Been here for jury duty over the years. Not too hard to find parking if you leave early enough. They thoroughly search any bag or purse you bring. No glass of any kind so leave compact mirrors in the car. Really dumb they don't have a trash can to discard of things near the search area and they make you go outside to throw anything away. The coffee machine in the juror lounge doesn't work and there wasn't any food in the vending machine except a lonely carton of coconut water. There is a stairs to get to the second floor but I only noticed elevators to get to the third. Isn't that a safety hazard? read more

Riverside Family Courthouse I filed for divorce in the Riverside County Courthouse 2014, 2 whole years after I was promised one. My CONFIDENTIAL Declaration was frozen on the public server of one of the first Smart Cities...then breached in the Courthouse database. I'm sure it was also breached by other Smart Cities worldwide wide. There weren't too many at that time. 2012 Riverside was actually awarded The City of Intelligence award. I even used the Self Help Center ... that's where my document was breached at. I went few times there and I couldn't believe my eyes and my self how I was treated like a first class , the filing clerk had the best smile , and she had a little conversation with me , she made me feel very welcomed , when I had a question and she didn't have an answer she consulted with her supervisor who was very professional and nice as well , even my experience with the security guard was so pleasant , I was welcomed by the security guard and ha smiled to me and once I entered the court house and I didn't know my way one of the guards came with to show me where I should go The court house was busy , it had lot of people but everyone enjoyed the professional pleasant treatments , in addition it's very clean tidy court house , I really appreciated them and I wish for them all the best .. and I say very good job from very respectful considerate staff. read more

(Family Court) Some of the judges are there just for the paycheck. Are you paying attention to your ruling on these matters? The judge clearly doesn't care about the child's well-being. Believes a mother who had multiple CPS cases. No real investigation was done by San Bernardino or Riverside County CPS. My father-in-law is a retired Social Service Supervisor and is very familiar with how this works. The mother has convinced the simple-minded in charge that her son was coached by me (LMBO) to lie about another child. The mother is sooooo into her feelings that she wouldn't and couldn't tell the truth if it could save her life. She chose her nephew over both of her children. It has been explained to all judges that the mother has allowed her child to visit and interact with our family since we filed a CPS case. She is so mad and upset that she keeps the lies going to make herself feel better because she didn't get her way. This will all come to bite her in the butt one day because both of her sons will end up calling her out on her crap. She is getting away with the lies and manipulation for now, but it will come to an end. My season with that evil person is over. I will continue to pray for her. I cannot have that toxicity in my life anymore. I hope the judges will get called on their crap; it's very hurtful and disheartening, not being able to speak during the proceedings, and at the same time watch them allow her to spew lies. read more

The courthouse is beautiful and immaculate. The family court judge in my mom's restraining order case has no clue about how to deal with the elderly! My mother has been literally threatened to be killed by her neighbor who has broken her outdoor light, killed mom's plants, throws eggs all over mom's house, yard and garage, shouted profanities, etc. We have letters from witnesses, pictures and video and the judge lifted the restraining order so the neighbor is not walking on mom's property and destroying it. Apparently mom has to die before any action is taken against that neighbor. read more

Like any courthouse you have to go through the metal-detectors, so leave your swords and hatchets at home. I had to take care of a Fix-it ticket (expired tag; see previous review). Just to be clear, even if you fix whatever needs to be fixed, there's still a processing fee, $25 at the time. Line was fast, I recommend going after 10am when all the jury duty people have checked in. They don't take American Express, only debit, Visa, Mastercard, Discover(!), not sure if there was a cash option. I recommend emailing yourself and another person a copy of the receipt, bec. if there is ever a clerical error you're going to have a Failure To Appear (FTA) warrant on you. I spent 1h and 4min on the phone to talk to a representative, about 20 min of that being 1st in line to only be hung up on. No one even said anything just my call was ended. . It made me furious because I'm really trying to figure out the nexts steps to reconcile with this county but they are not making it easy. Other courthouses have that "Call back" option. The website to search a citation has being down for over 3 month to dispute a traffic ticket. www.riverside.courts.ca.gov I cant search up my records, I have called and a automated message says to call back as the phone lines are over loaded! I even mailed them my citation 3 weeks ago telling them to contact me so I can appeal the ticket. I cant get through and nothing else can be done. Very frustrating and strange that they dont want get money for traffic violations. read more

Had to come in today for Jury Duty. I parked in the free Juror Parking lot on 13th street and Main. I walked in thru the back Juror Entrance on main and 12 street. Have to go through a metal detector. Jury Room is on the 2nd floor to the right. Check in on the two kiosks by scanning your Juror Badge. Then take a seat till they call you. Had to go to Dept 54 on the 5th floor. Come in early the line gets super long to enter and to check in. read more

There are so many things wrong with the process for summons. 1. You need my expert opinion on something. YOU need me. So why do I have to pay for parking? 2. The chaotic 2nd floor and the absolute zero respect for privacy. Why do the clerks need to yell out peoples personal issues? I observed and heard everyone's situation from the back of the room. 3. The lack of empathy and common sense. If my spouse needs to be here but we don't have daycare, who pays for the daycare? How about if I have to stay home while my spouse is on jury duty, I have to take vacation time for child care, time I do not have. It's literally on the summons that child care is a valid excuse, but "the judge makes that determination". 4. There is no standard practice since all clerks yield to the judges to determine if your excuse is valid enough. Unnecessarily rude, why? I'm not the one on trial. 5. This is the process, so you'll be judged by the jury of your peers... what if my peers are a bunch of morons? None of these questions can be answered because "iT iS yOuR CiViC dUtY". Im truly convinced that when hiring for dmv, court houses, post offices and ect...the main qualification is to be rude as you possibly can. The family law court house is a joke. The regular assigned judge is out. His replacement is either postponing & or rescheduling everyone's hearing. This is bs. We go through extraneous amount of time and paperwork to get to this point. Not to mention taking time off work. The judge didn't take the bench until 10:30, heard a few cases, and another break for lunch at 12!? Court was suppose to resume at 1:30-ya right! The judge never took the bench & we were dismissed on another break. It is now 2:15pm! Tax payers $$$$$ at its finest! Come on riverside, get your shit together man!!! read more

Oh wow, is this a gorgeous courthouse. Closed for years, and lovingly restored, this may be the most beautiful courthouse I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. You'll only be here if you have a civil case, as they don't do family law, or criminal law, unless given a trial or special hearing by those other courts. The alabaster lamps, the high ceilings, the marble and granite, are amazing. Parking used to be easy ... roll up in front of the courthouse, park, and you're done. But now they have assigned spots, and a solar powered credit card accepting system, and then you're done... until you need to move or put more money in. But I digress. This is a beautiful courthouse that hearkens back to the old days. There is a lot of history between these walls, and the building does a good job of preserving it. There are glass display cases on the first floor with artifacts from the early 1900's that are great to look at. The courtrooms are old and ornate. Note that getting in the courthouse takes some time; there is one metal detector at each entrance and a security guard must inspect your bag. But if you are an attorney and come here regularly, for a small fee, you can get a card that permits you to skip the line, and walk right thru the metal detector. I must also add that my experience the clerks, not only in this courthouse, but all the Riverside courthouses, has always been good. They are happy to help. read more

I would be very careful if you are a tenant in Riverside California and are given a 15 day notice from your landlord to pay "in full" any missed payments due to Covid or vacate. This happened to me and I had to remind my landlord that I have kept up with my monthly payments and only needed to pay 25% of the delinquent amount due within the fifteen days to stop the eviction process. My calculations went like this: ( the amount I was behind x .25 or 25% = what you must pay to stop the 15 day notice) plus filling out and signing the forms explaining my issue as it relates to covid and how it affected me) . I then handed in a cashiers check for the 25% of the amount due and will keep making my payments until caught up. When an eviction related incident regarding a complex safety issue occurred in the past, the Moreno judges/commissioners' railroaded me right into homelessness and they didn't seem to care about the law. In my case, the Judge or commissioner saw that I was black and biasely blurted out "a crackhouse" which had nothing to do with me. I lived in a fairly decent complex except for the safety incident, and had never been involved with any type of drug or alcohol addiction in my life. When trying to complain, administration claimed they had no tape of the incident in the courtroom and the commissioner/judge lied about what he knew he said. Even the bailiff heard this judge. So, it appears that this rental system between Riverside City landlords and the court system work together traditionally and can be racially bias if you have no knowledge of the law or of professional etiquette. This is why I always do my research and get involved politically by asking my state legislator to demand camera's at these eviction proceedings for my own protection. Here is the law: "On Friday, the Governor, Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon announced an agreement on the legislation, AB 3088, co-authored by Assemblymembers David Chiu (D-San Francisco) and Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara) and Senators Steven Bradford (D-Gardena) and Anna Caballero (D-Salinas). Under the legislation, no tenant can be evicted before February 1, 2021 as a result of rent owed due to a COVID-19 related hardship accrued between March 4 - August 31, 2020, if the tenant provides a declaration of hardship according to the legislation's timelines. For a COVID-19 related hardship that accrues between September 1, 2020 - January 31, 2021, tenants must also pay at least 25 percent of the rent due to avoid eviction. Tenants are still responsible for paying unpaid amounts to landlords, but those unpaid amounts cannot be the basis for an eviction. Landlords may begin to recover this debt on March 1, 2021, and small claims court jurisdiction is temporarily expanded to allow landlords to recover these amounts. Landlords who do not follow the court evictions process will face increased penalties under the Act." read more

I had the displeasure of calling this courthouse several times for a civil case associated with my name unlawfully 6yrs ago(which I just found out recently). Tried to get assistance but ever single woman that answered the phone clearly hated their lives, their job, and it definitely showcased by the tone of their voices. Their attitude and demeanor was clearly a result of them not wanting to work there, that or they're all just fed up with fulfilling their duties working at a got damn courthouse. I haven't been inside, but after a few years of coming to jury duty next door, I appreciate and enjoy the sight of this historic building. It's a thing of beauty, one of those sights that makes you say, "They just don't make 'em like this anymore." There is a lot of character in downtown Riverside, unlike the city I live in, which is mostly new construction. Worth a drive by to check it out, and metered parking spaces are plentiful, so it's easy to park. read more
