I've visited at least half a dozen times for instrument repairs, ranging from minor issues to the horn not being able to function. And every single time I get it back it's like it's brand new! I'm not a musician, but my son is...so I've been getting familiar with Riverton Music. We have taken a trumpet in for repair and have been very pleased with the results. The gentleman that does the repairs is very knowledgeable and good at what he does. We have bought a new trumpet as well as sheet music from the store and service has been fine. I needed warranty work on my Gretsch2655 (output to amp kept intermittently cutting out) and was directed to Riverton music by the Gretsch customer relations department. Over what turned out to be a long saga, their luthier, Jim Miller, diagnosed and fixed the problem. Jim was very responsive and helpful throughout my repair experience. Even though it took recurring trips in, he prioritized looking at and working on my instrument, providing same day service although quite busy with other work. My second terrible interaction with this store. Upon entering, the man asked if he could help us. I told him we wanted to rent a cello. He exhaled noticeably, as though I was disturbing him. He did this a second time and I asked him if he wanted me to work with someone else.the interaction went downhill from there. I had a bad experience with them on my first rental, and thought I would give them a second chance. read more

Riverton Music and Keith are amazing! Keith saved my trombone! My slide was dinged, my crooks were leaking, my water key was leaking, and my case was damaged. Keith repaired my trombone that was above and beyond, and then some! Keith repaired my trombone slide, and case in just one day! Keith was so nice, and he also has taken such good care of me as his customer. He does an outstanding, amazing job, and he takes so much pride in his work. In addition, Keith and the entire Riverton staff are so honest, and friendly. The don't overprice on repairs, like so many music stores do! They do the best job that one could ask for, and nobody can beat their prices! read more

This has been by far the worst experience of my life, my daughter needed a violin for school and since y live just literally just around the corner I thought it would be very convenient to go there. Worst mistake of my life, the staff are so naive when it comes to customer service, and I would like to think that the b*** behind the counter is the manager, since all the other employees had to ask her to do anything. She is the worst human been. She is stupid and ignorant. I will never come back to that place again plus their prices are way to high.... We went shopping for our first piano and went to Riverton Music to look. Allen helped us pick out the most amazing piano and told us the history of where it was made. It was really very fascinating. He listened to our wants and needs and was very patient with us. We love our new piano! The delivery was prompt and the movers were careful and put the piano where we wanted it. read more

I bought a 50 dollar keyboard stand as a last minute Christmas gift. My family member used it and said it was very unsteady and difficult to play on. I took it back only to find out that they knew it was a bad stand but they would only give me in store credit. They didn't apologize or try to make it right in anyway. I would recommend not to go there. read more

These guys do a great job and while I always get sticker shock, it's important to keep in mind that upkeep of instruments is a little pricey sometimes and I'm sure compared to other stores they are very reasonable. They did a great job repairing our violins this week. A couple places they could improve are 1) I never got a call when my instruments were finished, I ended up calling them because our classes were starting next week and I was getting worried - turned out they had been done for several days, just no call. 2) If you drop off an instrument for ANY reason, for any amount of time, GET A WORK ORDER, even if it's just getting tuned. We dropped off two, one to get real work done and another to just get tuned. We got a work order for the one and nothing for the other, they just said they'd keep them together... they got separated and I about had a heart attack, but thankfully it was one we had bought from them and they were able to find it by the serial number. 3) They could be more cheerful. Just keep in mind musicians are particular and like things done right. Often when they seem upset or annoyed with me I later realize they're more disturbed by something a coworker did or didn't do and the annoyance wasn't with me. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. I like working with one of the girls at the West Jordan location more because she always seems to be happy, enthusiastic about sharing music with others, even novices like myself, not annoyed, but they do the repairs here, so occasionally I go here instead. read more

I took in a beautiful clarinet to have pads replaced. I took home a wreck. Melted in two places, one of the notes is more difficult to play because the melting changed the shape of the hole. They said 1-2 days over the phone. They changed it to 1-2 weeks when I dropped the clarinet off. A ploy to force you to rent one of their crap instruments. Then, after two weeks, I called and they said it would be another week. When I complained it had already taken weeks longer than their first quote they said it could be finished the next day. I will never have an instrument repair done by them again. The repair guys response? "It still plays." As for rentals... The rental we recieved was dirty. I didn't dare let my daughter use the horrible mouth piece we were given and they ignored my complaint about its lack of cleanliness. I will no longer shop at this or any other Riverton music. Far to expensive. Ruined the beauty of the instrument and still charged me full price for "repairs." Now I'm praying the job was done correctly and not rushed because they neglected working on it so long. Avoid this place! read more

I went into the Sandy location looking to buy a shoulder rest for a violin. While I can't complain about the customer service, I also cannot give them a full endorsement. The sales lady answered all of my questions and added some information but promptly sat down at her desk and went back to her computer work. Generally, I am not bothered too much when the staff doesn't smile or go the extras to be nice (Guitar Center knows this) but what gets me is this. THEY DO NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY FOR RETURNED MERCHANDISE. Store credit only is what the girl at the counter told me. And only if you join their registered customer email list. read more
