbage had a bit of a chewy texture instead of that fresh~crispness I want in my coleslaw. It just seemed old. But, the green beans had a smokey ham flavor that I found quite tasty. On the bright side, whomever answered the phone had GREAT Service Skills and new the menu. When I ordered, he clarified each item in the order and inquired about any modifications. He was pleasant and professional from start to finish. I eat here once or twice a year every time I come to Fort Smith. I only come here for breakfast but every time I've been here it's been delicious. I had it with some sausage. biscuits fluffy in the inside. My only concern is that I was not a big fan of the gravy itself. Could've of been more hot and a little more seasonings. Went here for dinner for the first time and will not be back. We ordered the catfish, which had a terrible/nasty taste. I took one bite and couldn't eat more after that. We brought it to the waitress's attention, and she mentioned they had a new cook and had several complaints already. We also ordered the "juicy" roast beef. The meat was rather dry with a strange-tasting spice on it, and it was served with hardly any gravy. I had the vegetable plate; the mac and cheese was pretty bad too (not creamy enough and the type of cheese used was yuck). Green beans should have been fresh (according to the menu), but were canned. The carrots were overcooked, and the baked squash wasn't too good either. When comparing the meals here to CrackerBarrel, be aware that it's nothing like CrackerBarrel. They seem to be using some strange seasoning on most of their food, which didn't sit well with us. The best part was the waitress. She was excellent and very caring. The manager came by our table and explained how their catfish was prepared (with vinegar and lemon); we couldn't taste any lemon and thought the fish might be spoiled. She took the catfish off our ticket, but still charged us for a side at $3.65. We had really hoped for a good dinner experience, but were rather disappointed. read more

Super good! I'm from California and came to visit Arkansas and Calico County was one of the first breakfast places we were recommended. Our server, Percy, was soo great! We were regularly checked up on and given refills. I got the waffle combo with bacon which was super good! I loved the waffle and it was a good size. You get a choice of crispy or regular bacon. You are also given complimentary cinnamon rolls. I've never seen that anywhere else so I was excited! They were really good. This was a good breakfast. The service was pretty good and all the food was decent breakfast food. It's kinda like a small town cracker barrel and it's pretty unique with all of the decorations. The cinnamon rolls were good and they bring baskets of them to your table. The gravy wasn't hot and the eggs were okay but not great. Having just arrived in Arkansas from New York State a week earlier, we were frazzled and ready for a non chain place to eat. Luckily, a magazine we picked up at the Welcome Center had an article on Calico County. I looked them up on Facebook, and we saw that they had a turkey dinner every Thursday night, and that's my wife's favorite. Real turkey with dressing and two sides. And enough to bring some home. I had one of the delicious half pound burgers with fresh made onion rings. Yes, the cinnamon rolls they give you right away are tasty too!
