I only get on Yelp to write great reviews, but this time is an exception. We're out $115. and we didn't even last through the night in the bed which had to have been full of bed bugs or fleas - my husband was getting bitten every minute. At about 1:00 in the morning we had to get up and leave and find a different hotel. I really wanted a refund but there was no one there to talk to. He tried taking a shower but the flooring was so old and moldy it was actually caving in. Parking lot seemed sketchy too. It was absolutely filthy. Not just dirt, filth. Looked like it had NEVER been cleaned. My non-smoking rooms smelled of smoke. There was grime on every inch. Also, had music blaring all night, doors slamming, cars honking, and people screaming all hours of the night. I've stayed in some pretty rough hotels, this was unlike anything! read more

Not a bad place to stay. The receptionist was very nice, and was able to get us a handicap accessible room, which had a huge bathroom, but the we check in time was way off. We ended up Having to wait an extra hour, which wasn't pleasant in the Summer. It was a daily quiet night and the room was reasonably clean. Nothing fancy, but a decent room and a decent mattress. This place is a 1 star place just because it puts a roof over your head. My room stunk like cigarettes big time. The bed was old and the sheets looked 10 years old. The 1960s bathroom was disgusting. This place is old and run down. I paid $130 midweek. Not worth the price! Should have been $39. Honestly I think I've stayed in a Motel 6 (once) that was better than this place Live and learn. Oh did I mention all the meth heads roaming the streets? I just hope my car doesn't get broken into. Then I will be beyond pissed. Already pissed because this room is nasty. The reason why im giving this rating it's due to the great customer service all the receptionist gave. The hotel it's ok, it's cheap but nice. Some parts are broken but my room was clean, don't except a 4-5 star hotel cause susanville doesn't have one if you're in a budget. Someone was smoking down stairs and the smell was coming up in my room, i told the front desk and she was amazing she took care of it right away. They do have one or two crack heads staying but overall it was good for the price. read more

3:00 check in time? Our room wasn't ready until after 5:00, then it wasn't even our room, we had to take an upstairs room. If it wasn't for the fact that it was a holiday weekend and every hotel in town was full, we would have left. The outside was full of trash. I felt like I was in the ghetto. read more

I could say lots about the condition but the highlight for me was when I checked out (after one night because it was too foul) and while packing i check under the bed to make sure I didn't leave anything- and what do I find? Visited 5/24/2018 2 Stares is being very generous for this Inn. The room was very dark and dingy. The carpet by the restroom was damp and soggy like someone poured something on it. Sadly the hotel was sold out just like all the other hotels in town so we were stuck for the night. The bed was harder than a sheet of plywood. Made for a very uncomfortable night. Set in the air conditioner on fan only was OK for an hour two and then kept shutting off by itself. Pretty sad. There is no swimming pool or Jacuzzi as most hotels have especially for what they are charging here. There is no coffee available in the morning till after 8 AM which is sad because most people are on the road by then when they're traveling. This is also the only hotel on my trip that didn't have a coffee maker in the room. You would think when you're spending well over $100 a night you would at least get a cuppa coffee in the morning. This room should be more in the price range of $20 a night and that's a fact. If I'm ever back in Susanville I sure as hell will not stay here. Good luck if you choose to. read more

We stayed one night, which was too many... The woman at the front desk was very nice and efficient, but... As soon as we opened the door to our room we smelled wet dog and noticed the window was partially opened with the AC on full blast. As we were setting our bags down my son noticed hair and stains on the blankets, so I looked at the other bed and it had a dirty blanket with hair on it also. Next stop was the bathroom which had a dirty toilet and no toilet paper, there were no tissues either! Then we noticed dog hair on the floor and trash under the beds. I immediately called the front desk, and she apologized and said she would have house keeping come take care of it. It took about an hour for housekeeping to deal with the mess. We left and came back, but we were sitting were we could see them coming in and out. The room was much better but the counters had still not been wiped down and the floor was only swept out the front door so it wasn't real clean. After we came back the AC was cranked as low as it would go and the wet dog smell was getting worse, so I shut off the AC and opened the window. That seemed to make the smell go away for the most part. As a side note the parking lot, stairs and walkways were covered in trash a cigarette buts which is not surprising sine they just sweep the rooms out the front doors and don't use dust pans or vacuums. Oh, and the furniture was placed really weird blocking the wall mounted lamps. I actually had to slide the dresser and bed just to use them. read more

Room is clean a nice stopover on my drive to Mesquite, NV. Happy to stay here in the future no problem.

the place is a death trap. accident waiting to happen. long, wobbly parts of the 2nd story walking deck railing stretch out between vertical supports. the bricked courtyard has proven trashnado tendencies in light winds. there are rooms with boarded up windows, dead bushes in the planter boxes, unswept walkways and an uneven, squeaking fan in the room temperature control unit. woke up early one morning to find a cockroach skuttling on the wall behind the tv. killed it, but yeeks. did i shake everything out enough before i left? the shower felt like turning on a hose. turns out, more then what would drain. you get out, blasted clean by the pressure washer. but is it enough to wash the depression of this place out of you that soaks into your very pores? depressed, and maybe going crazy. hearing voices. Are they in my head or, nope... those are the neighbors. thought of a new reality tv show while i listened to their drama.... dive motels of America. complete with the recurring characters who rent by the week or longer. occasional cameos from the local crackie riding a stolen kids bicycle, the random elderly couple who have a 2nd floor room but need an extra 15 minutes to navigate the stairs, miscellaneous grumpy contract workers in town for a job, and a squad of unhappy maids that lurk around the stairwells. read more

Nice receptionist gave me a smoking room without asking - it was the foulest most disgusting stench you could imagine. Holes in the carpeting, TV did not work. Nice receptionist failed to mention anything about WIFi - because who would want that? Room was stunk so bad that when I woke up at 4:30am I just packed up and left - thats when I noticed people in motor homes living in the parking lot ... classy place. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. We had reservations for a room during fair weekend. It was the last room left in town. We travel 6 hours from home to get there, 15 minutes from the hotel we get a call saying they had a guest that decided to extend their stay so they were out of rooms. But they booked us a room at some other hotel. We get to that hotel and it looks disgusting and dangerous for the baby and child traveling with us. So 6 hours away from home we now have no where to stay. Thanks to the incompetent, unprofessional staff working at river inn. Judging by these reviews sounds like we lucked out by not having to stay here. read more

I have now stayed here several times. While its not fancy it is clean and the pricing is fantastic. The manager is a kick and really knows the town and area. The housekeeping staff is good, location is good and the restaurant on-site fits the bill. Susanville is a whistle stop for me but,I enjoy the time I spend in this motel. read more

We stayed here on a trip to Susanville. It's a really nice place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Check in was a breeze. The rooms are large and clean. They come with a hair dryer, phone, clock, microwave and mini-fridge. They have a laundry room with an ice machine, soda machine and snack machine downstairs. Excellent WiFi service here. They a a few HBO channels but no program guide in the tv There is a printed guide on top of the TV but that wasn't much help. There is lots of shopping and restaurants nearby, all within walking distance. They have complimentary coffee, tea and Danish in the office to start your day. They're pet friendly here and charged 11.00 for my Chihuahua. The only issue I had is there is no grass anywhere for my dog to do his business. So be prepared for a walk. We'd stay here again. read more

The bad-Cigarette butts on the stairway up to my room. Found beer caps on the floor. Mystery stains on the chairs. Soda machine was completely empty. Moldy looking stains on the tub floor. Has a old square TV...lol The good-close to grocery store & restaurants. Beds were good enough to sleep on. Fridge and microwave both worked well. The room temp was well maintained but the unit was loud. If you stay here bring your own blankets. Overall I will never stay here again. Nice simple, clean motel. Can be a bit noisy if they're full. Also, a lot of contractors use the place for their employees to stay in on jobs so it's sometimes busy. One thing that helps make this place nice at it's price point is that they have a very friendly, helpful staff. I've stayed in a few of the other cheap places in Susanville and the River Inn is the best by far. read more

After a very long day, all I wanted was a bed and a shower -- and that's what I got. Room was clean, but definitely a little worn. Missing a lightbulb or two, and even the chain lock on the front door. Staff was very personable. Price was decent so I guess I got what I paid for. This place definitely shows some age. The room was mostly clean although there were items on top of the cabinet that looked like they have been there for awhile. There was no safe (listed in amenities). The bathtub had a drip & I was unable to turn off the blinking light on the telephone. The room was stuffy & the a/c did not circulate well. The door to the ice machine was extremely difficult to open although it seems this was fixed by the time I left. I definitely wouldn't recommend it & would not stay here again. read more

Very rude staff with obvious discriminatory practices. My boyfriend and I stayed here and felt like we were being watched. After I left in the morning the front desk clerk harassed my partner claiming he was smoking in the room. I don't smoke and Cory was out so I know this is BS. After he left we had a $100 charge added to the bill. I'd give no stars if possible. But be warned. The place is overpriced and run by creepers. Stay away. read more

We stayed here on our way from Lake Tahoe to Lassen Volcanic National Park and I was very happy with our room as well as the price. We went on Yelp because all of the hotels we called were $100+ a night and found River Inn. The guy at the front desk was so nice and friendly and gave us some tips of stops to make on our way to the park. The room was nothing fancy but it was large, clean, and had a huge TV all for $70. Great place and if I'm passing through again in the future I would certainly stay here again. Thanks River Inn! read more

I was so desperate for a room I actually was going to cave and come back to this nasty place, luckily I found a little bit of a better place AFTER the man who took my phone number and said there definitely was a room available for me and I was so grateful! He said he would call me back in five minutes when it was available so my family and I went to get a quick slice of pizza and after about thirty minutes I called back and he started laughing saying "oh yeah sorry o got busy, we are out of rooms hahahaha"... ARE YOU FREAKEN KIDDING ME?? What ever. I was itchy for weeks last time I stayed for just five hours before I couldn't take it anymore. That's what being desperate gets you. They should honestly just shut this place down. Employees, location, and in general the motel is not work the land it's on! read more

There were brown stains all over the carpet, a brown shoe print of something on the bathroom floor and the sheets on both beds hadn't been changed they had hair on them from previous guests. Had some serious issues with the room we were given. Tbe air conditioner wasnt working properly and would go on and off every 15 minutes. It also made sounds that sounded like a freight train that made it impossible to sleep. My mother attempted to take a bath and the. nozzle was stuck and almost impossible to get the water turned on. In the morning, without a knock, the maid just walked in our room at 930. Checkout time is 11.. I travel extensively with work and when I told the front desk the issues I was blown off and told well.make sure its better for the next person.. I will not be staying here again. Checked in to my room today on 4-8-20 what I found was absolutely disgusting, meth was on the bathroom sink along with a baggie of meth in the tissue box...bedding is not washed hairs on the pillow cases fucking disgusting do not stay here the house keeping is lazy how the hell don't u see a bag of drugs in the tissue box when it is clearly sticking out!!! Recently had to travel to Lassen County to scout a location for a film shoot. Stayed here a couple of nights and like the County nothing is very fancy but, it is what I would call wholesome. My husband does construction and was sent to Susanville to work on the Rite Aid. My son and I were able to come with him. Were from Azusa CA. This motel was very clean and the staff were great. It was home away from home for us. We stayed for 2 weeks and we loved the room we were in. It was room 210 and our window faced the main road which my one year old loved looking out the window and watching the cars go by and the people exercising across the street lol. Unfortunately a guest complained on us being loud, but with a toddler who happen to be teething, well nothing I could do. I did my best to keep my son content and I'm sorry to the guest. Other than that we had a great time. If for whatever reason we're in Susanville again, we would definitely stay at the River Inn. Thank you for having us! read more

A nice place to rest your head for the night. Not the most modern, not the fanciest, but way more than you're expecting from an Inn. A great restaurant shares the same parking lot. There are actually two...a steak house and a Mexican restaurant. I went for breakfast, and let me tell you what...I'm from San Diego and we have some of the most amazing Mexican food around. I had the machaca and eggs. 5-stars, A+! Epic meal. My buddy had the Huevos Rancheros and he thought the same. Hand made tortillas folks. Wow! Anyways, this review is about the River Inn. Sorry, the food was that good. Now, Eris, the sweet lady behind the counter...is a true gem of a human being. Ready for this? She's 91, has been at the RI coming up on 40! years and is simply a wonderful woman. Me and my buddies were on a motorcycle trip, and she actually called the rooms the let us know that it would be OK if we wanted to park our bikes out of the rain, in a special spot, so that "they wouldn't melt". She also gave us recommendations on where to eat/drink in town. So in closing, if you're cruising through Susanville, and you want a place to rest up, go visit Eris...you won't regret it. read more

Avoid this place unless your only other option is to sleep outside or in your car. For starters, we had to wait for two hours passed check in time for the room to be cleaned. It's not even full cleaned with food still in the microwave and spots all over the mirror in the bathroom. There is trash all over the parking lot and it gives you a kind of sick feeling like you are staying in some inner city project. It is a holiday weekend, so every thing else is booked. Not worth the money they charge. The ac/heater air filter is so plugged you can't get enough air. Way way too much furniture in the room, you could barely get through it. Junk piled high outside.
