We've been to the Riverside Club many times over the years. We've gone to some Winter Texan events there and eaten out on the deck overlooking the Rio Grande a lot more. Their location is the highlight of a meal there. The food is just basic fried bar food with a few salads thrown in. Their Pork Tenderloin sandwich is a favorite of many. The meat is HUGE and is twice the size of the bun. But all that fried meat is pretty dry and needs a lot of condiments and veggies that just aren't there. Their fries are very good and their Ponchos/nachos are also good. It's so big we always split the order and have leftovers. Service is pretty good, although it generally seems they are short staffed and their servers try as hard as they can to keep up, but they're running! Prices are reasonable so we'll keep coming back a couple times per winter season. read more

Loved it! It's been a number of years since we've been to Riverside club. Six of us went there today to have Pork Tenderloin sandwiches. To start, the place is super clean inside and out. The staff, while very busy were pleasant and efficient. Megan was our server. She did great. And the food - oh my. The tenderloins were amazing. Large, crispy, perfect thickness and tasty. They were served on a large bun and they hung way over the bun. And while I forgot to take a picture of mine, I've added a picture of someone else's. I trimmed ours around the bun and my wife and I split it. The amount we took home from the trimming is at least the same amount as we ate today. This is going to make a great sandwich at home. The three couples shared 4 sides: Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Onion Rings and Corn Bites. All good. I look forward to our next visit to the RGV and a stop at the Riverside Club. read more

Neighbors recommended this place and we are glad we came. We each had the crazy huge fried pork tenderloin sandwich. And I do mean crazy huge. The tenderloin was perfectly fried and tasted great! Service was spot on. Neat place to sit and watch by the river while having a good meal. My only suggestion would be to offer cheap koozies for your drinks since so many sit outside and your drink sweats. But, since they don't offer them, bring your own and you will be fine! read more

Iowans and Indianans. THEY HAVE PORK TENDERLOINS.... but.... kinda like breaded cardboard. Caseys is better. But if you are really in need of the State sandwich of Iowa and Indiana... here it is. The onion rings are great though, and also 9 bucks, so they should be. Waitress was nice. Take the boat ride up and down the river while you are there. We didn't because it was 40 degrees that day. What fun to take a boat ride on the Rio Grande! Got to see birds, some nice houses and parks on the Mexican side, and a dam- didn't know there was one here! After that you can have lunch by the river on a porch (or inside) and enjoy the nice winter weather - in the 70s today so very enjoyable. At a very reasonable price, this is a fun place to visit and take guests. My lunch was a good pork sandwich that was actually like a Weiner schnitzel! And large enough to bring home. This is not the generic white walled and white floored salon/ballroom. The environment is incredibly cozy and inviting. The garden in the back, by the Rio Grande River, is a nice spot to walk and take pictures. Restrooms were clean and large. There is even a personal room for the Bride or XV'era to change and relax in. Not that hard to find; just a few feet down from where the road ends and there are plenty of helpful signs next to the road to help get you there. The management and staff were incredibly helpful. Quick story, it just so happened our XV fell on one of the hottest days of the summer. Luckily the staff had the AC going all day and night. By the time all the guests had arrived inside the temperature was very comfortable. I would recommend considering them for any event you may be having. read more

Visiting relatives in Mission who introduced us to Riverside Club. We really enjoyed the boat tour, super cool and informative - HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The place is really large with view of the river. The Riverside club is a fun "find". It is not easily found. It takes a few twists and turns and ride on the top of a levee to get to The Riverside Club. The drive gives a sense of adventure just getting to it. Once there, one is right beside the Rio Grande just across the river is Mexico. On Saturday afternoons in the winter, German music is featured. The day we went, a "Saturday Special" of German Food was offered. We had Bratwurst, cabbage rolls, sauerkraut, German potatoes, and a pretzel roll. All the food was good. The bratwurst appeared to have been brought in special. In South Texas, "bratwurst" is more "hotdog" than sausage. The ones offered on the special were "sausage, not "hotdog". The cabbage rolls and German potatoes were excellent. The pretzel roll was an extra. Sauerkraut was sauerkraut. The adventure and atmosphere is the reason to go to the Riverside Club. This is not fine dining. Food comes on plastic plates with plastic utensils. When not serving a special, the offerings are mostly fried items: fish, french fries, onion rings and hamburger type offerings. read more

Our group has been going there for a number of years and have eaten and been on the boat several times and Johnnies bunch have given us great food and loads of enertainment. If you want fast food go elsewhere, but to eat and enjoy company and have good food and adult beverages it's a great time with a huge tenderloin. I'm told the other food is great too. read more

This is a great place to have a casual lunch on the river. The patio areas are very large and most tables have a view of the water. They serve pork tenderloin sandwiches that are good and hard to find in the south. The dinner salad was really fresh.
