What great and friendly practice. They are very diligent in sharing the cost upfront and telling you what they are going to do. The place is meticulously clean and uses all modern equipment. I needed 2 crowns and Dr. Bevans and Bailey took such good care of me and spent a lot of time making sure that everything was just right, you see I'm an uncomfortable patient and they made me feel right at home and checked on me during the whole procedure. He had a great way with the needle (a big deal in my book) and they were both a pleasure to work with...Had a surprise cavity in my wisdom tooth and they took care of it right there. On 8/29/23 I paid Riverbend Family Dentistry $751.00 personal check for services rendered. Shannon the office manager did not want to bill my insurance. She said she didn't think they would get paid. On 9/5/23 I paid $336.00 personal check for another procedure. Shannon submitted the claim to Aetna. Upon checking to see where my reimbursement from Aetna was they informed me they had mailed the checks to Riverbend office. Both checks were deposited and had cleared. I called Riverbend and asked them to send me a check for $1087.00. Shannon informed me only their HR can cut checks and they were located in Texas. Finally Shannon informed me she had gotten an email from their HR and the check was mailed on 9/29/23. As of 10/06/23 I have not received my money back from them. I really love that they text to communicate as it makes things a lot easier especially if you need to provide a copy of your insurance card. The have a strict procedure in place due COVID-19 they have you wait in your car till they are ready for you. Once you enter they will take your temperature and you go straight back. Hey man, Dr. Mautner has some real awesome tech at his disposal, including supplementary materials for dental procedures and the skills necessary to operate the equipment. The staff at this establishment only seem to look for ways to help people's lives improve. They go over all the steps and reasons for their actions. They went over with me the ways smoking and irregular brushing and general unsatisfactory dental hygiene can damage my gums. While I was already aware of the ways I can save or damage my teeth, he and the staff were able to directly point to me the damage I had done in the past. Lucky for me, I didn't need to have anything replaced, just a few things removed (calculus build up between my teeth not usually removed through standard cleaning). An Unacceptable Experience at Riverbend Family Dentistry A member of my family recently visited RFD for a routine cleaning.  The patient had made an informed personal medical decision to decline the X-rays.  Explaining they were paying out-of-pocket and not wanting to spend the extra cash.  The hygienist quite rudely berated the patient (while captive in the chair) and promptly excused the patient prior to seeing the doctor. We called and spoke to the office manager challenging this experience.  She said the doctor only sees a patient once a year.  We reminded her that it's been about a year since the last visit and her website clearly states that you can expect a full oral screening from the doctor with every cleaning.  She said that's only for the first preliminary visit.  When told she was mistaken, she back peddled and said the 50 dollar x-ray fee was a doctor visit fee and the X-rays were free.  When asked where THAT policy is posted - she replied "We don't post our prices." To her credit as the conversation progressed our tone became angry.  She stayed calm and courteous.  She said she would discuss the "miscommunication" with the hygienist.  When reminded that there was no miscommunication and the hygienist knew exactly what she was doing - she calmly agreed that we were right.  When asked if the hygienist was compensated as a percentage of services rendered (as many are) she emphatically claimed they were not, and offered a "complimentary" followup visit to see the doctor - an odd choice of words when the patient was denied what was to have been included in the cleaning fee. I was visiting in Binghamton, NY from Washington, DC last week and had an unfortunate issue with my crown falling out. I called several dentists to see if one could see me on short notice. Fortunately, Riverbend Family Dental returned my call and was able to see me the next day. I met with Dr. Benware and could not be happier with my experience. My visit was painless and Dr. Benware was able to cement the crown back in without any problems. The dental assistant also pointed out that I had a filling missing. This office is amazing! So friendly and welcoming and did a great job of cleaning and fixing my broken tooth. I've never had such a comfortable injection in fact I didn't even feel it. In the area on vacation and I was able to get a same day appointment for a broken tooth. Judy met me with an introduction and a smile at reception. Kelly introduced herself and set me up in the chair, she explained everything she was doing as she did it. Dr Mautner introduced himself and let me know what he was doing and what to expect. Excellent appointment,very thoroughly explained the entire procedure and showed great concern for my comfort. At checkout I was given X-rays and a photo to provide to my home dentist. This dentist and his staff are geniunely kind, caring, and considerate people. Judy, the secretary is so helpful and is always smiling. Judy helps squeeze me in for a last minute cleaning when feasible. She is very familiar with insurance policies and answers questions promptly. Dr Mautner is a talented, professional, caring, honest, sweet, and intelligent dentist. He always listens to my concerns as a patient. He is passionate about his profession. This is by far the best dentist and staff that I have ever had. I am extremely impressed by their etiquette and professionalism. I like that everyone speaks clear english, not a foreign language.
