A representative from River City Staffing contacted me during my job search amidst the pandemic. While the nation was suffering uncertainty in job security, the staff at River City was able to secure me a temp to perm position within a reputable company in the real estate industry (my focus). This position resulted in a permanent hire, and I am beyond grateful for the efforts of the River City team! River City is a sparkling diamond in the rough when viewed across the board of any other agency I've ever worked with in my career. Their communication and truth seeking as to what you are looking for in a position (career building, culture, salary) really speaks to their ability to find you a solid fit and a place to plant your feet. I applied for one of their jobs and they contacted me the next day. By the time I talked to them I had an interview lined up. But the staff member that was working with me to find me a job was condescending and made me feel bad after talking to her. When I went for the interview, the staffer only put one person name on the list and was met with two more. They did not properly prepared me for this interview. I applied with them and was on assignment and everything went well great communication and openness. Once that assignment was over I was placed n my second assignment @ Timberlake. I started work on Monday, followed directions and did everything I was told. The person training me logged me in under her name and password and I just processed the paper work. On Friday of my first week there , IT came over to give me my log in and passwords. At that time he said I could be fired and walked off the job for being logged in under someone else. -mind you the trainer is the one who logged me in everyday, as I didn't have any log in credentials- IT was extremely rude and abrasive. I reached out to Cassandra and river city staffing to let her know what was going on and voice my concerns. Instead of comforting me or assuring me things were okay, Cassandra says "don't do it again". And she left it at that. Very unprofessional. I have used staffing services throughout my 25 years in the workforce. I've used large corporate companies, and local staffing agencies. For a free service most companies will treat you like your just another nameless resume in the thousands they see a week. My approach has always been to advocate for myself with agencies to get noticed. The job market has changed so drastically that my more traditional resume was not being noticed. I called the office frustrated at the lack of response and happened to get the Senior VP, she pulled up the resume I'd sent them and immediately started problem solving and offered adjustments to my resume to make me more marketable. Within a week of updating my resume I was offered a temp to hire position with a great company! When I first put my resume out there I got a lot of interviews with different staffing agencies but I must say River City Staffing placed me on an assignment so quickly and they made everything work out so smoothly! Amazing staff! I seen a position online on a Wednesday. I emailed my resume and got a call the next day. Made an appointment to meet with Cassandra on Monday for a face to face interview. I met with her Monday and she was able to find me something that day! She got me an interview after 2 days. I went to the interview, did my best and I got the job! I start tomorrow! Throughout the last year, I have bounced around through a few different temporary positions trying to find a career. I am a new father and times are very stressful, especially during this pandemic. With that being said, I have heard very positive feedback regarding River City Staffing and did some research myself. I called River City Staffing and explained my current situation. I applied with the agency for an Accounting position. A senior executive recruiter reached out to me and we met to discuss my experience and the kind of job I was looking for. After a few days she arranged for me an interview with one of their clients. Soon after I had this interview I received a call from the same senior recruiter letting me know that the company expressed interest in hiring me and that I would have an answer by the end of the week. The news I received was that the company decided to postpone the process for a couple of weeks. After the two weeks passed, I reached out twice to ask for an update yet the senior recruiter never responded. read more

I'm pretty disappointed in this agency. It started off promising (the only reason I gave 2 stars). I had an interview, was contacted constantly (almost excessively) and was placed with a job in the medical field (something I go to school for and take seriously) and then it all changed...I was let go yesterday 12/10/15, in an embarrassing fashion. I was told to let my references know they'd be contacted (which I did) and one reference was called while they were busy at work and said they'd call River City back. This reference called them back and was interrogated about their employment status/history and hardly any questions were about me. This person was very confused by the questions, why it was about them and not me and the River City Agent was very rude to him. The call was disconnected and two days later this happened: River City Staffing came to my job. My boss was confused by the visit and she had me sit in the conference room for privacy (it's a doctors office). After a minute, a lady walks in from management at River City Staffing and we start talking and she brings up my references. She claims I falsified a reference from a job I worked at 6/7 years ago. She also claimed I only worked at this place for a very short time and my reference never worked for the said company. I tried to ask who gave her this false and ridiculous information considering that company had closed down and reopened under a completely different name and management, and I was not given a straight answer. I had told her to contact a more recent job reference which was a Doctor but apparently she made her mind up and had my checks cut and ready. The best part was she escorted me to the front desk to grab my belongings, the break room (which she waited until lunch time to fire me) and then walked me outside and waited until I drove out of the parking lot. I was treated like some criminal all the while my word meant nothing. I had one reference (my last job) check out and told them I'd be happy to provide another, as well as contact the company that said false records about my employment, but she didn't care to hear me out. Needless to say I'm disgusted by the way they handled themselves. They should have checked my references prior to this company extensively training me and hiring me and should have given me more information on what was said and the opportunity to prove my resume is correct and not falsified. Those are very serious accusation only to not be given a chance to prove my side of things. I'm also 6 months pregnant and had to take the previous day off because I was in the hospital on 12/9/15 and then the very next day all of this happened. So if you're looking for a company that takes a portion of what you could be making and cuts your pay significantly only to profit off of you and doesn't care about your word and reputation, then River City Staffing is your place! read more

I started with RCS in September 2012, when contacted in response to a Logistics Customer Service Position posted on Indeed.com. I interviewed and was hired, with no clear answers regarding the length of my contract. I informed Shelly Covert at River City Staffing that I needed a temp-to-hire position. Long story short, I worked there for 7 months and began to get antsy, wanting to know what was going on with my contract in light of the many layoffs in my department that week. I spoke to Shelly Covert, my RCS representative, who informed me that my boss was going to let me go with everyone else. In passing in the same conversation, Shelly mentioned a position at Lumen's Light + Living that was available, but advised that I could not apply unless my current employer knew I was applying. She also mentioned that she "ethically shouldn't say anything about this job while I am still employed, as it was a conflict of interest". Shelly told me that she would talk to my current supervisor to confirm the status of my contract before I continued with the application process for Lumen's. My current supervisor informed her in that conversation that they were in fact delighted by my work ethic, my performance and my contagious positive attitude and were in fact going to make me a permanent employee. Since the initial conversation with Shelly did not seem promising in regard to my current job, I took the initiative to secure my own interview at Lumen's. In the 10 minutes between Shelly and my conversation and my conversation with the Lumen's hiring manager, Shelly apparently received word that my contract with my current employer had been terminated. Somehow, she also contacted Lumen's and made that an interview conducted through RCS, telling me in a harshly worded telephone conversation that I had "circumvented protocol". I was so confused; I sincerely thought that I was just saving her trouble. A former colleague of mine texted me the day I was terminated to let me know that I was going to be hired full time that day, and that my supervisor had mentioned this to Shelly and everyone was shocked that I had been terminated because I was great at what I did. Shelly made no mention of this to me when I had been weighing my employment options, in fact, she was the one that lead to me to interview with Lumen's. After 3 awkward interviews with Lumen's managers and a unnecessary drug test (Lumen's does not conduct drug screening), I got the job, only to be let go 6 days before my probation ended. That seems fishy, as if the managers at Lumen's were in cahoots with Shelly, ensuring that she receives her contract pay. Come to think of it, she is only one who skated out of this whole mess looking great. She got me 2 jobs, (although she was the means to the end for both) and she got the pay for me at both. Meanwhile I am unemployed again, with a big ugly 2 month long job at the top of my resume and no way to explain it. Save yourself the time, pain and humiliation of going through River City Staffing and just apply direct. Shelly is money hungry, conniving shark, hidden behind a sweet voice. read more

So I told her I would keep my appointment because they called me to move it. 3 minutes later some recruiter called me to ask me why I hung up on her. I guess if she was had a bad day. DO NOT USE THEM!!! They tried to get me fired from my current job about ten minutes after I applied for a job listed on their website. They called my work and asked for our hiring manager and I am positive the intent was to say they are aware that my job is becoming available, would my boss consider using them to hire my replacement. Unfortunately for them, I happened to be the one who answered the phone and I told them my boss was at lunch and she doesn't have voicemail. They said they'd try again. I called them back, told them I was onto them, and to remove me from their candidate list and never call my office again. I have heard of staffing agencies that use this tactic to generate business, but this is the 1st time I've been the victim of one. They could have gotten me fired! *ssholes!!! River City Staffing is the temp agency to go to. The people are courteous and are great with keeping up communication. Depending on your background and the type of work you're looking for you might have to do some computer literacy tests, but I found them to be easy to understand and simple enough to finish-it's so the company can find a good fit for you. Stephanie was very helpful in guiding me through the initial processes. And I found it easy to keep in contact with one of the recruiters-Vincent. I suggest coming prepared with your work history, and a strong initiative. I came to them looking for entry level positions in the administrative field and they were able to help me with that. I am so disappointed in this agency. They completely forgot about me, without even giving me a reason why. It was only when I called today to check back in I was told that it would not be a good fit. The reason why is because I had "retired to an assignment after it was terminated". I have no idea why that note was even in my file, as I had done no such a thing, and wasn't even aware of the fact that they thought that. The only thing I can think of in my last day (as far as me returning) was me leaving the office, walking to my car, then immediately walking back in back to grab my lunch I had not eaten. I have not returned since. And if this happens to be the incident they are referring to, well I really don't know what to say. They just gave up on me without warning or explanation. All this after doing them a huge favor and working this assignment super last minute (same day they told me about it). After the end of the assignment, I was told that they would be on the look out for other opportunities, and after that, I never heard from them (Stevi Lincoln) again. If I could give 0 stars I would. I placed an application and called and was given an interview. The person who interviewed me went over my resume( which I had already sent over when applying prior the interview of course) as she was looking over my resume she blatantly pulled faces. It was humiliating she said I didn't have enough professional experience for most of their assignments and that she had something that I may be ok for but there was a placement test for skills (which she definitely did not believe I could pass= did not even try to hide her doubt). I have worked since I was in high school like most,( over 10 years of experience) and while I may not have the most glowing, impressive experience, I am hardworking and fairly intelligent. I walked out of that office feeling so humiliated- like a loser really. I was already not to thrilled about struggling to find a job on my own, I now felt like I was completely incompetent in the eyes of those who are looking to hire. This was so unnecessary, why in the world would you call me in to tell me my resume and skill set aren't good enough to meet your staffing agency requirements? Why give me a placement test for a job you do not believe I am capable of ? It would have been better to have been kind, efficient and professional by letting me know when I inquired that I was not a good fit, instead of wasting my time and the interviewer's and being so dismissive and insensitive. I did try another staffing agency and was placed with in a week, was a top performer in my training class and have done well here, needless to say I'm permanent...Try Star Staffing (Bianca is great) or make sure the person who you speak with over the phone with River City has reviewed your resume because apparently they are too good for some .
