Great local sugar house. Not big and fancy, but a real local small business with great products. I get all of my maple syrup and honey here and have for years. Fun to stop in around March when they are boiling. read more

Had a great time! We were lucky enough to stop by on a cold rainy day and the owner came out and gave us a tour. He was so interesting and explained the sugaring to syrup process from start to finish. He was so friendly and interesting that we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. He even drew us a map so that we could go visit the acres of maple trees where he gets his sap. We sampled the grades of syrup and found out how they were graded and why there were different grades. It was a lovely visit and we came home with syrups and maple butter and those little maple leaf candies that are all made right there. Thanks and we will be back! read more

I have been present during the sugaring process at the Rivers Edge Sugar House for over 6 years, and, each year, I have seen the incredible amount of time and effort they put into creating their product. Amy, Bill, Nicole, and Ryan put their heart and souls into making sure they produce an amazing maple syrup. They give tours of the sugar house and free samples. They stay up all night when there is a bounty of sap to boil. They have all grades of syrup, honey (which they also make), maple candy, maple cream, and now even maple kettle corn! Their prices are agreeable, and they now accept credit cards. :) I will always go back there for my syrup, honey, and other delicious products!! read more

We happened to see a sign while on our way to our Airbnb for this place so we decided to stop. The owner was super friendly and has a passion for what he does. He asked us if we had time in order to show us the maple syrup making process, which we did. Spent about 30 minutes chatting. Definitely would return if I was in the area. Purchased 2 different kinds of maple syrup and local honey which he makes too! read more

Bill gave the most comprehensive and wonderful tour of his sugar house to us. Anyone visiting the area should stop in during the season for a tour. He answers any questions , gives samples, and loves what he does. And of course the maple syrup, cream and honey are superb. He is also a very knowledgeable arborist and naturalist, so I learned even more about the Connecticut woods. read more

Great experience at the Rivers Edge!!! I was searching for a place to get maple syrup and a friend told me about this quaint, family business. I made the trek and couldn't have been more pleased. Plenty of inventory including syrup (which is delicious), maple candy and maple cream. The owners were helpful and even gave me a tour of their set-up (neat stuff!). I read Sarah's review and couldn't disagree more. I've found the people there not only helpful, but willing to go out of their way to make the visit enjoyable. I go there regularly to buy local honey, maple syrup and eggs. Though I don't buy candy, I've seen it in stock, so I can only assume that Sarah visited them on a bad day. In short, around our neighborhood, the River's Edge is viewed as an asset. read more

What a beautiful place to visit to buy the best syrup we've ever had! The owners are friendly, helpful and best of all, informative! We love to stop by during spring sugaring and learn how they make the syrup. The smell is fantastic. They have a variety of syrups (dark to light) and maple candy. They also have honey now too. The property has horses, chickens and a flock of a neighbor's guinea birds might greet you on the way down the driveway. :) read more

What a disappointment. I recently drove out to the River's Edge Sugar House with my in-laws in tow looking for Maple candy and a little piece of local interest. My husband called ahead inquiring about hours. We were happy to find that they would be open Thanksgiving weekend and that they did carry maple candy. After an hour in the car we arrived at the quaint little maple shack. Once inside my heart sank at the sad selection of maple products. It sank even farther when I asked about the maple candy. I was told that while yes they did carry maple candy they did not currently have any. I asked why we hadn't been told that over the phone when we called ahead and inquired specifically about the candy. The woman working shrugged and turned away from me. I then asked about maple cream. The same woman asked me if I'd like to try some. I enthusiastically said yes. She then told me I could not try any until after I'd purchased it and oh by the way they did not accept credit cards. So unless you are in the immediate area of Ashford don't bother. read more

Thrilled! We've been going to River's Edge Sugar House for over 7 years. They are a very friendly family owned business. We find their selection to be very good (and seasonally appropriate). The maple products are TOP quality. It is worth the trip. read more
