The staff who I've encountered have been pleasant and super helpful. They even reached out to my old doctor and hospital in Washington state to get all of my records as this facility does not use epic (mychart). I saw Dr. Cassidy today and she was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to get to know me and listened to any and all concerns I had. She has a great bedside manner and thoroughly explained what she was doing. While no one really likes the annual exam process, she made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Cassidy and the team at Virginia Women's center.

I've been struggling with the horrible symptoms of having fibroids for a few years and was in desperate need of some relief. The constant bleeding and painful cramps was taking a toll on my emotional and mental state. I went to a local OBGYN and had an ultrasound to evaluate how bad my fibroids were and to find out if there was any kind of treatment. They immediately encouraged a full hysterectomy due to my age being over 40 and not wanting to birth more children. I asked if there were any alternatives to losing my uterus, in which I was not ready to part with yet and they told me that was my only option. I was very hesitant and they were ready to schedule the surgery. I decided to put the hysterectomy on hold until I did my own research. the doctor was too excited about taking my uterus and it made me super uncomfortable. During my search, I stumble across Richmond Vascular Center. There were no reviews so I was going in blind. i read up on the UFE procedure and saw that I could keep my uterus so I scheduled an appointment immediately! My first appointment with them was very reassuring as it confirmed my hesitancy with the OBGYN office. I indeed had options and the hysterectomy didn't have to happen if I didn't want it. I'm so glad I trusted myself!! The staff was very kind and I met with Dr. McLaurin and he said that he would be the one to perform my procedure. He was very warm and kind. He explained everything in great detail and even mentioned that it's not 100% effective but it does have an 85-90% effective rate so I was willing to take the risk. They did and ultrasound of my wrist to check my veins to make sure I was a candidate or they would have to go through my groin instead to perform the procedure. He said they would insert a catheter in my wrist and inject these beads that would stop the fibroids from growing. I was a candidate for the wrist and that made me happy. They scheduled me to return and prescribed some meds that I needed before returning and after. Procedure day was smooth. Dr. Mclaurin asked what music I wanted to listen to during the procedure and I said "Sade". He replied, "great choice!" They started with the sedation and got started right away. I didn't feel anything during and the rest was history. They wheeled me back to recovery where the discomfort started after they reversed the sedation. Whew! The pain kicked in just as described and they explained how long it would last. They were upfront and on point with everything. I went home that day and started the recovery process. The first couple of days were rough and honestly I'd do it all over again for the results I'm having now that I'm post 5 months; almost 6. I no longer bleed or cramp and I can feel that my fibroids are shrinking. They helped me so much and I'm so glad I took a chance on this office. Anyone I know who suffers with fibroid issues I have recommend they come see why I'm so happy. Dr. Mclaurin gave me my life back and I'm so grateful for him and the staff!

I am extremely upset that my experience at this office was absolutely horrible, and I will not be returning. I have never felt more like a number than right now. The lack of care is extremely disappointing. I had a procedure in this office; again, I went here because they were listed as in my network. To my surprise, this office uses a different lab and sent it to a separate Doctor to review my results. Now this Doctor who I have not seen and did not know about was not in-network with my insurance. Now I have received a $530 bill in the middle of a pandemic and no explanation as to why it was sent to someone my insurance didn't cover. The receptionist handled my phone call poorly, told me I needed to speak to billing. I asked her why I would talk to them when it was their office that failed. She then placed me on hold without telling me, which I was stuck on for 15 minutes, just to be told, "Well, did you ask what lab they were sending it to?" I am a new patient, and I assumed that this was taken care of in their office, with their lab with the Doctor that I had been seeing. If they had cared, they would have taken a better look at my insurance and sent it to the correct one since there are apparently multiple. The receptionist was busy trying to rush me off the phone at this point and told me I would receive a call from a manager and no surprise to me I have not heard from anyone. Another note I would like to make, they made a surgical appointment for me without my consent, not even a phone call other than the one I got to "confirm" the surgery. Fixing that was a nightmare because of their hours, not being able to leave a voicemail, and no email. Never have I been to an office where they just make your appointment for you without calling/asking what your schedule is, especially for surgery! I understand I am just one patient out of the many they see, but this is unacceptable. I want to stress that anyone thinking of making an appointment even though it says they are in your network make sure you ask the "correct" questions.

I first saw Dr. Lisa when I was late in my pregnancy with my son. We had a wonderful visit and she really helped me feel much better and relieve some of the aches and pains of late pregnancy. She noticed something about how engaged my muscles were and she noted that she didn't think I would make it to my due date. She was right! In fact, I went into labor just a few days later at 37 weeks and 3 days. I only had 3 hours of contractions and a smooth delivery. I'm not saying getting adjusted by Dr. Lisa was the reason for that, but I'm not NOT saying it either. I'm sure it played a role, even a small one!, in my smooth first time mom labor. Anyway, here we are and i'm a little over halfway through my 2nd pregnancy. I've already started having some of the aches and pains so I decided to get in to see Dr. Lisa this week. She was just as peppy, bubbly, warm, and talkative as I remembered and I was flattered that she actually recognized my name even though we only saw each other one time! She watched me do a couple of things and then got to work. I'm telling you... she cracked the heck out of my neck. Seriously, getting adjusted doesn't hurt at all, but I was surprised by how many loud pops came out of my neck! She also massaged my lower belly and adjusted my spine. Babyyyyyyy, when I walked out of that office, I felt like I could fly. I literally felt so much lighter and limber than I did when I walked in. I felt so good, I texted my friends about it from the car, encouraging them to see a chiropractor as a necessity since we're closing in on 30, lol. Can't wait for my appointment next week!

I wanna say if not a year or more and I won't say this has been building up, but I The final straw. This gynecologist normally she is similar to a roadrunner. She talks really really fast and she talks over you and you will have to let her know that she is doing it because sometimes it seems as though she is not acknowledging it or she's just in her train of thought so that kind of ticked me off when I first initially met her but ultimately This is the reason why I'm leaving this practice. I chose to share my story simply because I want minorities women of color and just women overall truthfully to make sure you're very conscious about what your physicians are saying to you or at you rather and pay attention to the signs. For some background, I am a woman that has been experiencing pain in my lower abdomen and back, experiencing ovarian cyst, some filled with blood, and some filled with fluid. Due to This constant issue there have beenan untold number of times I've been in pain in reference to gynecological issues, unsure if it is endometriosis ,pcos etc. But the doctor listed above stated that there is no way for her to figure out if it is endometriosis or just PCOS or if it if I just have adrenal cyst, the only solution that she offered me was to get on the IUD specifically morena. Now this is not been the only time that she has recommended using an IUD as it would best work with the medication's that I'm also currently on to handle other matters, but I was cautious about it due to the fact that my body seems to be one of those types of bodies that experiences the horrible side effects and if not most things don't work for me. So today when I knew she would probably re-approach it as I'm going in for probably the 15th vaginal ultrasound in her not seeing anything or her seeing too small assist for them to do anything about it XYNZ she goes about this the topic of choosing an IUD and so this time I indulge her and I ask more about it and I asked what her knowledge is about it in reference to me being an African-American female. What I thought was going to be an intellectual in-depth discussion and I was going to gain further knowledge from speaking with her mind you yes for a side note she is a Caucasian lady, but has treated me decently so I thought we were above what I just experienced. during this conversation, she is the type to cut you off if she has something to say and whatever and partially, I didn't mind it due to the fact that I can be like that too when I either don't take my medications or I'm stemming really bad at that current point in time but during this conversation, she obviously saw that I was .trying to make a very conscious decision about putting something inside of my body that I don't really have much faith in and you seem to only be able to do just that one thing to help subside the symptoms so yes, I'm going to ask more questions. so what should've been a conversation of gaining more knowledge so that I can make a better decision for myself. She goes on to say oh I'm not sure about the recent studies in it. It's been around for 40 years and it's been proven to be very effective and I'm asking her I said OK but what is the real statistics on African-American females at my age or maybe slightly older or even younger? Who get this IUD and what kind of problems do they have if they have symptoms like mine? She then proceeds to tell me that she doesn't know. She just knows that it's been around for about 40 years and so on and so forth and I said well that's not very comforting for me to even consider putting it inside of my body because I would think that you would keep up with the statistics for African-American females, and apparently that set her off. She felt insulted that I insulted her intelligence, and I questioned her as a doctor not that I stood up for myself, and I was trying to understand exactly what she was trying to get me to understand, but she felt undermined essentially. so when I was trying to continue the conversation, she kept trying to cut me off. She got up and she basically stormed out of the room because I said "wow that's rude of you to just walk off while we're talking " she responds : no, what's rude of you is to question and question my education and what I actually look at and things like that. Me:I said why wouldn't I if you just told me you have no idea about the statistics that that is you telling me that you do not understand or you don't know or not even a that's a good question. Her surgical organizer was very helpful and nice on the phone. I am not sure of any of the other doctors there that people mentioned. But my daughters even go to Dr Mararist now.
