She is the best!! I am so sad that i'm graduating and won't be able to come to her regularly. She has excellent service, is extremely well priced, and fun to chat with. She even taught me how to actually trim my own bangs at home and her tips really work. You can tell she really cares about her work, she even touched up my bangs when i put my glasses on right before i left to make sure they sat well with them. The owner of the salon does a perfect job every time: never too short, never judges, and so sweet. She's very talkative and adorable, the vibe of the salon is affectionate. I literally drive down 3 hrs from Chicago to see her, you cannot go wrong with Jia's services. I was in desperate need for a trim. I wanted to find a place near campus and I saw the great reviews on google and here so I thought why not! Jia took me on a very busy day! I called her the morning of July 2 and she was able to take me that afternoon. She is very personable and took time with my long hair. To be completely honest, haircuts always make me nervous but with Jia cutting my hair, there's really nothing to worry about. She's meticulous and really takes the time to do it right. The first time I went in, she noticed that my previous haircut was uneven and took the extra time to make sure everything was symmetric. She'll never cut off more than you want as she tends to err on the conservative side (which is a good thing in a haircut). I usually end up telling her to cut more. If you're going for something a little edgier, make sure to communicate it well or you'll probably end up with something a bit more safe. However, if you tell her what you want, she does an amazing job of meeting your expectations and really giving you a gorgeous cut. She's really busy so although walk ins are accepted, it's always better to call ahead. read more

I am naturally blonde, but I only get an all-over color once or twice a year with root touch-up's in between. My hair looks fresh and shiny! I usually do a "2N" on my roots, but Jia recommended a "2NW" which was a little more natural looking and less ashy. I tried this place because I hate hair salons and Jia had several good reviews on here and Google. Since I've moved to Lafayette (4 years ago) I've had my hair done twice, both times I left disappointed and never went back. I hate when the person doing my hair tries to sell me stuff. I already pay a ton of money to get it cut and or colored, I do not want to spend more. Jia does her job, very well, and its personable. She takes her time to craft your hair just right and is very down to earth. Best of all, she doesn't sell hair products. She did what I asked her and we had some laughs while she did it. I'm not going anywhere else and will be getting my hair cut in timeframs closer together now, because I'm not anxious or terrified about how my hair may look. Rude! I went in to ask a question with the intention of making an appointment due to the awesome reviews online. The stylist didn't listen to me at all and continued sweeping the floor while I tried to ask questions about their services. She was very rude and I quickly left wanting to cry. I am quite picky when it comes to hair salons and whom i let cut my hair. Jia(the owner) was absolutely amazing and the price was right! She gave me a full head of highlights and they turned out better than i have ever gotten them. I only have two complaints, since jia is both the stylist and the owner she seems to over book her days so this causes people to wait 10-15 minutes if she is behind. Also, the styling job she did on my hair did not reach the level of excellence that my highlights did. I highly recommend everyone to try her out! read more

Male here, decided to try out a new place so I went here to get my haircut. Big mistake. She attacked my hair with her scissors like a woman gone mad. Rushed through it without any thought as fast as possible. Ended up with what seemed to be a disappointing haircut at first glance. Upon further investigation when I got home, it was a disaster. I went to this salon based on the reviews here. Prior to a big vacation, I went in for a trim on my shoulder length bob. My hair was one length angled from the back to the front. Jia seemed to be a nice woman, but she butchered my hair. She just started cutting all these layers in the front of my hair. I told her that I was confused by what she was doing with my hair as it was no longer a single length bob. I asked her to do what she could to help me style it and we decided to do some low-lights. I told her that my past experiences with color resulted in big blond patches and I hoped to not have that. She thought a few highlights would be great for my cruise. In the end , I had a big blond patch which she tried to then cover with another product. She continued to cut more layers parting it on the side. I explained that I never part it on the side and she reparted it and was done. She seemed anxious to leave for the holiday weekend as her husband sat waiting. I am not sure where the confusion started, but I said from the beginning that I liked long, one length hair and I was there for a trim. I shied away from the camera during my whole vacation disappointed in what had become of my hair. After many tears, I finally ventured out yesterday to try a new salon in town. I am happy to report that I had a great experience at Angela's Images and would highly recommend them. Jia at River Hair Care seemed to have her regulars, but I will not be returning there. read more
