This place sure fit the bill! By being right in the complex Whitemud Crossing which is on two of the cities busiest roads; the Mud and Calgary Trail. There is quite a few staff that provides a variety of services and it is quite easy to get an appointment; especially last minute, which with Chiro is often the case! It's not my first or best choice, but in a pinch (pun oh so totally intended) they most certainly do the trick!

The company has changed their online booking and computer system three or four times now resulting in me having to fill out paperwork every single time I've showed up for treatment. my daughter was apparently the primary member of the account and when I had to book appointments it would show her as the patient causing confusion. my daughter and I booked a massage together a phone call that day that there was nobody to give my daughter a massage. In my mind our time should be just as valuable as their time, if this happens you should be offered some form of compensation or additional massage time similar to when you don't show up or cancel, they bill you for it. This week my daughter and I again booked a massage, we both didn't get the massage therapists we requested and again filling out the paperwork requested yet again, I had stressed that my shoulder was being problematic and I was looking for some type of deep tissue massage to relieve the tension surrounding my shoulder joint, again I mentioned it before my massage began to the massage therapist, the result was a full body massage with not a single hint of emphasis on my shoulder. I was dumbfounded when she said the massage was over and she would wait for me outside before getting up and walking out, how do you request it on paperwork and vocally and they simply ignore the area needing attention.. Just goes to show the paperwork is just there to cover legalities and not assist the patient. Very disappointed and it seems to be common for me, hopefully others have better luck here; on a different note, the chiropractor is very very good I find.

I really love Integrated Therapies. I was a bit apprehensive at first because looking on the…read morewebsite they seemed to offer lots of holistic treatments which I wasn't familiar with. I was having a lot of all over pain and had been referred for lymphatic drainage which my regular massage therapist didn't do (and which sounded very strange and terrifying, I was imagining a mad scientist lab and tubes to drain out lymphatic fluid, eek! It's actually just a gentle massage, no literal draining involved.) I ended up booking with Anne as she does the lymphatic drainage as well as several other therapies. The clinic is located in a cute little house on the corner of 101 St and 80th Avenue. As soon as I walked in I was struck by the utter peace and tranquility of the place. It was so quiet compared to the chaos outside and I could happily have dozed off just sitting on the sofa in the waiting area. My massage therapist, Anne, is just lovely. I was half expecting someone very spiritual, wearing flowing robes and waving incence (because I'm ridiculous like that) but she is a very charming and practical German lady with additional qualifications in physiotherapy. One of the first things she said to me was "sit up straight, you'll feel better if you're not slouching all the time." It's true, I do!! Before we started our treatment she did an assessment of my body and biomechanics (I've always experienced this as more of a physio thing) and based on that she decided that rather than do lymphatic drainage we should change our focus and try Bowen therapy instead. This involves sort of tweaking/moving all the muscles in the body. It's very non-invasive and didn't hurt at all and I walked out feeling much better! I really like that Anne has a lot of experience with different types of therapy and she can customize and incorporate different techniques into my treatments. She also gave me a thorough treatment plan with different recommendations for exercises, videos, a stability cushion for my work chair, and orthotics. So far everything has worked and Anne is now my regular massage therapist. I can't recommend Integrated Therapies enough!

Can you imagine what an exorcism feels like?…read more I dunno but it must be similar to the feeling you get when the aches, pains, and stiffness have been liberated from your body by Dr. Thor Gilbertson after an adjustment. I would call him The Mighty Thor even if Marvel hadn't already published a comic book of the same name. My wife was seeing The Mighty One for dry needling (IMS, that is - not needling as in teasing - I think) so I decided to go in for said adjustment as I thought it would be a better use of my time than reading People magazine in the reception area. I'm also a glutton for pain. (Not that a chiropractic adjustment is painful. More on that later.) It's my attraction to pain that forces me to sleep in the trunk of my car on my belly with a spare tire for a blanket. So needless to say, after a few months of this I needed to be un-pretzled. (I never know how bad it truly was until after I see the doc.) Dr. Gilbertson is witty, personable, and likes hockey. He totally places you at ease while he's snapping your neck. And no, it doesn't hurt. His admin person, Natasha, is also totally friendly and charming. She makes me feel a little bad that I'll never truly be that outgoing and captivating. All in all, a visit to Dr. Gilbertson's office could be the feel-good day of anyone's week. For the past few days I've been running backwards into walls just to give myself a legit reason to go back there. He does more than just adjustments and dry needling. He also does active release therapy and something called radial shockwave therapy. I'm not sure what that is but I picture it involving an Electric Chair. I'll look for one next time I'm there. In the meantime, I have walls to bang into and trunks to sleep in.

When I called to make an appointment, I was able to get one within a few days. The office is in Callingwood Market so free parking. Natasha is the woman that answers the phone, greets visitors, processes payments, and everything else. Every time I was there, she was always so pleasant even though she's busy. They also do direct billing with insurance companies. The first time I saw Dr. Gilbertson, he asked me about what was going on and I told him my issue. He used needles on my back and bottom. I'm used to acupuncture needles so I wasn't nervous or concerned of the process. I also read about IMS before the visit. He also said chiropractic treatment would not help me at this point and may even make it worse. I went a few more times and he put the needles in my leg as well and one time I felt it woke up my leg down to my foot! After my last visit, Dr. Gilbertson asked me if I felt better after the treatments and I did but it was temporary and didn't last long. This is where I felt Dr. Gilbertson cares about people first and patients second. He advised me what he thought I should do and told me if I wanted acupuncture in the future to go back. But he did not tell me keep coming back because he wanted my $85/treatment. I felt he genuinely cared about my well being even if that meant not seeing me again. He is a good and busy professional as there's a steady stream of patients coming in and going out. With so many health professionals, only wish we had more like Dr. Gilbertson around.
