Just up the hill from Swords Rimrock Park, along a one-lane unpaved road, is the Yellowstone Kelly…read moregrave and the site dedicated to this Civil War veteran, scout, hunter, trader who was friends with some notable people of his time. It's a strange place for a grave for someone eligible to be buried in Arlington, but according to the writings about him available at this center, he wanted to be buried where he had his "greatest adventures" and so Montana, high on the Rims overlooking the Yellowstone Valley, it was. The view from here is spectacular. It's also very quiet. There are some easy, paved paths winding near the markers describing the life of Yellowstone Kelly. There's a paved parking lot, if you choose to make the drive here, but it's also accessible from the Heritage Trail path coming from MetraPark for those who prefer hiking, walking, or biking. If learning about historical figures who helped make Billings is on a must-do list, then make the hike. If that's not your style, it's also a nice pause on your walk or run along the trail.

The photos on their website make it look like it's a well lit casino with an entire wall length of slots or progressives but it's a larger spaced version of the tiny dark neighborhood pub/casinos that are all over Billings. The photos taken were all done during the day with all their lights on so it's deceiving. The people are nice and the one girl working tonight was overwhelmed as she was doing the change, the tables, the drinks and the snacks by herself . I know they have a second casino nearby and was wondering if it's worth checking out . I so miss my vegas casinos and it was probably wrong to come in here tonight with that expectation

The family definitely left a mark in Billings, although they weren't originally from Montana, their mansion design, architecture, and layout, was created through the use of a combination of studies within different cultures. That's present in the woodwork, tapestries, artwork on the wall and so much more. It's a work of art in itself, a beautifully executed masterpiece. When you walk through, you can somewhat imagine what it must have looked like then, without asphalt streets and driveways- staff were also really sweet and shared more stories during the walk through as well. Before Lewis and Clark, fur traders, gold hunters, and homesteaders, the land that would become Montana was home to several Indigenous tribes, each with its own traditions, cultures, stories, religions, languages, and histories. We visited Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, Custer's Last Stand from 1876. This was an Indian victory and an Army defeat here. The Buffalo Jump State Park is where tribes chased herds over the edge of a cliff as a mass hunting technique. The Museum of the Plains Indian preserved thousands of artifacts; clothes, weapons, household items ... In 1854, North America's first dinosaur remains were found in Montana . Since, 75 other dinosaur species , more than any other state, have been discovered here, the oldest dating back 155 million years. Montana is a ranching & rodeo state. "A River Runs Through It" highlights fly fishing here. Tourism brings $750 million annually here. Montana has 32 million acres of public lands with more hiking trails than any other state. Monty is an outdoor paradise!

SNOW! we stayed at our WorldMark timeshare in West Yellowstone but the closest entrance to Yellowstone National Park was closed for the season. The only entrance was through the North Entrance which was some 3-1/2 hours drive from the West Entrance. The drive through Montana was scenic and beautiful though. July 2021 we visited three National Parks in neighboring states MT and WY. One of them was Glacier National Park at West Glacier. This park is a year-round paradise with alpine scenery and deep valleys. At the time of our vacation we had to go online and purchase an Entry Reservation Ticket to be able to enter and tour the "Going-to-the-Sun Road" route. Hubby booked this tour weeks early and we were lucky to get in. Other cars were turned away -- no ticket. In mid-July there were still melting ice in high elevation areas which resulted in many scenic waterfalls along the way including a roadside Weeping Wall. This park is H-U-G-E and the Going-to-the-Sun Road runs through the heart of Glacier National Park... we stopped at landmarks and turnouts and enjoyed views of massive U-shaped valleys. We love our National Parks but I told my hubby not to plan 3 parks in one trip! He thinks we're still young! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ When visiting Glacier National Park you are close to the Canadian Border. You can cross the border and check out Waterton Lakes National Park on the Canada side. Um, but please bring your U.S. Passport... your National Parks passport will not work. LoL! FOOD! Aside from the beautiful mountain ranges, prairie terrain and badlands... Montana is a meat-lovers heaven! Buffalo burgers, bison sausage patties, 9-oz hamburger steaks... and for dessert -- moose tracks ice cream! We enjoyed shopping, dining and lodging at Downtown Bozeman. The had a small area with children's art which I loved, as I got hooked on art while young. They have an artist in residence program - very cool. It's In another small building behind the main building. There was an artist, with her installation, available while I was there. Easy walk from downtown hotel but I saw ample parking. The had a piece by Alexander Upshaw 2023. In the text regarding the tribal regalia- they state for the photos (long ago) he used "costumes" You have to be careful with the word costumes. If the pieces are from their regalia you don't use "costumes". Costumes are for dressing up for Halloween. I think the text was saying the photographer took a native Americans from a tribe and dressed them in regalia which actually belong to a variety of tribal nations. An education explanation should be included here. Consult your local tribes so it's proper. Adornment is of if talking about a necklace, dress which is used for everyday wear.
