I got my hair done before a special trip; the color didn't stick to some of my hair (especially my roots) and I was very disappointed. It didn't come out the way I truly wanted it to. It still looked awesome other than my roots and if I needed my hair done again similar to that I would be back. The salon is cute, and I loved meeting the owner. Recently had Genevee give me a trim (after 2 years without a haircut!) and she did a great job. She came highly recommended by several friends and her reviews on Google are great. She recently opened her own salon, and it's located in a cool historic building on Main Street downtown. Very chic! OH - and there's a really cool boutique downstairs, The Velvet Underground. Genevee is so patient and is a great listener. I'm going back this week to have her add some pink to my hair - which she's super excited about. I moved to Lafayette about 6 months ago for school and struggled to find a place to get my haircut. In my previous city, I had the same hairdresser for about 3 years and grew to trust and respect her opinion on how my hair should look. For six months I hopped around to different places before stumbling to Genevee's today. Brandon gave me a great haircut, and made suggestions, but ultimately listened to me about what I liked to do with my hair and worked with that. Also, he made some great suggestions for how to care for my hair, which is something that I haven't really ever had someone help me with. The salon seems to be in a state of flux right now though (like rearranging the layout, or something), but it's a great open feel and super convenient. You can make appointments on-line and they'll even send you email reminders so you don't forget about them later. Got my hair cut here today by Hali and she's just great. She was really knowledgable about hair products when I asked about different products on the market. She could tell me immediately about concerns I was having with my hair and how to alleviate the issues. And she obviously gave me a great cut, asking me about the style and making sure I really received what it was that I wanted. This was so reassuring and made me trust her entirely as a stylist. I had a first appointment at Genevee's Salon with the owner Genevee. I made the appointment online for a hair cut and balayage color...Carmel to blond. When I left the salon my hair was red to orange to blonde! I was so disappointed, I sent two messages to Genevee, no response! I spend 145$. She is very, very, creative and has a lot of advanced training also. She takes new classes all the time which keeps her on the cutting edge of techniques. A little background first. My mother has cut my hair my whole life and has been a beautician since I was a child. She has always cut my hair up until when she moved away 3 years ago. So finding a place to get my haircut has been difficult to say the least since I have such high expectations from growing up with such a talented beautician. I've come to Genevee's maybe 4 times now out of the several times I've had my hair cut by people who weren't my mother. The staff is always polite and friendly which is expected. Last time I stopped in I asked for a certain style. I showed them a picture and asked for the sides and back layered to the top with the top slightly longer than the sides and back. I left with an undercut and a good chunk of hair on the back of my head sticking up and much longer than the rest. My girlfriend told me to go back in to get it fixed since it was so noticeable. I have extremely thick hair and I always keep it some what shaggy even when getting my hair cuts because it's my style. The sides and back of my head are buzzed so short I can see the scalp. I feel like I can barely pinch the hair it's so short. The saving grace of the hair cut is the top is exactly the way I wanted it and I've gotten quite a few compliments. The hair cut looks good and isn't awful but it isn't at all what I asked for. I'm giving 3 stars because the staff is always nice when I go in and the hair cuts I've gotten aren't bad but they're not what was expected. read more

Spent countless hours searching for the perfect place to get my hair done and after reading many reviews in favor of Genevee's Studio, I decided to book an appointment online. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by Carrie. She was wonderful, so friendly... However, she did such an awful job on my hair. I showed her the picture of how I wanted my hair, granted my hair is dark so it would take time and patience to get the silver platinum in my hair. She was super excited and told me that what I wanted wouldn't be hard to achieve at all. I already did my research and understand that the color I wanted would take time, I thought maybe she could do some miracle. I showed her the picture twice and she ended up giving me all over caramel highlights. I honestly have no idea what she did to my hair, if she was going for the ombre I wanted or highlights since the highlights didn't even touch the root of my head like highlights which isn't what I wanted. Told her I loved my hair which I actually hated. I paid $120 for whatever she did to my hair and I tipped her $50. I was so unhappy with my hair and after consulting with a few stylists, they told me to go back, some of them even laughed at how bad of a job she did. So, I emailed and I haven't received an email back. I'm giving them two stars because she was very attentive and friendly, she even gave me a hand massage while we were waiting for the color to set in. It just sucks that I had to go to my original stylist and pay another $140 for a mistake she did. read more

I really wanted to like this place but it wasn't a good experience. I booked two appoinments online. One for my three year old daughter and one for me. When I got there they had some kind of confusion and Geneeve was coloring someones hair. We patiently waited and about 15 minutes later she was ready for us. She gave my daughter her haircut and it was fine but awkward because she didn't have a booster so she couldn't see the back of her hair. Then she started mine in a hurry because the lady with the foils was waiting. My haircut was really bad. There is about an inch difference between my right and my left side. She didn't blend the front and it has many uneven lenghts. While i was getting my haircut my daughter brought me a bunch of old dried up hair that she found on the white stained couch. The place was dirty and so was the bathroom. I hate to say this because they were very nice to us, they even gave my daughter a candy cane because hers broke but it was bad all around. She did gave me a discount because she had to be done quick in order to tend to her other client. I have scheduled an appoinment for a haircut at a different salon unfortunatly this won't be until after the Holidays so I will have uneven hair in all of our Christmas pics :( read more

I just had my hair cut and colored by Genevee. She did a great job, listened to what I wanted and gave me input when I asked for it. She cut my hair while it was dry, which was a new experience, but the cut turned out great! She also gave me highlights, which were a first for me, and I loved them! She gave me exactly the look I was going for. One downfall was that the place, while very vintage and charming, was a bit messy for my taste. I would have liked to see it just slightly more clean and professional, but hey, she still did a wonderful job on my hair. I went in there a few days ago and walked out extremely upset. I asked for blonde hair and she gave me purple hair. The stylist acted like she didn't know what she was doing and used some techniques that I had never seen. The girl refused to fix it and still wanted me to pay.
