Clean vault-style outhouses, dedicated parking, just before the park entrance…read more You might roll your eyes, but with fourteen people of all ages that we were trying to coordinate, the location, type, and cleanliness of bathroom facilities turned into a consideration. Here, we were just at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The time we spent getting everyone out the door soon led to the question, Where's the first bathroom? They helpfully placed a "vault"-style outhouse just ahead of the entrance, off the far right lane, with head-in parking for six vehicles. The outhouse was clean. Supplies were well-stocked at 6:45AM on a Wed (Jul 2026). A few notes: - "Vault" means a non-flush facility that is emptied occasionally via an outlet pipe. Yes, there are aromas. Anything dropped-in is lost. - "Usually" paper and hand-sanitizer are well-stocked. But bring your own. - Every one we saw was obviously swept and mopped the same day. - This facility is to the far right of the road. The right traffic lane is for pass-holders. Even when traffic was backed up, people let others through to the non-pass lanes. - If you drop someone off, and wait after the entrance, they will have to pay or show a pass to come in.

It was clean, smelled good, and very adequate for staying at after a long day of exploring Yellowstone. Only gripe is checkout is at 11:00 AM and the housekeeping staff knocked on the door at around 8:00 AM. I was out for a walk. It made my wife aggravated as she was awakened. They could have waited a little longer.
