The park district does require vaccination and medical paperwork for all pooches to enter so not anyone can just bring their dog would properly being vetted. You also have to scan your card when you enter in the park so you pretty see the same folks. I love the fact that they have a smaller area for the smaller guys only and people who have small dogs take this very seriously. It's nice to have an area dedicated to the small pooches without fearing a big pup attack. They also have grass which is huge and saves pup's paw pads! Areas of improvement is that they need to clean the park more frequent than they do. There is often poop in the park that of course should be owner responsibility to clean it but the park should do its job to clean the park daily. They should also actively replenish poop bags. All in all, I'm pretty happy my dog has his social club to meet up with his friends for pup hour.

It has many amenities that are beneficial to dogs and their owners as well. For sure it makes good use of its land area. There's a fountain for filling bowls and pools. About an acre in area, so it's not a big area. Its surface is covered in wood chips. This is a benefit to pets because it provides extra cushion, plus it protects their paws from hot temperatures. A few things about it are common. It has separate areas for small and big dogs. Best thing here is the water play area. This sprinkles water and owners can fill up pools for dogs to paddle and go swimming. Has a lot to like about it. It's close to the entrance on Irving Park Road. There's benches so owners can relax while their dogs run around and bark at things.

It's one of the few dog parks in the area that isn't all asphalt - the mulch/dirt combo keeps the dog pee smell away. During the winter though, it is quite icy and mush. Recently, it's maintained the amount of dogs, but the attentiveness of the owners has seriously decreased. I have left multiple times because I felt that dogs were being aggressive and their owners were either not paying attention, or were not picking up on the signs of their dogs' aggression. I have a fairly large dog (56 lbs), so I'm not just freaking out whenever any dog approaches my tiny pup. My dog is pretty submissive, and not at all aggressive, so it's really unfortunate that we're forced to leave because irresponsible owners let their dogs bully her. This is, obviously, not all owners. Let's get Puptown back on track people! If you're dog STARTS behaving aggressively, pull them away to settle down. It can't be good for you, your dog, the dog that gets hurt, or the hurt dog's owner if something goes down. You can't go to a dog park, sit down, and expect other people to regulate the situation. I'm not getting in the middle of a dog fight between two dogs who, although half my size, could tear me to shreds if they wanted to. That's why EVERYONE needs to pay attention to their dog.

As Rafi said, it's a "nice stretch of pristine beach" - absolutely lovely, perfectly well maintained. It's buttressed by two rock "piers" which keeps it somewhat contained, water wise, and there's a gate to enter. The dog portion of the beach is essentially a peninsula so they can't escape on any side, although there is a break in the fence down by the water, so they can get around that (I've seen it happen a few times). You can throw a Chuck It as far as possible - either land side or into the water, you've got plenty of room. A teenager WILL check your dog's ID Memorial through Labor Day, so you'll need that tag. I think it's currently $33 for Wilmette residents and $160 for non residents. Check the schedule online - they're closed on Labor and Memorial day for dogs and also during the day certain hours because it's used for summer camps. People are mostly nice, although the ones that refuse to let their dogs off their leash cause a kerfuffle. Very rarely, there's an aggressive dog, but offhand maybe I've seen 2 in 7 years. (I'm pretty tolerant though). My dog specifically just wants to play fetch and more fetch and more fetch into the water, but there's usually someone else around who wants to play catch me if you can or steal my toy and let me chase you or wrestle until we knock the humans over. As a bonus, the Baha'i temple and the yacht club are just behind the beach, so the view is spectacular! If you're not a Wilmette resident, you'll have to park slightly more far away, but it's not that bad at all, and the walk is good for ya. Highly recommended and I don't know what I'd do without it!

Logan Square Dog Park is one of the better options for dogs around here. Basic looking but has some important features. The park is pretty clean and there's even a pool in summer. A pretty convenient but strange location to go. It's located on Western Avenue at the Kennedy Expressway so there's for sure lots of traffic around here. The park is known for a colorful mural on the walls. Among the features are a fountain. There's separate areas for big and small dogs, and in summers they even provide a pool. Good thing about this park is the ground is made of concrete. It's a lot easier to keep paws clean here, but be careful because this can get hot. There's benches for the humans to rest on, while the dogs go play and bark at things.

Warren Park is a very large park in West Ridge, on Chicago's far north side. It's the largest on…read morethe north side I think. I think I might have been here once when I lived in West Ridge a mile away. They have facilities for baseball, basketball, and soccer, as well as a 9-hole golf course (waaaaay on the northeast side of the park, at the corner of Pratt and Ridge), and tennis courts that double as pickleball courts. There's a path that runs through the park as well so you can walk or job, but I also saw people riding bikes on it when I was here. In wintertime, they have an ice rink. You can play cricket here, racquetball, and there are three playgrounds. The field house is large too. There's a gymnasium and the Northtown Garden Society operates out of here. I was surprised to see the garden club because I had been curious if there was one around here but couldn't find one. I'm sure one of if not their major project is the maintenance of the Warren Park community garden, which is between Western Avenue and the field house. Near the field house, on its south side, is a work of public art that doubles as a place to sit and take a load off. The history of Warren Park is a particularly interesting one and combines the politics of Chicago. The land was once the Edgewater Golf Course, a privately owned course. It was purchased and the community soon learned that the developers wanted to put a high rise and shopping center here. It was indeed re-zoned by the city when community efforts failed, and those groups (called the Allied North Side Community Organizations) appealed to the governor, who signed legislation making it a state park to preserve the open land, calling it the "first major state park in Illinois created in an urban area". The state only purchased about a third of it, though, and the remaining land was still undergoing development, much to the dismay of the surrounding community. Is the end, the Chicago Park District chose to condemn it and turn it into parkland, and the state transferred its property to the city. This park as a very large parking lot, which is good since there are so many activities here. There are bathroom facilities inside the field house as well. The field house and playgrounds are accessible, and depending upon one's accessibility needs other areas of the park may be as well.
