We recently attended a…read moremusical performance in the theater and the acoustics in the venue are great, the common areas are bright and clean, and the ticketing/arrival process was seamless and easy. The Massry has teamed up with Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for their scheduling/ticketing this season and the line-up they are presenting is a wonderful, diverse selection of music. I am looking forward to attending future performances at this venue and seeing what direction they move to with their programming. With a number of bars and restaurants within walking distance, it's easy to make seeing a performance at the Massry into a true evening out.

Quick to help, or suggest, or explain, all within Covid restrictions, the atmosphere is truly a casual night out with friends hat will stay with you a long time.

As I was heading home, I passed the theater and saw on the marquee Mad Max was starting in ten minutes. Not the new Mad Max mind you, the original. Movies are meant to be seen on the big screen. Some are fine at home, but I don't have a man cave and I don't turn the sound up loud. Going into a theater is an immersive experience and really helps you to focus on the picture. Amazingly, even on a Saturday night, including myself there were only three people in the audience. And for a moment there I thought I was going to have a private showing. Part of that may be that despite the sign suggesting a 9:30 start time, the box office looked closed. And when I tried to suggest to the lady behind the concession stand that I'd like to see a movie, she didn't quite seem prepared to sell me a ticket. And when I asked where to head from there, she had to once again leave to find out. It was really quite odd. Also odd were the ratting and banging noises coming from the air conditioning grates in the ceiling of theater four. Once the action picked up, it wasn't quite as distracting as I had feared, but I hope they get it fixed. Much like I hope they get the theater cleanliness fixed. Because there was an empty soda can in the arm rest left over from a prior showing. Like I said, none of these things will prevent me from going back. I love seeing older movies on the big screen. But it could explain why the place wasn't more busy. I'll look forward to awarding this theater a fifth star as it grows and becomes a vital part of the community.

For the $75 price tag I would have expected it to be much better than the Field of Horrors Haunted…read moreHouse Experience we went to in Troy, NY, but it was not. First thing to point out is you need to arrive early as possible because the lines get crazy long. Luckily for us we already purchased our tickets online and were able to get in line right away. Secondly, if you need to use the restroom or do anything else, be sure to do that before you wait in line for the hayride. There is no stopping once you get in line for the hayride and once you get off the hayride you have to go through all the haunted houses back-to-back. When you get in line, they corral the groups into what looks like a large steer pen until its that groups time to get on the hayride. It's about a 15-minute ride through the woods - you experience several scare zones, and gory scenes. There are a handful characters like Michael Myers that run out and climb on the back of the wagon trying to scare guests, which is more fun than actually scarry. Once the ride comes to a halt guests once again line up to go through all the haunted houses. The haunted houses were hit and miss. Some were better than others and all the staff in the houses did a decent job. We had a run-in with one security guy that was just a complete jerk and threatened to kick us out for trying to take a picture with a character stating that we touched them when we did not, the character actually grabbed on to us, so WTF! Once through the haunted houses there's not much left to do but walk around, grab a bite to eat and something to drink. It was a little expensive but decided to get a few hot dogs, Snapple ice teas, and some other light snacks; roughly $40 for this. The characters walking around and doing photo ops in this area were great and their costumes were also very good. They stayed in character the whole time we were at the park so this made for a spirited evening. My biggest complaint is there is not enough Porto-lets available or seating near the vendors for the sheer number of guests attending. They literally had 4-5 stalls available for the thousands that can potentially visit here nightly. Also, staff were not stocking the stalls with toilet paper. There were a lot of unhappy Ladies here that night.

There is PLENTY of standing room (and dancing/moshing room :) ) and also a line of auditorium-type seating raised along the back wall near the sound booth. (This raised seating area is great for photo/video taking, IMHO.) The stage is low and close to the crowd, without barricades, which lends to the intimacy. Was concerned about it being too cold in the winter months, but heat was working just fine. There were some coat racks available, too. The bar prices were reasonable, with a nice selection of tap and cans, and seltzers and other options available for the non-beer drinkers among us. Sodas and non-alcoholic options were also on the menu. The staff at the Hangar was pleasant and helpful, through and through and the sound was good throughout all bands. We parked a couple of blocks up the street; parking at the venue is limited, but finding parking in Troy is rarely an issue.

There's a bar that's stocked with a variety of beers, ales, hard seltzer and even hard teas. The staff is friendly and courteous. The bathrooms are fairly clean. I showed up recently for the performance of a Metallica tribute band called Hardwired. They were very good. The music was very loud. It was fun. It was a good music venue. I'd be happy to return.

Expect shoulder to shoulder crowds and standing for a long period of time. The music was pretty loud, but also not too loud, so we were able to hear the artist clearly. Cons: Security is very lack luster, they didn't search anyone or check bags at all. Someone could have snuck anything in, that's the only worry we had. Otherwise it's a decent size venue!

On this particular night, they had the dance floor covered in chairs and tables, set up like a comedy club or a dinner show. I see on their website that they sometimes clear those tables to provide a generous dance floor space. The table set up is good for comedy or jazz, but many FM songs are made for dancing! Luckily there was plenty of room to dance on the right side of the room, but obviously along the wall there isn't the best sight or sound. I think it would have been better to put the tables in a U shape and provide more room for dancing, which would have really elevated the energy in the room. There are booths along the left, too, so TONS of seating and not much good dance space, but luckily this could be changed in the future. I never had to wait long for a drink and the bartenders didn't mind when I asked for refills of water. I think this space has a lot of potential and I hope to see more music or comedy there soon!

I've been waiting for a club like this in Albany for a long time. Where else in Albany can you see…read morenational and regional rock and blues acts. The room is great. I would guess it holds around 300 people. Table and table service and a bar in the back. Drink prices and admission prices are very reasonable. We have seen Papa Chubby and Savoy Brown and had a great time both times.

Loved seeing a Melissa Etheridge concert in the Events Center. Did not like being pressed into…read moresuper small folding chairs like sardines. I would have bought a drink during the concert but no way I would disrupt the people sitting in front or behind me or next to me to do so. Note to myself if I go again get aisle seats. They had 2 big screen video screens projecting the stage on the left and right of the stage. Once the people in front of me stood for most of the concert I saw more on the video screens than live center stage.
