I popped in because I saw free samples- yes, I am that person! The samples were for a Gin made in Atlanta- one of the owners/distillers was in house giving out samples neat and in a little cocktail. I always enjoy a good Gin and I lean towards flavors that are milder. This was a great blend of botanicals and it was easy to snag a bottle after talking at length with the distiller. The Liquor store was busy for a tiny closet liquor shop and the line to check out was slow. With two cashiers, I still waited 15 minutes to check out. Kudos for having a vendor set up at the front of the shop. read more

Ask the prices before you buy. No prices listed on the bottles in the shelf behind the counter. I asked what a bottle cost and the guy wasn't very friendly and looked it up. I asked if I could see the bottle and he asked why. Really? He told me the price was $1200. Holly cow. Secondary prices and then some. My friends and I were in Savannah for a bachelorette trip and needed to stock up at a liquor store. We are SO happy we found ourselves at River Street Liquor. They had an amazing selection (even real lemons and limes) and Kimberly was so incredibly helpful. There are many places on "the strip" that claim to offer the cheapest drinks, but how do you do better than an actual liquor store? You don't. We were drawn in by the promise of $2 Fireball shots (because, occasionally, I have the same drinking preferences as a 20 year old sorority girl...) but ended up getting some cans of IPA to go as well! In regards to convenience this place is A #1. Stopped here just about every night for beer/wine on my trip. They also sell cigars but seem to be at a bit of a premium. (Nothing really under $10). Really close to homewood suites and other hotels. The 6 packs of the craft stuff were $12.75 and domestics were close to $10. They had individual cans too for ~$3-$4. They also had liquor with tons of different nippers 50ml shots. Liquor laws are obviously different down here but was stuffing to find a place close to my hotel for a reasonable priced craft 6 pack of beer. read more

Had the extreme pleasure of visiting Savannah Georgia this weekend. Met so many friendly people throughout the city and they were all so helpful with locating our destinations. Until we entered the River Street Liquor Store. We purchased a bottle of liquor that seemed over priced. (no receipt was given and we forgot to ask). When we returned to just ask if the price was correct because it seemed higher than normal, we were given a very sarcastic response. We were told this was the price (there were no prices posted at the time of purchase and yes we could have asked at time of purchase) and asked nicely to return it. We were told that we could not return it and that we were "stupid" because we know how much we paid. Sadly this was the first constipated person we have met in Georgia. It's such a great city with so many great places to purchase whatever beverage you want. With a smile. Defnitely put a damper on the end of our weekend. I certainly don't recommend this store to anyone when there are so many others in Savannah that greet you with a giant smile and offer their help to ensure your visit is the best. This store does not employ people that contribute to the tourist economy of Savannah!!!!! read more

Dude behind the counter (forgot your name, sorry man) was a total southern gentleman, and chopped it up w me and my sis after a long day out at Tybee Island (swimming w dolphins! What!? Yes.). It's a teeny, tiny spot, FYI and most liquor stores close early, like, before 11pm, so, Google or Yelp that ish, OK? DO YOUR HOMEWORK before the sun goes down if you're tryna keep the party going past 1a.m. But on the note of it being small, it sells only alcoholic drinks. NOT mixers, so hit up a CVS or 24-hr fast-food if you get desperate. Have fun! read more

Seems like the reviews failed to reflect our experience. The guy behind the counter was nasty and was incredibly rude from the moment we walked in. I was with my parents. We were walking around with a beer (open container allowed) and he got up like he wanted to fight us and yelled at us to go outside. My mom took the beer and waited outside. Mind you we were not intoxicated at all. A 12 pack of corona was $24 and he made us present all 3 IDs when my mother who is 60 was outside with the said open container. Ridiculous prices. We asked for a bag and he said "Sir you do not need one." I have never been treated so horribly. Hope you go out of business. read more

Bourbon gouging at its finest. Went in expecting secondary but these prices were just hilariously bad. Anybody wondering, EH Taylor Small Batch=400... so twice secondary value. Cashier was very nice about it and of course she doesn't control that but I mean really why even put the bottles out at that point if you're not serious about selling them. Holla... probably the most complete selection of bourbon that I found in these joints. I wanted to try that Georgia peach infused bourbon, but didn't want to commit to a bottle without trying it. Hopefully a bar near by would start carrying it. A variety of hard liquor, wines (including a Georgia peach) and beers to go (just get a cup and walk around with it.) After stumbling down the labyrinth of stairs/cobble stones/horse poop, we came to River Street. It was a fun trip down, except a friends iPhone dropped so our GPS coordinates were thrown off. Naturally I take my pocket knife out of my bag and into my pocket, Scouts Honor "always be prepared". Barking cobble stones will not stop us! We find a light from a door on a dark street...and it's liquor. Mission accomplished. The kid at the counter looks confused, which is kinda cute considering we're all friendly, jolly and Caucasian. Very pricey but that was expected for the convenience of the location for tourists. The man working there was so witty and friendly. Walked into this shop thinking it was a LOT bigger than it actually is, seriously, it's the size of a closet. Not to worry though, they still have a pretty big selection of items & the dude behind the counter is pretty chatty. Buy any of the SUPER expensive items off the top shelf & he'll be promoted to manager. At least that's his spiel, maybe he'd be better working as a carny. Anyway, if you don't mind heading ALL the way down River Street into the dark & creepy area, this place is open til around midnight & a quick easy place to grab a whino-sized bottle of booze on your way back to the motel for the night ;) read more

Fantastic selection and prices! This newly-opened liquor store is convenient, and even though it's small it has EVERYTHING you could possibly want; including premium liquors such as Hendrix gin, Belvedere vodka, chilled Jaeger... I even saw a bottle of Dom! The pricing is totally reasonable, too - no "tourist prices" here (as a local that's almost as refreshing as the booze). Friendly and knowledgeable staff. This is definitely the place to stop for a couple bottles to bring home after a day on River Street. Cold beer and mixers as well - you' can pick up the full party here. They're even open Sundays! Worst beer buying experience in my 51 years. We went there because they are the only place selling singles or six packs to take back to your room in this area. The girl tells us she has 6 packs starting at $10 and names off several beers they have. Then she tells me only two brands of 6 packs are for sale, the rest is her private stock stock and not for sale. WTF? We've never heard such a thing in any state, city, or country we've visited. Definitely won't be back to this hole. We'll be bringing our own beer to Savannah from now on. read more
