We made a same-day booking and called shortly after 9pm after we got out of the mountains -- well within their posted office hours (open until 10pm)--to confirm if we could check in after hours. No one answered despite multiple calls. We left a voicemail, and instead of any apology, we were told next day they "couldn't understand the message" and blamed us for not being clear enough. As they posted multiple, conflicting instructions, how were we supposed to know which rules to follow? When no one even bothered to pick up the phone or return a call for a simple explanation of the rules? And blaming customers for having bad reception in voicemail? We were left completely in the dark, unsure if we'd be able to check in at all. We booked here hoping to support a local business, but were met with poor communication, a lack of basic courtesy, and ZERO accountability. Extremely disappointing, and we would not recommend staying here. read more

Sadly, our grandson got sick and we had to cancel our planned trip to the area over Christmas for our Polar Express adventure, as we did not think it prudent to carry more germs to folks. Since our grandson was still running a fever, we knew he was still contagious. Unfortunately, this establishment still charged us. When I called to cancel I was told we'd be charged anyway. Then I was told it could be turned into a credit, which i would have gladly taken, as we plan a redo for next year. But then I'm told credit only if I purchase 2 nights..so essentially an upcharge. read more

If you have kids, you need to stay here. This hotel was the highlight of my kids (and also our) trip to the Smokey's. I think we actually might have seen more of the Smokey's if we could have pried our boys away from the river here... this is a charming 9 room motel, right on the river, with outdoor grills and tables so you feel like you rented a cabin. The owners lent us a pair of fishing poles and our boys were hooked. They fished day and night - and even got up early (they are 6 and 8) and fished in their underwear. For grown ups who might not want to fish in their underwear, this is a lovely place to wake up in. It's right around the corner from "downtown" Bryson City, but nice to make yourself at home here - There's a coffee maker, microwave, and fridge in the room - and you can grill whatever your kids caught outside for dinner! We also enjoyed getting to know the other guests as everyone seemed to sit outside with a beer or a cup of coffee on the deck. Highly recommend! We all miss the Riverbend already. read more

We were looking for a comfortable perch for a few days of hiking and tubing with our teenage son and Room 1 gave us all a bit if privacy. Convenient to town with many dining options. Only drawback is proximity to Rt 19 but did not bother us. Very tranquil by the river. read more

There's something so sweet about this homey motel right on the Tuskegee River. Literally the river is right outside your window and steps from your door. So peaceful to enjoy from the provided tables and chairs. Everything is sparkling clean. I needed to work while in Bryson City and the WiFi was great. I enjoyed walking into town for morning coffee. It is a busy road so that walk might not suit everyone. read more

We came across this place by accident. We had 3 couples who stayed two nights. So glad we did and we will stay here again. Rooms are the cleanest I've ever seen in any hotel!! Nice size refrigerators, microwaves, and plenty of room in the rooms. The owners are extremely nice and actually sat outside on the riverfront with us visiting. We just recently came back from our vacation, and we just loved staying at this motel. The rooms have been recently updated, and make you feel right at home. We were able to open the window at night to hear the river as it went past outside. The room was very roomy, and comfortable, and the appliances were all clean and in working order. My husband tried to do some fishing, but didn't catch anything, and we were able to sit outside, and enjoy the quiet and the clean mountain air. It is very close to the train depot for the Great Smokey Mountain railway, and very easy to go for a drive into the Cherokee Reservation, as well as the Smokey Mountain National Park. I don't have any photos, but I saw a recent previous entry of someone else's comment where they had a photo of the same room we stayed in, and it is accurate. My husband and I went to Bryson City, NC for our 1st anniversary. We took a train ride and stayed at Riverbend Lodging in room 10. It was very clean and looked newly renovated. The owner was very pleasant. As a matter of fact, he came out as we were leaving. I mentioned I had lost a diamond earring, if they happened to find it. He called within a few hours and said he had found my earring and would mail it to me. That's great customer service! read more

Boyfriend and I decided to book a last minute LDW getaway to the mountains, and stumbled upon Riverbend Lodging in our search. It was perfect! To be honest, I was nervous about our impending stay after reading reviews on other sites (aka Trip Advisor). But after our stay, I can't help but wonder what these people were expecting when they booked the place! The River View King was great - nicely sized, clean, and even came with a reclining chair and dining table. We arrived later in the day on Saturday, and people were sitting outside, grilling, relaxing and watching the river. They have several chairs, tables, and grills set out back, so it's perfect for coming back from a strenuous day of hiking! There's even an Ingles across the street, and a super saver store steps away for last minute supplies. The location of Riverbend is perfect! Cherokee and Gatlinburg are full of tourists, but Bryson City is and authentic mountain town. The motel is a short walk (10 mins) or drive to downtown Bryson City, and there are several options for food, drink, and night time activities. We loved Mountain Perks in the morning and Nantahala Brewing in the night. All in all, give Riverbend a chance. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely stay there again. read more

This is a simple, clean and reasonably priced place to stay right on the river. The owner got his four stars when he thoughtfully brought out a kick stand pad for my motorcycle and a rag to wipe it clean in the morning. Nice deck out back to watch the river and fireflies. Fabulous location on the river. We really enjoyed sitting out back by the water at the end of the evening, and my partner had a good time fishing right off the back of the motel after a day of wandering through Bryson City. The motel is a motel, make no mistake. Nothing fancy, but it is clean, has a great view of the river, and the back deck with plenty of chairs and tables set up was a treat. There are several charcoal grills set up as well if you'd like to cook out by the water. (Next time....) About 5 minutes away from town. I'd checked prices at a couple of the motels, and the small in-town motels (not on the water) were quoting about $55/night for a king room. Riverbend was $69/night for the king waterfront. Very, very reasonable, safe, and clean. Highly recommended for anyone not needing luxury accomodations. read more

My husband and I stayed in room 4 on May 29-30th 2015. This hotel is absolutely GREAT! It is very clean and has a beautiful view of the river. The only thing would be maybe a little noise from traffic but not enough to worry about. We would and will stay here again. read more
