I love the location, abundant free parking, plenty of fabulous restaurants within a block or two, easy in and easy out every time. I know if I have tickets to a show at proctors, it's going to be a great evening. I average about 4 shows a year if I can. I love the selection of musicals and plays they host. There is truly nothing like live entertainment. The reason why this is my favorite theatre in the area is the general etiquette of the crowd. Once a show is on, the crowd is quiet, most stay seated until intermission, there are no concessions while the show is going, the ushers do their job to control people coming in and out during the performance. The theatre is gorgeous and you are truly able to enjoy the show in this environment. I really love it here. Service is always amazing as well. Everyone working here is always so friendly and helpful. It's just such a good vibe. Could the seats be more comfy? Yes, but that's literally every theatre. I would love a cup holder too, but that's life. My only grief is that I can't afford more tickets to go to more shows. I love Proctors, and you will too.

The voices of the performers were among the best I've ever heard, especially those in the lead roles. The audience members were very friendly. As we arrived at the theater, some struck up conversations with us. Afterwards, a small group visiting from the Finger lakes stopped my friend and I as we were leaving the theater to tell us that the version of Wicked we just saw at Proctor's was every bit as good as what they saw on Broadway. I don't doubt that. I think the group was excited and just wanted to share their enthusiasm. It was a great evening. The decor is beautiful. The seats are comfy. The staff is very nice and so helpful. It's awesome to see such high quality performances without having to travel far.

The improv actors were funny and creative. The story lines were interesting... even more so because they were based on audience suggestions. Several of the improv artists were strong singers which made certain songs especially entertaining. The second time we went was for the New Year's Eve Family show at 7 pm. We took our 12 year old granddaughter. Good family fun with lots of laughs. Nice job to all. Prices are affordable. The cookies from the snack "bar" were excellent and a nice treat to accompany the show.

It is a small maybe 100 seats or so, elevated comfortable cushioned modern theater with no obstructed views. There was also an entrance area that sold wine, beer, coffee and cake before the show and at intermission. The show lasted about 1hr 15 min with a 15 minute intermission. I personally thought it was an enjoyable evening for a small town theater.

The theater itself is housed in an old synagogue. I hadn't been to a play here, however, in a few years until the other night. I'm a big fan of French cabaret musicians like Jacques Brel and was quite excited to see that SLOC was doing the musical revue, "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris." The show was set up cabaret-style, with tables instead of theater seats and a little fruit-and-cheese platter for each table. Each ticket was redeemable for a glass of wine or soda too, which I thought was kind of cute. The production was good, but it wasn't great. The acting and music was done well, but I thought it should have been a larger cast to really create a fuller, more theatrical sound. Still, it was an enjoyable night out and I'm happy to see local theater being kept alive. I'd like to see some more younger people in the audience though - I'd hate to think such a great tradition will die out with our elders. Prices for shows at SLOC are, of course, much lower than, say, Proctors, but they're also lower than some of the other local theater companies. They also do a lot of kids' programming, which is a nice way to get the youngsters into it. I'm subtracting a star for the crappy parking lot.

As a plus sized woman, I find the seats to be very roomy and comfortable. The seats were very cushy and supportive and there was a ton of leg room. I'll go to more shows based on this alone. I think my issue is comparing this theatre to Proctors, which is a very different vibe. The Palace offers more lively shows with less of a strict seating policy. People are often up and down in their seats, there is often a lot of chatter in the crowd; and I think this threw me off my first visit, as I am used to being quiet and still in my seat until intermission. Parking is pretty easy with multiple options locally, as well as abundant street parking. Concessions were very pricy. The bathrooms are in the basement if you are on the main level, so that's a bit of a pain. I won't hesitate to book another show here!

From partnering with local youth choirs and dance companies to featuring highly accomplished soloists this orchestra is delightful. They perform at Proctor's Theater on Sunday afternoons at 3 p.m. during their season. They also have special events and performances throughout the year. If one becomes a member by purchasing season tickets (four concerts) a reduced rate of $7.50 per ticket applies. One also recieves an invitation to many special events. Including orchestra talks with the conductor and members of the orchestra, special dining events and post-concert receptions. Today's concert was thrilling with a Tchaikowsky symphony. Partner a concert with dinner at the Parker Inn or gelato at Villa Italia or any of the other restaurants in the downtown Schenectady area.
