The trip was intended to be a relaxing family reunion and a celebration of my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary. Initially, the cabin was satisfactory, aside from some minor cosmetic issues. However, our stay quickly took a turn for the worse. On the second day, we began hearing noises in the ceiling, which we assumed were raccoons. As the weekend progressed, the sounds intensified, with the raccoons scratching and scurrying about the living room ceiling. I was unable to sleep during the last two nights due to the noise and my fear of raccoons. The final night was the most terrifying, as the raccoons had climbed into the closet with the heater and were hissing and attempting to escape. There were at least three raccoons in the closet and two more above our heads in the vent. I was overwhelmed with fear and stayed awake all night, watching the bedroom door. Fortunately, we departed the following morning, and none of us were injured or bitten by the raccoons. My sister-in-law has been attempting to obtain a refund for our distressing experience. However, Pine Lake Resorts has refused to take responsibility for the pest infestation and safety concerns on their property. It is unacceptable that guests should be expected to deal with such issues, and I hope that the management will take necessary steps to address this problem.

We went camping this last weekend (the first weekend in May) and had a blast at Beaver's Bend park…read more Almost everything about the park was perfect... It was a gorgeous area, cheap to stay overnight in their (not so) primitive camping area, lots of wildlife and hiking trails. The only problem was that almost EVERY campsite was taken. We had to drive around several times to find one on a friday afternoon, and the attendant at the front desk had no idea how full the park was (?). My advice would be to get to the park early on a Friday if you're staying over the weekend, or else go on a weekday when it'll be empty. Other than that it's a beautiful park for a weekend getaway. Also beware of the warning siren that goes off when the dam is opening - it's very loud and unpredictable, and sometimes goes off in the middle of the night. It's not so bad if you know to expect it.

We loved our time in this cabin (Kindled Pines, previously known as Barely Camping). It was clean,…read morecomfortable, and very well-stocked. All we needed to bring was our own food. The cabin had toiletries, plenty of towels, trash bags, cookware, etc. The owners were responsive when contacted. The only thing some people might or might not like is the location. It's within easy walking distance of a few shops and restaurants, and the road is paved until you turn into the cabin driveway. That was a postive for us. But some people might not like the fact that there was the sound of cars driving by, and in the evenings there was live music at a bar that could be heard from our cabin. We didn't mind it but some might. A few years ago we stayed at a different cabin (Oh, Dear), which was much quieter but was down an unacceptably rough, unpaved road with large holes in it. We were happy to trade easier access and no worries about damaging our car for a bit less quiet. And to be fair, maybe they've fixed the other road by now, I don't know. We didn't want to risk it.

I decided to rent from Blue Beaver again since they've never let me down. I can't necessarily say that this time. I rented one of the biggest cabins on their website. We went to the beautiful Steinmore. This cabin is very impressive and has plenty of space for everyone. The rooms are decorated nicely, and all the amenities were thought of. My biggest letdown was the beds in the 2 master rooms downstairs. The beds are not of the highest quality and do not have box springs. The beds sit VERY low for the group and make it very difficult to get in and out of. I am 6ft, 230 lbs., and felt like I was sinking into the bed and rolling back toward the headboard. My daughter and her husband slept in the master closet to the kitchen, and they too did not sleep well. The mattresses were not the issue, it was the fact that the mattresses are sitting on planks. Other things that were bothersome are small details and have to do with expectations. * Dusty blinds * Smears on walls * Trashcan was not empty upon arrival * The walls behind the trashcans were dirty * The trash bin drawer was filthy around the lip of the can * Comforters and throw pillows in bedrooms were stained * Only two trash bags were left for a family of 15 for the whole weekend * Christmas plates and décor on the table were dusty- Probably pulled from the storage and set right onto the table * Glasses were greasy and many needed to be rewashed before using These are all small details that will make this cabin more awesome than it was. When you pay almost $3k for a weekend you would expect perfection.

Our issue was at the very beginning and the older lady that has to be the manager/owner. I came over the hill faster than I should have, noted, my mIstake, absolutely noted, my passengers let me know before she even arrived. But once she did arrive ay my door and the power trip began. I immediately expressed knowledge that I knew what I did and apologized. But she continued to stand there and reprimand me like a child for four more go through what had happened. I had to turn away from her to stop. It was a crazy event. I'm a grown women w adult children I just needed a firm reminder and a walk away would have worked much better. Then the mad eye contact she was giving me later in the store was crazy too. Maybe a bad day for her which absolutely happens. But perhaps a slow Sign or a speed limit sign or simply better signage out front might be helpful. I was bringing a party of 16 in and we all had trouble locating the place on maps. Perhaps she should start there to get her guest to the location successful.
