He was forced to wear a full face mask with bipap which he did not want and he got upset and became combative. They restrained him and did not notify the family. They ordered a CT scan of his abdomen and pelvis for no apparent reason, then tried to refer him to their urologist even though I told them he was seeing a urologist at MUSC and Beaufort Memorial. He was given an injection of Geodon which dangerously interacts with the Levaquin he was receiving for a respiratory infection. This was not caught by the pharmacy or doctor. Before he was even there 12 hours, I received a call from care management wanting him to go to a nursing home. This place is a disaster!!

They jumped into action and my husband is alive because of the awesome ED team at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. They are the 'right-sized' system providing the services needed for our community; not here for profit to take money out of our community. We have moved all of our providers to support this hospital now and have been incredibly pleased with their service. If you're local or just visiting~ support our local hospital; we need them!

I have been referred to Beaufort Memorial Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialists. I've seen several…read moreproviders there, and do not feel my concerns are addressed or acknowledged. They seem to only focus on pregnant women. I've underwent surgery and had had follow-ups and imaging done over the course of 14 months. It's scary enough to face potential infertility and chronic pain. To be referred to a specialist to manage your condition who seems to care less is discouraging. Recently, I called to make an appointment for a women's health annual and was told the next available appointment was 55 days out, meaning I'll run out of medication by then. I really didn't want to have to seek care over an hour away in Charleston or Savannah but I would encourage others to do so. Also their phone system (10+ minute hold time for ANYTHING) and parking lots are a total train wreck. Overall, one could expect consistent unpleasant experiences at BMH.

I live in NW Indiana and was having trouble reaching my father. When I finally did I found out he…read morewas incontinent, vomiting and too weak to clean it up or take care of himself. I got him on an ambulance and off to Beaufort Memorial (read: Horrible). An ED doctor contacted me and told me he had Diverticulitis, malnourished, dehydrated and that he had a mass near his colon. The ED doctor told me they were going to put him in a room. A few hours later another doctor with a very bad attitude called me and said he had dementia on top of it all but was going to send him home but that a social worker would call to discuss the discharge plan. I made it clear that he is unable to care for himself and that he doesn't have any family that can assist in the area. So the next day nobody called about the discharge plan. I called and left multiple messages that were not returned. I call Medicare and entered an appeal to prevent discharge without a plan. That afternoon I was contacted by the hospital and they informed me they took him home. He didn't have keys to get into his house. They totally disregarded all of my requests. I called and talked to the discharging nurse and she was about as rude and uncompassionate as a person could be. They took him back to the hospital and yet again discharged him without having someone call me about the discharge plan or options to make sure he is checked on at home. There were a couple of good people I spoke with but overall it is bar none the worst experience I have ever had dealing with medical staff. If you have options to take your self or a loved one somewhere else I highly recommend you do that. This is the worst hospital on the planet IMHO. I'm a firefighter EMT and I would bypass that hospital if I could take a patient elsewhere. Shame on you Beaufort Memorial.

7-21-24 Came here…read moreafter our car accident as the EMT's felt we could take ourselves here rather than go in the ambulance. They referred us to this location. I hadn't gotten out of the car since it occurred and it was difficult. Thankfully not a long walk from the car to the door. As I was in a lot of pain and had a killer headache. They were not busy and after checking in my husband and I both waited for the doctor. We both had Cat scans. After we were released I thought it was odd we didn't even get an aspirin. Truthfully you are in and out like a piece a meat not a person. Next stop our own doctor. The quality of the care well it was clean and quick. What more can you expect. This isn't your Mother telling you that you will be ok. The moral of the story they give immediate assistance nothing more. At least the wait was minimal compared to where we moved from thus this four star review.
