It was blazing hot the day we were there with my 86 year old father-in-law, and the kindness and concern that everyone showed for him was very touching. RB was great for some things and bad for others. They had a great IEP team and great guidance counselors. They had a great chemistry teacher. However, the English teacher Thomas Dignan is probably the worst teacher in that subject ever. My AP kid said they read maybe 2 books ALL YEAR in Dignan's class. Not much college prep! Dignan has learned the art of blabbing without saying anything. And the French teacher Ms. Forberg may be a native speaker, but she doesn't know how to teach. She gave difficult grammar tests without teaching any grammar at all. Her class would kill GPAs for most students. (My kid has a steel trap memory, so he still got As, but no thanks to her.) read more

It's difficult to get someone to review a high school who is not biased in some way. Some potential reviewers could be students, former students, teachers, principals, parents of students, and community members. All of these people are going to have a very different perspective of the school because they all have experienced the schools in different capacities. I will be reviewing RBHS from the "former student" category of people. The thing that stuck out the most to me as a student (2004-2008) was that, for the most part, the teachers were quite good. Perhaps this isn't something I could necessarily fully appreciate while a current student who was annoyed by the homework load. However, in hindsight, I'm comfortable making the assertion that I received a quality education from quality educators. As a student during those four years, I felt that the social science department was notably the strongest. There were teachers who made me feel genuinely excited about a discipline that I had been otherwise uninterested in before taking their classes. For a teenager, that's a major accomplishment! It's really a shame that the referendum didn't pass and I'm disappointed that the arts were affected by it. I have high hopes for RB's future and I hope the community will be more supportive in the future. A better school = higher property values! read more

First off this HS gets a 4 star cap because of limited parking. The main parking lot is usually closed off and has to be unlocked by Brookfield Zoo Police. However I was inside this school and it is build like a bomb shelter. No Cell Service inside and a bad storm hit and I never heard it. I know it was a bad storm since the drive home showed me downed power lines, trees, and lots of traffic light outages. read more

RBHS has given my children the tools they needed to work with--what they built was up to them. I always told my children it's what YOU take out of it. The administration is wonderful, caring and stern, they watch all the children the way I watch my own. The teachers taught, if you didn't pay attention, your grades reflected it. The ability to excel was there if you had the ability to acknowledge it. I will miss RB dearly and want to thank them for 6 wonderful years. I never had a regret sending my children to RB and I feel RB prepares their student's for the challenges of college.
